Yes, it is entirely possible to work hard and not achieve conventional success, primarily because hard work is a necessary but insufficient condition on its own; without strategic direction, access to opportunities, or the leverage provided by networks and information asymmetry, effort can be misaligned with market demands or systemic advantages. I don’t think hard work is enough for someone to be successful, you can work hard as you want and still end up not being successful, but their are part of countries that hard work could pay off but not in a country as African, you will need opportunities and connections for you to be successful in some certain endeavors, however in the western world you don’t need any opportunities to be successful your hard work would definitely pay off for you, there are differences in the part of the world, in terms of employment in the African what you need is opportunities and connections which can help someone become successful.

Hard work alone is not enough for people to succeed, but opportunities and environment also play a very important role. No matter how hard you work, you may not be able to express your abilities in front of everyone due to lack of suitable opportunities. Especially in the field of employment, acquaintances or connections often put others ahead of qualified people. So, not only hard work is necessary, but it is also important to get the right opportunities along with improving your skills.

We don't even need to blame those that believes hardwork don't lead to success because they have their own personal reasons why they have come to conclude on that, many at times spend time and energy working hard with hope of coming home successful but has a different result at last.  Although I will say its because they do not channel such hardwork into a profitable direction that can help transform their efforts into result. 
Its not all about working hard but its all about creating a conducive environment where your hardwork can turn productive at last. This is the problem many faces and keep blaming other factors for their downfall.

Even if we don't blame them which I don't plan on even doing rn, they will still have themselves to blame when they observe the success story of those lots who took the initiative to direct their hardwork toward the right stuffs. Right now there are lots of skills now in the world that can reward your hard work better than the 9-5 job that you are doing now. Yes it could require lot of hardwork for you to benefit from that skill, but at least you are directing your hard work toward better opportunity that person can be sure will bring results when the time comes.

Some person love treating this life like a fantasy that is why you will now see them hoping for things to happen when they are supposed to be putting in work. People should quit doing that and develop the character of putting in work by working smart in the right direction so that they can see results.

You're right, everyone should just figure out what works for them but it is very important to work hard because when you work hard it opens opportunities for you. When I say work hard I don't mean that you should tear yourself a part but that is not it. Working hard simply means putting in more efforts and time to get a job done. There are some big men that before they give you a contract they will start doing background checks to know if you are good at what you do.

There's an exception to hard work which is in the case of someone who was born into a wealthy home as you stated because they don't need to do anything as everything has been sorted by their parents.

I see alot of times we present the idea of working hard to be bad and less productive than working smart but I think working smart is totally dependent to hard work if you want to make a difference. Through your smartness, you can get an idea easier than the rest but with putting in the hard work, you can't make a difference.


Talking about this, if working hard is enough, I highly think it's sufficient in providing for one's need and maybe some few rear it takes them to the top but what matters is that what ever work situation you find yourself, you should always strive to create and impression on your colleagues

That’s correct. Whether one needs hard work or simply being smart is solely dependent on the opportunity that’s been presented to them. For some, opportunities are handed to them in a platter, and they barely need to make any efforts, mostly those who are born with a silver spoon, everything is literally handed to them in a platter, while some others need to work harder and smarter to secure their own opportunities. It depends on what we mean by working hard, although there are people that has been working hard but arent successful, I think what hard mean, is being smart in what you do, to bring out the best in you, but before all that, you have be in the league of friends that has the information that will help you, you must in one way or the other come across those that matters in the society for you to be helped, in becoming successful.
If people can be sincere to tell their success story, that is a when you will hear that, it is not only about stressing much that made them reach where they are, instead is them getting hold to the right information.

If hard work is what make people rich and financially stable then, those doing labural work on site who lift hundreds of blocks and digging holes all day's and construction will be the richest forks on earth because those guy's are really doing hard labour, most especially those using manual laburs, but that is not the reality with Money and financial control, hardwok without Smart work will not yield any positive results in your finances this is why you see those who show less work but are very Smart making a whole lot of money than other's and you keep wondering how they are able to make such money doing less physical jobs.
