Hello.

 Version 0.2.0 is available.

Mining can now use a graphics card if you have one.
In this version You can also mine using the processor if you don't have a graphics card.

 Important:
 Fees are safer now.
Small units are no longer mistaken for whole coins so the node will not take too much for a transaction.
A few messages are bit more friendlier now.

                                        ALL NODES MUST UPDATE.

 git pull

 https://github.com/natusor/MONEU

 Website  https://moneu.cc/

To mine with a graphics card just add gpu at the end.

moneu-cli startmining <your address> gpu

And without that word ,,GPU,, nothing changes and the node mines then on CPU.
moneu-cli startmining <your address> 4

GPU mining needs an OpenCL driver.

I hope MONEU will succeed and change many lives for the better and that one
day it will stand beside the major cryptocurrencies in a monetary system that
belongs to the people who use it, not to those who print it.

MONEU node binaries for Linux are available now.

You no longer need to build the node yourself. Download the package unpack it and run it.
Nothing more to install.

    tar xzf moneu-0.2.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
    cd MONEU-linux
    ./moneu-test-noise
    ./moneud -daemon

Everything else is in README.txt inside the archive and the package is signed.

    gpg --import moneu-binary-releases-key.asc
    gpg --verify moneu-0.2.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz.asc moneu-0.2.0-linux-x86_64.tar.gz

Download from https://github.com/natusor/MONEU_linux
or use the button on https://moneu.cc

Of course the source code is still there. So if you prefer to build it yourself use

https://github.com/natusor/MONEU

How to see my wallet balance?

Use:

./build/src/moneu-cli getwalletinfo

That gives you the balance of the whole wallet, plus how many leaves are left
in your noise file or use :

./build/src/moneu-cli getbalance YOUR-ADDRESS

Anything you have just mined is there as immature for a while before you can
spend it.
If you went with the Linux package, drop the build/src part:

./moneu-cli getwalletinfo
./moneu-cli getbalance YOUR-ADDRESS

The project seems cool, but for it to grow at all, having a Discord server run directly by the founder or a close insider as an admin is an absolute must.

I have no affiliate link, no bounty, no signature campaign... Only Proof Of Work!

Good idea. If you or anyone else wants to start one and run it for the community,
that would be welcome.

MONEU 0.2.2 is now available

Windows users can now join the MONEU network.

The Windows version is now public.
The buttons on the website give you the packages for Windows and Linux.
The source code is updated.

https://moneu.cc

All nodes must update before block 55000.

I have now switched to windows GPU from Ubuntu CPU.

When will there be an explorer?

Hello paulmbcufc

Thank you for switching to the new version.

The idea of MONEU is to be a fully decentralised network that does not depend on one person so If someone in the community wants a block explorer, they can set one up themselves on their own server.
The node gives all the data needed for it.
A decentralised network grows when its users take part and build things themselves,
Not when everything is handed to them.

The node itself is able to show everything.
On Windows type these in the moneu.exe window and Linux put moneu-cli in front.

Blocks:

getblockcount
getbestblockhash
getblockhash 41000
getblock BLOCK-HASH

getblock shows the block with the list of its transactions.

Transactions waiting for the next block:

getmempoolinfo
getrawmempool
getrawmempool true

getmempoolinfo shows how many transactions are waiting.
getrawmempool lists them. With true it also shows the size, fee and age of each one.

Transaction in detail:

getrawtransaction TRANSACTION-ID true

It finds the transaction in the waiting list and in the blocks.
With true it shows the inputs, outputs and amounts in readable form.

Balance.

getwalletinfo
getbalance ANY-ADDRESS

getwalletinfo shows the balance of your whole wallet.
getbalance shows the balance of one address. It works for any MONEU address, not only your own.

Sending coins:

sendtoaddress ADDRESS AMOUNT

Thank you again for switching to the current version.
It is very important that every node moves to it before block 55000.

Hi Natusor
Can you provide docker image for deploying your MONEU node? I'd like at least some semblance of isolation. Thank a lot in advance.

Hello zlg1

The node already runs in Docker without trouble.

