Apparently he thinks he's getting back at Canada as part of the tarrif dispute HE created. Problem is, the name Lake Ontario predates both Canada and the US. It is a >400 year old native American (Iroquois) word Onitar:io meaning 'lake of shining water'. When European fur trappers showed up on this continent in the 1500's and made their way up to the area they kept the name that the indians used. So he just flipped the bird at the Native Americans as Canada had nothing to do with the name.

He went onto suggest that he may rename the Atlantic and/or the Pacific oceans as well... Talk about an arrogant asshole!

Oh, one of the things that caused Canada to stop tarrif talks - he is insisting that the US oversee all trade talks between Canada and other countries. Just who the hell does he think he is?

TBH it would not break my heart for him to have a stroke or heart attack to put an end to his insanity.

We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms. Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario — then, now and always.

If Trump was a king in the past, he will be one of the kings that will prefer wars to conquer more territory in a way he will not think of the killings.

I do not like to post anything related to people directly on this forum or siding any countries that are in conflicts, but that is what I think about Trump.

I hope Trump lives, is impeached and gets to watch as everything he built is torn down to thundering applause. 

His four years will soon be over even if he is not impeached.

He is just a man with a need to do stupid things that history will remember him for - what is far more worrying is that the citizens of the US went to the polls and voted for him. This shows that the majority of US society wanted a man like this to lead their country, and despite everything, many of them still want it.

As someone who watches everything from afar, I honestly don't care whether the US president will be a Republican or a Democrat, but I wonder if one of those two parties will finally nominate someone who won't be lost in every sense (Biden or Bush Jr.), or who was useless like Obama.

Well even the greatest countries should understand that they need to respect other countries, it's appalling that Donald Trump's administration has decided to disrespect many countries including their close neighbors over and over again.
For me it is right that Canada also have to fight back, they are an independent nation and as any independent nation should uphold their dignity they did it in style with the reverse comeback they had against Donald Trump's US.

Renaming the lake just because you are the president and not in good terms with Canada is foolhardy, the next president could easily come in and make the changes needed again.

He has done the ranking of the presidents of the United States. And Emperor Donald Trump believes that he is the greatest president of the US. Trump overestimates himself to the extent that he speaks before thinking. Many people don't take his words seriously anymore since he talks too much.



Who would take this ranking seriously? The next president of the US would do lots of renaming.

No denying that. The downside to his actions is how much he is destroying the trust that our historic allies have in the US. In his mind the World According to Donald is all he cares about and as said earlier, to him you are either a client or an enemy.

Just one of my favorite examples is his failed attempts to force a Scottish farmer to sell his land to him for a golf course he built there. Another was him losing his battle to stop a Scottish offshore wind farm because it "would destroy the views from his resort" (part of the golf course project). The list of his megalomaniac actions just goes on and on

Trump is fighting on all front, fought with Iran he lost but don't want to admit, he is Into trade war with Canada, he is not happy with South Korea, infact he is angry at Nato countries for their refusal to join on the war on Iran. You cannot fight everyone and expect to win. I see Trump going down as one of the worst president America will ever produced in recent times

I concur.
Offhand there are only 2 things I can think of that he has done which directly benefits the US:

1. Stopping the flood of illegal immigrants coming in by no longer giving most a grace period to prove they should be allowed to stay. By taking away that get-out-of-jail card illegals are now eying other countries to move to. Right now, Mexico is their choice... A somewhat satisfying result of that is Mexico and to some extent the 7 countries making up Central America also finally discouraging/blocking the flood of people who were leaving Central and South America who were on their way to try and (illegally) enter the US. Those folks have now become a huge problem for Mexico because they are no longer just passing thru. Some folks here in the US may wring their hands over the heavy-handed tactics used by ICE but Mexico is now going after illegals crossing their southern border even harder.

2. Him pushing through legislation to reclassify Hemp and Cannabis products by removing most of the draconian federal laws against it put in place during the 1920's. Just as most other countries followed the US lead against hemp and cannabis hopefully more will also reconsider their laws against it which they put into place back then under pressure from the US.

I'm sure there are more things he (mostly) did right on but to me those 2 are the only Pro-Trump ones that stand out. The list of Cons (pun intended!) is easily far longer.

Odds are that the next POTUS will rescind many many of Trumpolinis Orders.
