An engineer working for the company distributed it to customers. Then, he deposited approximately $4,000 in bitcoins to his personal bank account.

This information is wrong, you can't deposit Bitcoin in a bank account, it should be saying "he deposited $4,000 made from the sale of the Bitcoins to his personal account".

I wonder how did he managed all those two dozen mining rigs at one place... How many air-conditioners did he had?

Journalists as always didn't do their homework. It is weird that such a mistake comes from a cryptocurrency news website.

This article was poorly written

The mining machines have been confiscated by the authorities and are now being examined to find evidence of other illegal activities.

To my knowledge an ASIC can only mine lol

Mining for bitcoin at one point in time was very easy and did not require much electricity or that much computer power. As the digital currency is becoming more widespread, mining for the coins is also becoming difficult. Much energy and proficient computers with well-equipped power is needed to mine for bitcoins. One bitcoin user allegedly used another person’s electricity to power his own computer to mine for the digital currency.
Mining Bitcoins Using Stolen Electricity

Dutch News channels reported the incident and revealed that a 43 year old resident living in a city in the Netherlands called Tilburg was arrested on the charges of stealing electricity to power 21 mining computer machines.

Another greedy fool in trouble.

I think those asics were hooked up to a computer or computers... that's what they took to check out.

That is what they likely meant but still it says the mining machines not the computers were confiscated lol.

Wait a minute....
Some "dummy" wants free electricity and he actually gets arrested;
Mark K steals over 600,000 BTC and the police are slowly starting to get involved?
^^^
Do you see anything wrong (or unfair) with this?

The difference is that Mark K can afford elite legal help, which will make sure that he is never prosecuted for his crimes. So the moral lesson is: If you want to commit robbery, then do it for very large amounts. Make sure that there is more than enough money to pay for the lawyers. And also, some to bribe the officials.