  • Root is not required. Ports 8327 and 8328 sit above 1024 so rootless Docker is fine.
  • A volume mounted on ~/.moneu keeps the chain and the wallet and the noise file between restarts.
  • The binaries are static and only want glibc 2.35 or later. Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 or Debian 12 make a good base.
  • Alpine ships musl instead of glibc so the node will probably fail there.
  • Generating the noise file inside the container works. Docker uses the real CPU so the timing is genuine. When the noise falls short the node refuses to create the file.
  • Passing a GPU into a container is fiddly so Docker fits a plain node or CPU mining best.
  • Deleting the volume without a backup means losing the wallet with it.
  • Docker is no full sandbox because containers share the host kernel.

Right now I'm working on a block explorer.

MONEU Block Explorer is live at https://explorer.moneu.cc

It also opens from the NETWORK OPERATIONAL button in the top left corner on moneu.cc.

Hi zlg1

There is no official Docker image.
The node runs fine inside a container that you build yourself from the Linux package.
My previous post describes how it behaves in a container.

MONEU has applied for a listing on CoinMarketCap.

Ticket number: 1463844.

The application is not about trading.
It is a registration so that more miners can find the project.

MONEU 0.2.3 is out. Update your node.

Every node should run 0.2.3 before block 55000.

This release improves how the node handles two blocks found at the same time.

At block 43463 two miners found a block within moments of each other, and both blocks carried the same payment. In proof of work this happens from time to time, and the network settles on one of the two blocks within minutes. Version 0.2.2 kept some nodes on the shorter branch instead of moving them to the longer one.

Nothing was attacked. No coins were stolen and no older history was touched. The noise leaf shield, the wallets and the consensus rules were not affected. Our nodes are back on the main chain and the network runs normally.

What 0.2.3 does

When a competing branch carries more work, the node checks every block of that branch in full and moves onto it, as every proof of work node should. If anything in that branch is not valid, the node stays where it is.

New checkpoint at block 43000.

Consensus rules are unchanged. This is not a hard fork. Block reward, fees to the miner from block 55000, maturity, signatures, difficulty and the noise leaf shield work exactly as before. The wallet format is unchanged.

After the update the node joins the main chain on its own within a few minutes. If it was on the shorter branch, the blocks it mined there after block 43462 are replaced by the main chain, together with their rewards.

Update from source

Code:
cd MONEU
./build/src/moneu-cli stop
git pull
cmake --build build -j$(nproc)
./build/src/moneu-test-noise
./build/src/moneud -daemon

Check the version:

Code:
./build/src/moneu-cli getinfo

It shows "version": "0.2.3".

Update with the packages

Linux
https://github.com/natusor/MONEU_linux/raw/main/moneu-0.2.3-linux-x86_64.tar.gz
Stop the old node with ./moneu-cli stop, unpack the new package and start it with ./moneud -daemon.

Windows
https://github.com/natusor/MONEU_windows/raw/main/moneu-0.2.3-windows-x86_64.zip
Type stop in the moneu> window, unpack the new package and run moneu.exe. The package is now a single moneu.exe that does everything.

Wallet, noise file and coins stay where they are: ~/.moneu on Linux, %APPDATA%\MONEU on Windows. Keep a copy of that folder on a separate drive.

Update before block 55000.

Source code: https://github.com/natusor/MONEU
Website: https://moneu.cc

Sorry to everyone whose node sat on the shorter branch, and thank you for running MONEU.

IMPORTANT: Please Update Your Node

The current version is MONEU 0.2.3.

If you are still running an older version, 0.1.0, 0.2.0 or 0.2.2, please update. If you are still on 0.1.0  please update.

An older version can get stuck and keep mining blocks that the rest of the network does not accept.
And such blocks and their rewards are lost and from block 55000 older versions will stop working with the network.

Download 0.2.3 for Linux or for Windows from

https://moneu.cc

The source code of version 0.2.3 is also available:

https://github.com/natusor/MONEU

Thank you for running MONEU.

Good news for the MONEU community

MONEU has been added to Coinranking

https://coinranking.com/coin/-GEg0r0uJ+moneu-moneu

It is listed without price data because MONEU is not traded on any exchange yet.

Every block pays 77 MONEU coins and only 30000000 MONEU coins can ever be mined.

Please download and use the latest version of the node from GitHub. It is the one with the commit "Maintenance update. All nodes must update." The Windows and Linux packages are also updated to this version.

MONEU on CoinSniper

One of our miners submitted MONEU to CoinSniper.

https://coinsniper.net/coin/94619

Thank you Kowalski for doing this.
And remember that anyone can submit MONEU to different listing sites.
