We are SubGenius.Finance. We maintain two abandoned 2014-era proof-of-work chains that nobody was obligated to keep alive, and we have been doing it in public. This is not an ANN. Both coins were announced over a decade ago. This is a description of the work, because people occasionally ask what we are and whether we are a scam, and it is easier to point at a thread than to answer it one message at a time.

It is a real cult coin, and that is meant literally

Not "cult following" the way every project on this board claims a cult following. The Church of the SubGenius has existed since 1979. It ordains people, it charges for it, it has run a weekly radio show since the 1980s, and it has an annual holiday that people physically travel to. It had a congregation for thirty-five years before anyone thought to put one on a blockchain. (BOB) is that congregation's coin, and the relationship runs both directions — the wallet's splash screen carries a button that drops you onto the Church membership page, because we would genuinely rather you got ordained than day-traded.

Most projects invent a community to justify a token. Ours had one first, and it did not need a token at all.

The chains

(BOB) DobbsCoin — scrypt PoW layer 1, struck on BlueMatt's Coingen lathe in January 2014. 2 minute blocks, KGW + DigiShield retarget every block, 1.5 (BOB) per block forever. No premine. No founder allocation. No team wallet. It has been mined by volunteers for about twelve years without interruption. Its ANN thread is older than most of the projects posting on this board today.

(OFF) Offerings to Cthulhu — 2013, orphan-attacked in 2018, delisted, left for dead. We restored it: hardforked to v2.0.0, rebuilt the difficulty handling, and brought the network back with an emergency escape valve so it cannot get stuck the way it did before.

What we have actually built, all of it public

1) Daemon and desktop wallet releases for both chains — Linux, Windows, AppImage, with SHA-256 manifests published alongside so you can verify what you downloaded. dobbscoin.info/downloads
2) Block explorers, mining pools and public seed nodes for both chains.
3) A faucet, a paper wallet generator, and a browser toy or two, because a chain nobody can touch is a museum piece.
4) Our own git host at git.subgenius.finance — source, issues, releases.
5) And now an Android wallet.

The wallet

Non-custodial. Keys are generated on the device and never leave it. No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no telemetry of any kind. bitcoinj underneath, around 11 MB, minimum Android 5.0, currently in closed testing on Google Play.

It has been tested on a small number of devices, which is exactly the problem, and why this post exists. I want it run on hardware I do not own and I want to hear what breaks — screens that render wrong, syncs that stall, anything that looks stupid on your particular phone.

I will pay for that

Open the wallet and post a screenshot of the receive screen showing your address QR — either in our Discord at discord.gg/dAqeASnJkk or as an issue on the git host above — and I will send 100 (BOB) to the address in the screenshot. The screenshot proves it runs on your hardware and tells me where to send the coins. That is the entire arrangement.

⚠ Screenshot the receive screen only. Your recovery phrase is a different screen. Anyone who sees a photograph of it can empty your wallet from anywhere on earth and I will not be able to get it back for you. The address is public and safe to show. The words are not.

On the scam question, since it comes up

In April someone offered to mint a Solana token off (BOB)'s name, run it up with a Twitter push, and route "creator fees" to us. The whole exchange, including our itemized answer, is public: git.subgenius.finance/SubGeniusFinance/androidbob/issues/12

The short version of the reply was that you cannot create a coin out of (BOB), there is no creator to pay, and the chain is the founder. We closed it as spam after answering it properly, on the theory that the answer is worth more in public than the money was.

Known issues, so nobody wastes a report

1) The release build ships unminified deliberately. R8 renames classes that bitcoinj and protobuf resolve by name and a minified build crash-looped on launch on a real device. It costs about 5 MB of download. If someone wants to write the keep rules properly, we will take the patch.
2) If you installed a (BOB) APK before 26 August 2026, the signing key changed. Android will refuse to install over the old one and will tell you almost nothing useful. Back up your recovery phrase on paper, uninstall, then install fresh. Do not skip the backup.

Twelve years is a long time for a joke to keep producing blocks. We would like the wallet to be the part that finally works properly.
