[Binance] Security Alert: Beware of New Phishing Attack

Today I received double email from the Binance about phishing attack. Quoting below that I received;

Dear Binancian,

We've recently detected a new type of phishing attack targeting crypto users. Scammers use fake "security alerts" via SMS, email, or messaging apps to trick users, emails into clicking links that can drain their accounts.

If you receive a suspicious message, email with a link, do not tap it. Contact Binance Customer Support immediately through the official app/website.

They have provided an article link as well; removed that from the quote. So it’s especially for newbies; you must need to be careful when you receive any mail or SMS from Binance. It’s not about only Binance; whenever you receive anything from exchanges, verify the link first before clicking any links. Otherwise, you may lose your funds.

Adding a link to the message sensitizing your users about links in unsolicited messages is counterproductive to their goal.
This could also be a phishing attempt by scammers. The first part of the message could be to get you to let down your guard and they slip the phishing link or malware into the article.

Did you receive this warning mail from Binance itself or the scammers? I’m asking since you said you remove the link to the article.

I know I have received some scammers' messages before that pose as the service provider warning me about scammers, while they were actually mail from the scammer itself. The trick was played with the support link added to the mail.

Any sensible user that has experienced in using crypto platforms will know that an exchange will not demand for such action by us, sending unsolicited link is not right and they wouldn't provide us a message that contains such, instead they may refer to our account on their platform to make some necessary changes regarding the security settings and implement a safety measure as an additional step to prevent us from being hacked.

I think OP received a phishing mail and not from Binance. I've not received any mail since today from them and I've asked 2 of my friends about it and neither of them received such a message, so I think OP is the one under a phishing attack.

Binance has never sent me a code via SMS, it's always via email, or they request code from linked authenticator app, so that is another red flag in the email.

I agree with you on the link, that is their scam action button.

So OP, you should either ask the mod to move it and merge it into that topic, or repost this topic again. The corresponding mod specifically said no new topic for scam, phishing attack or anything of those sorts.
