Looking at the Bitcoin market cycle, the whales already know the time we are in right now, and this recent move to $81k may likely mark the end of this bear market cycle, which I believe is one of the things fueling the increase in the activities of whales in the market and the increased number of addresses that hold 100 BTC and above because the whales understand the market game more than we, the retail investors. We are fast approaching the year 2027, and that's historically a year before Bitcoin halving, which majority of the time marks the reversal phase of every bear market cycle we've witnessed, and I think we're beginning to see history repeat once again.

To me it's a sign that we have quite a number of folks that have moved BTC out of the exchanges and are waiting for a bull run.

I think this is bound to happen and only got to show that the whales are mostly the usual 1% that controls 99% of global wealth. It just happens that they are gradually recognizing Bitcoin and are already doing what they do best, seize every opportunity that will increase and preserve their wealth. Bitcoin is even better for them since it has a finite number which means it is destined to increase in value based on the law of demand and supply so the whales simply cannot resist buying as much Bitcoin as they lay their hands on. We can only join them to do what they are doing for the sake of the future.

I think this is happening because there are so many changes taking place in the world right now, and many assets that once seemed very stable are becoming increasingly risky. Considering that bitcoin is politically neutral, it can potentially continue to develop independently of the political situation in the world. That’s why people are starting to accumulate bitcoin in particularly large amounts as a way to protect their wealth from losing value. I think this is definitely one possible reason why the number of large bitcoin holders is growing.

There is no way to stop the whales. They can afford it at any price and the current price that we're having right now is a discount to them because they know that it will be more worth in the next years.
While someone who owns a little of BTC that have been held for years, the holder of it will be happy to sell those at the price range above $100k or at exact price.
We see the difference of how someone who's willing to buy at any price and those who held for so long. No one can stop those sellers as well because it took them a while before doing that hard decision.

The statistical chart indicates an increase in the number of Bitcoin addresses holding more than 100 BTC, suggesting that whales are growing in number as many continue to view Bitcoin as an investment asset.
Furthermore, statistically speaking (due to the limited supply of bitcoin) and the fact that this crypto asset is freely available, there simply won't be enough room (or resources) for everyone to join the "league of whales". Therefore, rather than selling your Bitcoin for whales to acquire it, consider holding on instead.
And become a whale yourself. So, you’re suggesting using negative motivation (acting to the detriment of the whales) instead of positive incentives (profiting from investments)? Sooner or later, any assets will have to be sold to realize a profit; they can't be held indefinitely. Some whale is bound to get their hands on your bitcoin (or a hacker who has compromised your hardware wallet ). What will you choose? Some are also speculating that the recent bull run could also have been part of what contributed to an increase in Bitcoin investors (whales). It is interesting to discover that we have been experiencing an increasing rate of Bitcoin adoption.
Which bull run are you talking about? The one that happened in 2025? Well, I wouldn't count the increase in whale activity as BTC-adoption. There are other developments in the crypto industry that are more deserving of being recognized as BTC-adoption. But that’s a topic for another discussion.

According to the price opinion that was more popular online before this price push up, most people were saying that price was going to drop to $30k, so I guess that these push to $81k was a surprise to some of them whales. As the price unexpectedly pumped, they decided to buy more because no body can be sure whether price will dip to the speculated bottom price.
And, I don't think that people that are selling their coins now are doing so without any good reason because Bitcoin price already gave a reason for small investors to even hold tight to their coin, this recent pump is a sign of how great the price will perform during the bull market and anyone selling now is probably because they don't have another alternative to get money for their needs.

You’re absolutely right if we own Bitcoin right now, it’s crystal clear that holding onto it is far better than selling it. After all, why sell right now? This is a time when it’s better to buy, not sell. But yes, none of us can predict how people will behave in this market. It’s undeniable that there are a huge number of Bitcoin traders out there right now. So yes, buying and selling will definitely continue. That’s just how it’s supposed to be. So perhaps right now, we should focus more on buying than on selling. Some are also speculating that the recent bull run could also have been part of what contributed to an increase in Bitcoin investors (whales). It is interesting to discover that we have been experiencing an increasing rate of Bitcoin adoption.
On this matter, I’m not entirely sure whether the current price surge is caused solely by whales. After all, it’s clear that the price of Bitcoin cannot be driven by just a handful of whales, since Bitcoin is such a massive asset. So, in my personal opinion, the current price increase is simply due to many people buying Bitcoin, and not just the whales.

