Private by default. CPU work. Continuity-settled.
One hash is one transaction.
(tested and working at 85k TPS using only 1 CPU thread)

ShearHash · CPU only · 1 SHE pot a block · 0.00000000001 SHE per valid hash

>>> TESTNET — MAINNET IS NOT OPEN <<<

SHEAR is hashing now on shear-testnet-v1. The public pool, explorer, miner, node and wallet below are testnet. Mainnet shear-v1 is a later genesis of the same mint law. It is not live. There is no claim window yet. Anyone telling you to “migrate now” is lying.

The old GNFP announcement is being locked. This thread is the new home.

Why a new chain

GNFP proved the mint: a 1-coin block pot plus a per-hash bonus, private by default, CPU-mining only. The master-node that carried GNFP was a very basic consensus ledger. That was the part that would not scale to the 1HASH=1TX in a lean and scalable manner, and the part that is being left behind. It had to be this way for full testing of the end-goal to ensue and those who put trust in GNFP will not be forgotten. We are enacting a 1:1 coin migration ability to all holders of GNFP to SHEAR.

So... SHEAR is the successor. It is a clean Nakamoto chain: header proof of work, P2P gossip, most-work wins. There is no masternode ledger as the source of truth. Nodes operate with a public stratum. If one node is down, the heaviest valid tip elsewhere continues.

The unit you already know is kept. The settlement is new.

  • 1 SHE minted in every valid block (the pot).
  • 0.00000000001 SHE minted for every valid hash, paid to the miner who produced that hash. Same figure GNFP is paying on the live book today.
  • 1 GNFP = 1 SHE for holders, claimed on mainnet through 'The Join' - a smart contract written in Solidity on the SHE chain. THIS IS NOT A SALE. Not a bridge you send coins into.

Emission — three paths, they do not substitute

This is consensus. Testnet already runs it. Mainnet uses the same constants on a separate genesis.

1. Block pot — 1 SHE

Every valid block mints exactly 1 SHE in the coinbase (kind: pot).

  • Solo: the finder.
  • Pool: split by proven work in that round. The public pool may take 1% of this pot only for development.
  • The 1 SHE pot never moves. Vortex votes cannot change it.

2. Per-hash bonus — 0.00000000001 SHE × your hashes

Each valid hash in the current block round mints 0.00000000001 SHE to the miner who produced that hash (kind: hash).

Alice 4 000 hashes and Bob 1 000 hashes in the same round → Alice 4 000 units, Bob 1 000 units, in the same coinbase. The finder does not scoop anyone else’s hash bonus. Hash bonuses are not fee’d.

Public pages show eight digits, so a single hash reads as dust. The extra unit is still sealed on the coinbase. A Vortex vote (The Reserve - a community governance mechanism, enacts conclusion of a community vote once every 400 days) which may move this bonus +1 unit, −1 unit, or leave it. That is ±0.00000000001 SHE. Nothing else.

3. The Reserve — the only dapp that may mint extra SHE

Not a third coinbase line. A Vortex programme (shear-reserve-v1).

  • Deposit π SHE (minimum 3.141592653589793…) as staked SHE into your own key-portal. That unlocks one vote for you for the current 400-day Vortex epoch.
  • Locked principal accrues interest at a variable annual rate observed by The Reserve Oracle on every node (default 4.25%). Idle SHE earns none and cannot vote.
  • The first qualifying π deposit starts the epoch. There is no operator start gun.
  • Inside the last 99 days, new deposits still lock, but they sit idle: no interest, no vote unless a user has committed coins to The Reserve before the 99 day new-epoch countdown begins.
  • After 400 days: principal (staked + idle) returns to your Continuum (balance). Interest is minted only on what was staked.
  • A bad oracle reading cannot reorg blocks or steal the 1 SHE pot. It is merely an observance mechanic on the chain

Any other Vortex dapp cannot print SHE. If a third party wants to pay rewards, they top up a vault with SHE already in circulation. Consensus rejects a mint from any programme id other than The Reserve (and one genesis-only Join mint, below). Vortices can be written by developers in a wide variety of coding languages, including as mentioned above, Solidity.

