In this present day, technology has really advanced a lot, making things very easy, fast and convenient for humans without having to stress too much or work too hard.

Now my question:
Is the advancement of technology actually making humans more productive, improving our skills or are we gradually losing our basic skills and some other essential skills, since we are now dependent on technology for everything?
Are we becoming less productive, losing our problem solving abilities, critical thinking and creativity?

One thing I have to admit, if my smartphone would not be able to store any kind of data like phone numbers then I would have to remember them, and now I don't even remember most of the numbers, just basic 4 to 5 numbers maybe.

But does it matter? I don't think so because the same effort I can reallocate somewhere else which can be more productive, but I do have one fact to share that with technological advancement we have become lazier than before, but it is on us, we can opt to be not lazy and be more productive.

I sometimes think if they are giving us the drugs of AI to do our work, like research and development etc. What if they block all of the AI? Would we be able to do the job haha, like there was a funny line made by someone on social media that, I am not worried if AI will eat my job, I am more worried if there won't be any AI, what will happen to my job haha.

Hard times creates Hard humans, hard humans will create soft times and soft times will create soft humans, soft humans will create hard times. This is how is has ways been right from time, each time we create or invent a technology to improve our experience as humans, there is always a cost to be paid either by this generation or the next but it must be paid. I don't think creativity will ever stop entirely, it may reduce but creativity can't stop.

It depends on the industry that you are in and the type of technology that you referring to.
One this is for sure though that advances in technology technology has improved the human life and human race. It has made more people who leveraged it become financially independent quicker than when before when it wasn’t leveraged.

There are humans and humans. For most I believe productivity is going to decrease, while dependence is going to rise. On the other hand, for a portion of human beings, technology advancement is going to be an opportunity of developing creativity and using their spare time to grow themselves cognitively, emotionally and spiritually. Technology is a tool, and when on the right hands it can be used to do wonderful things.

I think this technological advancement clearly has both positive and negative sides. It's undeniable that some people have become lazy as a result of this technological advancement. For example,, teenagers who are so busy playing online games that they don't think about anything else. This is clearly not a good thing, because the longer they engage in this routine, the more addicted they become, and ultimately, it's difficult for them to break free. The worst part is that teenagers who are addicted to gaming clearly can't think further and aren't critical. So,, yes, that's a problem.

But if we look at the positive side, with these advances, it's clear that it's much easier to learn new things and new skills. So, if we want to learn, it's certainly easier now than it used to be. Because now we just need to type something into a search engine, and all the answers will appear. So, in essence, it's incredibly easy. So, yes, given this, I don't think we can simply view this modern progress negatively, because in reality, it still has its uses. So, the bottom line is that we must be wise in dealing with this situation.

Because of this, it doesn't mean that technology is bad; the fact is that we can't even do without technology. People can only decide how they want technology to play its role in their lives. If someone truly wants to improve with technology to learn more skills, then this is a role for technology to play. Well in my own understanding, technological advancement is making more people to be lazy and less productive since they solely reply on it for almost everything, but there are still people who try to be  more productive than relying on technology. But this number of people are very few in the society. Yeah many people are losing their problem solving ability to technology as you have said. I can remember a friend of mine about a week ago, he was doing calculation and asked me 4×6 and I replied 24 but he was never satisfied till he confirmed it through his calculator and I told him have you forget that 4×6 is thesame thing as 6+6+6+6 or 4+4+4+4+4+4 which is same as 24 and he started laughing that doing this math thing is like stressing the brain. And I told him even if this technically stuff helps, that we should not forget that human brain is still the Master computer and need to be given difficult task some times.

Yes people are more productive at the task level. No serious person disputes that. But productivity at what exactly? The results of the 2026 research are proving: the more AI tools organisations provide to their employees, the higher the output per task. Despite that, there are record numbers of people experiencing burnout. The efficiency boost is not time that is saved for the man. It just raises what is expected next sprint cycle. This is an attention problem more than a skills problem. The skills thing is sort of a sideshow. The real loss is not that people cannot do mental arithmetic anymore. Cannot stay in that foggy place where the real thinking goes on.

Humans deserve rest too because over the years, they have been using their brain to build technologies that will lessen their task so that the brain doesn't get too stressed as a result of critical reasoning to proffer solution to a problem. Advancement in technology is not aimed at making humans to become lazy but it's just an idea to assist mankind. It is true that human task will reduce since many modern technology can do almost everything but we shouldn't also forget that it's same humans that builds these technologies and it took them a lot to achieve. We will not become less productive because we will still need to keep these technologies in check from time to time to know if they're functioning as expected.

To be very honest I did use AI in my previous posts and I got penalty for that and the two seniors of this forum in which one was the utmost senior called me a spammer, why because of using advancement of this era. I have taught English in private schools for years. And I remember I was creative enough to make my own topics on which I used to write essays in my own words.
But now probably I came into comfort zone with this AI tools like chatgpt , Quilbot and ginger etc. I promised and texted those seniors to remove the comments they have put in but they hadn't removed it and my black image is all wandering around this forum.

So my experience with AI is quite bad and I would suggest people not to use AI especially on this forum or the consequences would be the same.. thankyou

I still believed on what one of my scientist lecturer said during my school days, he said as a scientist " the day you stop learning is the day you will start drying". And these are some of the things that is affecting many people, Technology may no be the problem as many people thought, but the issues when you people tends not to move along with the technology, because even in some of our working places, many things changes and those that don't stop learning may have a higher advantages than those that stopped due to thier old methods. In facts even the use of AI is a skills on it own when it being learned properly, because you have to give an instructions to Ai when doing a project or any other thing, and makes corrections where necessary before the final decision. In the other hand our human skills are nature, when we talk of communication and some practical things, there are many things we do that machines cannot do or replaced on our behalf, because man made machines. For example, if you use Artificial Intelligence to execute your own idea into reality, then you are increasing your productivity. Because here you know at least something about your final result.

Moderation is the usage of anything is important because excess of anything can be a bad thing, even if that thing is not bad in general. Similarly, I personally believe that whatever technology we have had so far throughout human history, at least the majority of them are created to make things easier for human beings, give them better options or more comfort in doing things than how they used to do it in the past.

I think there can't be a bigger example for this than mentioning the inventions such as airplanes and vehicles. In ancient times, people used to travel either by foot, or on animals such as horses and camels, and it would take months for them to go from one city or country to another, but now, it only takes a few hours up to a day to reach the other end of the world.

However, when we talk about the excessive use of technology that can be harmful, we can't forget to mention that the same vehicles that are useful for us to go from one place to another could also make us lazy if they are used excessively. For example, if you need to go somewhere around where you live, and the place is not that far, you should generally just walk there, because why not? It's not that far, and you will stay healthy if you do that very often because physical exercise or activities are also important, but if you take your car or maybe a bike to go every single place, even if it's not that far, then that's excessive, and it is not something good.

Even while using technical tools or artificial intelligence, I believe we can take advantage through it to improve in our skills or ability. Take for example Ai, we make use of Ai for research, help, faster work and for broader knowledge. With the use of this artificial intelligence, so many persons has really improved intellectually because this tool has actually broadened their knowledge, made them more equipped, educationally too, improved their problem solving skills and also communication skills.
