If he runs the Antminer at 90% efficiency because 100% is impossible because the machine has to cool down, he may have downtime daily or as the case may be. 90% efficiency will give him more than $3.86/day without expenses. By speculation, the operational profit will be up to $8.86/day for one Antminer.
I think there is a mix up here, the $3.86 figure is gross mining revenue and not profit after electricity, so even if he’s getting electricity at a very cheap cost, I don’t see how the $8.86/day operational profit figures follows from the $3.86/day gross revenue estimate. In fact if we’re to take 90% uptime into consideration then that figure would be lesser than that unless you’re using a different revenue figure or calculation or a different machine from that of the analogy.

It’s a harmless observation, I mean the machine practically running 24/7 even at night when people are sleeping, so if OP is planing to operate at home and stays in a residential area with close residence, he might get noise complaints.