GNFP → SHEAR  (The Join)

When mainnet genesis is sealed — not before — a snapshot of GNFP spendable balances is taken from the GNFP book. Unconfirmed round credit and mempool coins are not in it. The Join vault is funded once, in that exact size. After that it only pays claims or burns. It is not a second printer.

Rate: one GNFP → one SHE. Same 11-decimal unit on both sides.

How you claim

  • Open the GNFP wallet you already use and copy the Join key from the backup tab. The twelve-word backup is not part of the claim.
  • Wait for the published mainnet genesis time, snapshot root, and window close. We will post them here.
  • In the GNFP wallet, under Backup, export a join1. migration key. That key is a signed cheque for your snapshot line. Anyone who pastes it can collect. Treat it as cash.
  • In the SHEAR wallet: Vortex → The Join. Paste the key. Credit lands on your Continuum dest (shp1), not on a rest-frame shear1.
  • Each snapshot line can be claimed once. You have ninety-nine days from genesis.

After ninety-nine days, whatever still sits in the vault is burned. It is not paid to miners and not paid to The Reserve. Later keys are refused.

What this is not

Not a new mine of your old coins. Not a sale. Not a change to the 1 SHE pot or the per-hash bonus. Nothing in this notice asks you to send GNFP or SHE to an operator, a bridge, or a third-party vault. The SHEAR wallet will never ask for your GNFP twelve words. The GNFP wallet will never ask for your SHEAR password.

Until genesis, snapshot root, and window close are published on this thread and on shear.digital, treat any “claim now” message as false.

How the chain is put together

Header — 120 bytes, little-endian

  0   4   version            u32 = 1
  4  32   prev_block_hash
 36  32   merkle_root        coinbase first
68  32   continuity_root    Merkle of collated hash samples
100   8   timestamp          Unix ms
108   4   bits               Resistance
112   8   nonce

PoW: ShearHash(header) ≤ target(bits). Personalization ShearHash-v1. Eight rounds of SHA-256 over that header. GPU-shaped and ASIC-shaped solutions mint nothing.

One hash = one transaction

A ledger that writes one JSON object per proven hash will stall. SHEAR does not do that. Each valid hash is still a discrete unit of mint (0.00000000001 SHE). The header commits a continuity root of the round’s samples. Samples are collated per hasher — one leaf per miner per round, never one object per hash. After 100 confirmations the sample bodies may be pruned - this is the storage prune which allows scalability. The header, merkle root, coinbase outputs, and every user transfer stay sealed. The explorer reconstructs history from those sealed rows forever.

That is continuity-settled Chronoflux on a chain: Continuum (spendable is conserved), Flow (this round’s hashes), Resistance (confirmations), Closure (the block that seals them).

What every full node checks

  • Version recognised; prev hash matches; timestamp after MTP of 11, not more than 2 hours future.
  • bits equals ASERT for this height (90 s target, floor 14, ceiling 256).
  • Header PoW meets target.
  • Merkle root matches ordered txs. Continuity root matches ordered samples.
  • Coinbase first: exactly 1 SHE pot plus exactly 0.00000000001 SHE × each hasher’s hashes. Hash-bonus counts come from a lag-1 snapshot — the hashed header cannot change after hashing starts, so this round’s hashes are paid on the next coinbase.
  • Other txs: signatures, no double-spend, amounts balance. Rest-frame shear1 is refused as a dest.
  • Extra mint only from shear-reserve-v1, or a one-shot Join genesis into the vault.
  • Block weight cap starts at 4 MB.

Most-work: 2^256 / (target + 1). Heaviest valid chain wins. Equal work keeps first-seen. Full reorgs allowed. No operator finality window.

Privacy

she is private.

