[Tool] btcprice.app - private crypto portfolio tracker, no wallet connection

Hi everyone,

I built https://btcprice.app/ because I missed the simple "open it and see what you own" feel of the original Blockfolio app.

It is a manual crypto portfolio tracker for long-term holders. You can add holdings from exchanges, software wallets, hardware wallets, or anywhere else as separate entries, then see the total value, allocation, and estimated profit/loss in one place.

The goal is to keep it useful without turning it into a trading terminal.

Current features:

  • No account or login required
  • No wallet connection, exchange API link, signing request, or custody
  • Portfolio data stays in your browser
  • Market data and asset discovery from CoinGecko
  • Separate entries for the same asset, with optional labels and cost basis
  • Combined portfolio value and allocation
  • Private mode to hide balances and quantities
  • Portfolio backup and restore
  • Shareable portfolio image cards
  • Dark and light mode
  • Optional gold, silver, platinum, and palladium tracking
  • Asset search beyond the visible top-market list

It is intended more for people holding crypto across multiple places than for active traders. For example, you can keep separate entries for BTC on an exchange, a hardware wallet, and a software wallet, while still seeing one combined total.

I'd appreciate honest feedback, especially from people who used the original Blockfolio:

  • What did Blockfolio get right that current trackers tend to miss?
  • Which features here feel useful versus unnecessary?
  • Is anything confusing or missing from the workflow?
  • Would you prefer manual tracking like this over connecting wallets and exchanges?

Site: https://btcprice.app/

This is an independent portfolio-tracking tool, not a wallet, exchange, broker, or financial adviser.

I tried making some random portfolio, download the backup (for some reason it's a png?) and tried to restore it. It seem like it doesn't even detect the backup file properly, if that's even supposed to work. For the record, I used a Chromium based browser on a Mac to test this. Is the feature still not yet live, or does it requires specific setups? I thought the backup would be a json file or something similar instead of a PNG image.

Thanks for the testing! I fixed this last night before seeing this post. Should be good now. I don't think many people would use this in the beginning and/or unless they know they are switching devices and have a large list of coins they are tracking.

It was just saving the wrong extension type wrong, if you open that .png in notepad you would see the json text.

Thanks vod. I tried to post it https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/ but keeps getting flagged. I'll take a look at that site and post it there, but maybe after the android app is published, just need to wait 2 weeks for google to approve it.

The OG Blockfolio app was really simple with no logins or anything, good for long-term holding I would put my coins that i have on ledger, metamask, coinbase, etc in there to track it in a single view. Then FTX bought it and they began using it to funnel users to ftx.com and the FTX app.

I see you are using coingecko data, and I think they also have some kind of portfolio tracker available.
Back in the old days I was testing several portfolio tracker, but none of them meet my strict criteria.
There was one app called Rotki that was open source, and you could download it and use on your computer.
Everything else, inlcuding OP app, is web version and I don't know who is collecting information I enter with my IP address.

Thank you for bringing this u, it’s a fair concern, and I appreciate the question.

I’ve updated btcprice.app’s Privacy Policy to explain exactly how it works: positions, amounts, optional buy prices, Watchlist items, and preferences are stored locally on the user’s device. The app does not require wallet connections, message signing, or accounts, and I do not run a portfolio database or store user balances.

I also clarified that CoinGecko’s CDN and Coinbase live ticks may process normal connection metadata such as an IP address. They do not receive portfolio balances, amounts, totals, buy prices, wallet credentials, or private keys. CoinGecko price requests identify requested assets, not how much anyone holds.

I’ll keep working on ways to reduce third-party exposure further, and I intend to open-source the project once I’ve finished preparing it properly. Thanks again for bringing this up!

Also adding that CG does have a portfolio app, but requires sign in to their site i believe and in general their site is riddled with bloat