Each time when the market starts making a recovery, new investors always enter the market to buy bitcoin and hold because they have more confidence in bitcoin when the price is rising than when it is falling. Sometimes, it is not mostly new investors that enters the market, it could be old investors that are buying more bitcoins using another wallet address. My theory. When BTC dropped, they bought it at low prices until recently when the rise started, so they moved the Bitcoins to personal addresses to hold them securely long term. To me it's a sign that we have quite a number of folks that have moved BTC out of the exchanges and are waiting for a bull run.
Of course, that's what the whales does. When the market is falling they will acquire more bitcoins and leave it in the exchange wallet but as soon as the market start gaining strength, they quickly withdraw the bitcoins in their exchange wallets to a secured self custody wallet. But I wonder why they always risks their bitcoins in an exchange wallet till when the price starts increasing, that is when it will occur to them to move their bitcoins to cold wallets.

With the sudden increase in Bitcoin, we don't need to be told that whales are buying into Bitcoin as best they can.
The whales know what could happen in the market before 2030. They are using the present market conditions to their advantage to buy more Bitcoin than they have. It will be our loss if after everything(positive speculations of Bitcoin), we tend not to buy and hodl Bitcoin till the next bull run

An increase in the number of wallet addresses holding more than 100 BTC does not necessarily mean an increase in individual whales. An institution could own a couple of those addresses, that's a good example of what i mean.
However, i do not really pay attention to stats like this, and like i always say in this forum, i'm not about to tell anybody what to do with their coins, their keys; their coins. As long as there are buyers, there would be sellers, that's the BTC economy, neither is any of us planning to hold everything forever, so just don't sell all your coins and become a no-coiner, that in itself is ridiculous.

This is not unexpected after a prolonged bear market and sudden pump going into weeks now. Many individuals who must have doubted whether bitcoin would recover after spending so many months in the $60k zone. The speculation has been high whether the price is falling further or going to rise. What contributed was also some individual speculations about bitcoin not recording it's bottom yet and which was why some people were waiting for the Bottom price. The sudden pump made waiters realise how dumb they've been and how they've lost an opportunity to buy at the $60k zone, not this time anymore or they can choose to wait further, so perhaps they are buying.
The whales understand the business, they cause panic and then buy back your bitcoin when you can no longer hold further. Don't sell your little bitcoin to these whales, everybody deserves a share in the future not only the whales.

Not only at the present time but also in the coming days, the number of Bitcoin holders will increase even more, especially when the halving is ahead. Everyone is quite aware that the price of Bitcoin increases after the halving, that is, a bull run of Bitcoin is seen, due to which more or less everyone wants to take this opportunity, due to which at this time we will see many more Bitcoin investors in the market. Perhaps this is a part of the pre-bull market that is seen before the bull market starts.

Some whale is bound to get their hands on your bitcoin (or a hacker who has compromised your hardware wallet ). What will you choose? The whales of course, but those that are also investing can be this smart in their own and be profitable in their investment rather than selling at loss, maybe over the time, everyone of us could also be a whale through our consistency with bitcoin investment. Some are also speculating that the recent bull run could also have been part of what contributed to an increase in Bitcoin investors (whales). It is interesting to discover that we have been experiencing an increasing rate of Bitcoin adoption.

What if these whales just have their bitcoins in multiple wallets just to spread their risks? These guys are in it for business, and they are very serious about it. They are not investing with emotions. We are not supposed to be surprised that they have huge amounts of Bitcoin in their addresses; we should all consider the season we are in. This is a time when whales accumulate more Bitcoin in anticipation of a bullish season. They understand Bitcoin better and won't act like regular investors who are weak hands. ... Therefore, rather than selling your Bitcoin for whales to acquire it, consider holding on instead.
Holding Bitcoin for the long term can indeed be profitable, but whether to sell is a choice each person has to make. I wouldn't tell anyone to keep holding their assets, that's up to them if they want to sell or take some profits. The important thing is that they understand what they're investing in. Most advice to hold isn't wrong, but realizing profits from your investment isn't a bad thing either. There's nothing wrong with taking some profits when you want to do that. So it is up to each investor, whether they need to sell or keep holding.

I agree with this your theory. They actually bought those coins when the price of BTC was down, I don't see any reason to leave still them in exchange if the plan is to hoard them till the next bull run. That said, do you think they'll continue accumulating Bitcoin should the market decides to make more corrections? Should that happen, I think their action will better tell us how confident they are in holding.

Whales are of different categories to begin with and while we have the OG individual whales who have been from the onset of Bitcoin and have accumulated enough overtime, the launch and adoption of spot ETF created a new variant of whales that favor regulated custodians. That being said, the bottom line is not to sell off Bitcoin out of panic, but to accumulate and hold as much as possible so as to prevent you as a retail holders purchasing power from being overtaken or transferred to these big pocket whales waiting in line to absorb your Bitcoin.