  • Offer she1 — a silent payment code. Share this. It never appears on chain.
  • On chain: revolving shp1 dests. Miner login is she1 or shp1. A she1 login pays the matching shp1. The she1 string is not written in vout or samples.
  • Never share rest-frame shear1. It is not a login, not a dest, and verifyBlock rejects it.
  • Public explorer: tx id, amount, height, memo yes/no. Identities are rotating shear tags. No wallets, IPs, or logins.
  • The wallet holds a view key (the same secret that seals shewall.json). Paste it on the explorer and you see only your rows. Nobody else’s.
  • Optional Flow memo: ciphertext on the wire. Public page shows yes/no. Plaintext only in the sender and recipient wallets.

Pool — pool.shear.digital:1111

The public pool is a stratum in front of a local validating node. Mint happens only when that node accepts a header that meets Resistance.

Every job is a full 120-byte header template: version, prev, merkle, continuity, timestamp, bits, zeroed nonce, plus jobId, height, shareBits, blockBits, and 240 hex of the header. If any of those is missing, the job is not served. The pool does not invent roots. A found block is that same header with the winning nonce, plus the body the node already bound to the template.

  • Command builder on the page: paste a dest, set threads, copy the line.
  • Fee: 1% of the 1 SHE pot for development. Hash bonuses paid in full to each hasher.
  • Official miner: one login. No dual-login miner fee.
  • CPU inventory is per TCP session, folded on the worker row. Honesty is against merged proven H/s, not the last banner.
  • Vardiff never exceeds current block bits. ASERT is 90 s. GPU/ASIC still mint 0 (ZERO).
  • A still-connected hasher stays listed when a block is found.

Other pool operators and solo miners are invited. Run a node, point ShearHash at it, announce it.

How to mine — shear-miner v*.*.*

Official C miner. Hashes the 120-byte Shear header. client=ShearHash. Default pool.shear.digital:1111.

--user is she1… or shp1… plus a worker name. Rest-frame shear1 is refused.

Code:
shear-miner --pool pool.shear.digital:1111 --user she1YOURID.worker --threads _n

--selftest and --print-config do not start hashing. A bad address exits before any worker wakes up.

Releases and source: github.com/rgsneddon/shear

Wallet — Shear 0.0.7

Chronoflux tabs. Testnet. Offer she1. Chain dests are shp1.

Continuum   ∇·J = 0     spendable SHE + this round’s pending hashes
Flow        J^μ         send / receive. she1. optional memo
Resistance  η           transactional print of a confirmed tx
Vortex      Ω^{μν}      contracts: The Reserve, The Join, third-party vortice
Shearview   S_{μν}      your personal explorer
Closure     G_{μν}      password and backup. encrypts shewall.json

Backup is one file, shewall.json, sealed with AES-256-GCM + PBKDF2. Copy it. Restore it. It is not a Berkeley DB .dat.

Pending hashes this open round sit in pending (1 unit each). Not spendable, not an explorer row yet. When a block is found they move into spendable with any pot share. Transactions may still propagate on the chain per hash. That is a Chronoflux magic.

This pin does not mine. Point shear-miner at the pool (or your own node) with the she1 the wallet shows.

macOS: open the notarized .dmg and drag Shear onto Applications, then eject. Launch from Applications. Do not run from the open disk image.

Node — shear-node *.*.*

Validating daemon. P2P :30303. Magic shear-testnet-v1. Data in ~/.shear/testnet.

The official node is a well-known seed, not a required master. A heavier valid chain is adopted. A mutated or foreign book is rejected. Rest-frame dests are rejected.

Code:
node node/src/node.js

Vortex

General contract surface. Nodes do not run a full EVM in v1. Rules are honoured in protocol. Example Solidity lives at contracts/Reserve.sol and contracts/Join.sol so the law can be read in a language people already know. Copying those files onto another chain does not make it Shear.

Pinned (not minted by creators)

  • The Reserve — stake, vote, oracle interest. Only extra minter after genesis.
  • The Join — GNFP snapshot claims. One genesis mint into the vault, then pay or burn.

Third-party vortice

You host the dapp. The node mints a vort1. deploy key that names your origin and pins a hash of the exact bytes you serve. Holders paste that key in Vortex. The wallet fetches the origin, checks the pin, and deploys. There is no catalog. No key, no dapp.

You may not print SHE. You may not ask for a Shear password, twelve words, or a join1. key. Keep serving the pinned bytes; a new body needs a new key.

How money moves, in one pass

  • You hash a real header with ShearHash.
  • Each accepted hash is 0.00000000001 SHE on your path for this round. Pending, not spendable.
  • Someone finds a block. Coinbase mints 1 SHE (split by proven work that round) plus each hasher’s own bonus from the previous round’s snapshot (lag-1).
  • Spendable lands on your shp1. Continuum shows it. Shearview lists it. Public explorer shows amount and a tag, not your she1.
  • You send on Flow to someone else’s she1. Optional memo. Confirms in a later block.
  • If you lock π SHE in The Reserve, you vote and may earn oracle interest over 400 days. That interest is the only extra mint.
  • On mainnet genesis, GNFP holders claim 1:1 through The Join within 99 days, or the leftover burns.

What you should do now

  • Keep mining and holding GNFP if you want the snapshot. Spendable at genesis is what counts.
  • Keep a copy of your GNFP backup.
  • Mine SHEAR testnet if you want to see the new header path: shear-miner --pool pool.shear.digital:1111 --user she1YOURID.worker --threads 4
  • Install the Shear wallet from the Shear release, not from an unknown build.
  • Do not send GNFP, or anything else to a she1 / shp1 and expect it to appear.
  • Wait for this thread to publish genesis height, snapshot root, and the close of the ninety-nine day window before you export a Join key.

Read this last

Testnet coins are testnet coins. Mine and hold as if they could vanish. This is new software. It is not advice.

The old GNFP thread is the history of the book. This thread is the chain.

she is private. Point ShearHash at pool.shear.digital:1111. Testnet until we say otherwise.

Code:
shear-miner --pool pool.shear.digital:1111 --user she1YOURID.worker --threads 4

hi there, she. Smiley

good to see we are running tests before mains to the net

could you update here in a couple of days time to time how it's going

and inform us with the good news of the mainnet launch

ill will give it a go with the testnet and see how the software looks out to be overall

(maybe im glad to be able to check the testnet out for the first time look around and maybe the mainnet will more inviting)

Further tests... I have deployed shear-testnet-v2

1hash=1tx is now active on v2 and fully confirmed coins are being minted within a target average of 9 seconds.
block rewards now 0.1 per 9 seconds (keeps the 1 SHE every 90 seconds) and block bonuses are fairer, with a 10ms miner hook into new blocks at the official pool.

This is the power of the Chronoflux mathematical equations at work.

amazing, ground-breaking.
If it wasn't for the privacy mechanisms, we could indeed push up to and beyond 4million TPS.

You can mine at shear-testnet-v2 here: https://pool.shear.digital/

1hash=1tx stays one bonus unit per hash, but the chain does not store one JSON object per hash.

Each 9s block rolls a Flow bundle: one sample row per hasher with count = N. Coinbase still pays N × 1 protocol unit. After 100 confirms, sample bodies prune; the header continuity root and coinbase stay sealed. That is how Shear stays lean while throughput rides the 9s pot.
watch it at work!

Lots of work done last night - finalisation of the consensus rules on test-net.

Previously researched the possibility of 9 second blocks with 0.1 rewards. This proved a load on the scalability so we are reverting to the optimal 1Shear /90second block time and chronoflux still does the pruning work to keep the chain lean and usable.

Baked in 6 confirmations til spendable (policy recommendation of 12) and applied the tx fee structure (more on this later).

recutting clients to the new rules now... watch this space!
