Did you think inviting VDM to NBA is disrespect to the law profession

For me I will say No.. with my specific reasons

Alot of  lawyers sees VDM's invitation to NBA as a big disrespect to the legal profession and a slap to their career as lawyers.

But I will like to say this , VDM has  contributed  significantly in raising public awareness about insecurity and even more visible than the government in some instance.

 The NBA event is an intellectual event we're intelligent mindset people brings positive ideas that will help the progress and growth of the society.

 Femi felena said that the NBA is a professional body, and should maintain a high intellectual professional standard, he also said the theme for the program is essentially on national security, that the panel should has involved people that are professional intelligent on that field not someone not.

I think he really misunderstood the reason why VDM was invited, because VDM was not called to teach the lawyers rather he was called to give his own suggestions regarding insecurity and pointing out to possibly problems and solutions to them.

If an individual has a solution on how to fight insecurity in the country and retorse peace and unity I don't think there's a problem in it.

According to the Nigeria constitution, one of them stated that there's a freedom of speech to every citizen in the country, so VDM enumerated him self by speaking out possible solution on his own perspective towards insecurity.

Alot  of people has been saying why should NBA invite VDM , while there are more qualify security experts to fall on,
One thing you must understand is that experience matters alot when it comes to insecurity VDM has experience and has known the way out to scale it.

In summary I think allowing unconventional voices without lowering the professional status of the person should be considered.

Indeed VDM is one of the person that has avocated for some many Nigerians that doesn't has a voice. VDM was very outspoken and we are very proud of him. However, he has been one of the brave men we have in recent time and I think his present at the NBA annual gathering invitation wasn't a mistake but for a purpose. Then i learnt that a lot of people especially lawyer's wasn't happy because of his presence at the conference. Offcourse, i didn't expect nothing less because where this set of lawyer's has failed in their duties to given the poor the justice they needed VDM has took it upon himself to do that and I can understand why they're bittered.

In summary I think allowing unconventional voices without lowering the professional status of the person should be considered.

Yeah, that is the right thing to do because when someone that has experience it or someone's that has been affected in the cost of it, it's totally different from someone that claim to be a professional on that field. VDM attending that program was the worst nightmare that happens to our people in power including security Chiefs, and that is the more reasons they dislike him with so much passion.

It's just like saying that because one is not in the military that if he is able to overpower criminals that he shouldn't do it and that even if he goes on to do it, he should not be honoured just because that's not his responsibility. How senseless is will that be?

The concept of being a learned personality is not limited to studying law for a particular number of years in the four walls of the university. For someone that has used his influence in ensuring that justice is being served to several Nigerian, he has every right to talk about issues of national security concern not just in the NBA but in every and anywhere sane people gathers because he's the sanest of citizen as far as we can tell.

As an individual, he's paid his dues and certainly deserves everything he's currently privileged to get access to.

He may not be the most educated person there, but he is by far the most outspoken, courageous and fearless advocate there, even though he doesn't learn his own advocacy in school.

 If we are going to be honest with ourselves, if like 40% of our judiciary has the same level of sincerity, integrity and courage very dark man has, this country wouldn't get to this stage that it is currently in, so I believe that it's a honour for our judiciary to host someone like him with courage and integrity.

If I may ask, disrespect to who? So he's not supposed to be invited, and why? People invited him and I believe that they have their reasons for inviting him, so whatsup with what people are saying,  I don't care about what they say, that guy called VDM has risk his life for Nigerians many times, away from that, he's a man of his words, people may not like him, and of course we know the reason why such person can hated by mainly sponsored individuals.

Mate the percent you gave is even too much, talk of 20% of our judiciary, if we have up even 10% of sincere ones without fear, the mess we are seeing in judiciary wouldn't have been there, if you make out your time and go to court rooms to listen to cases, you'll understand that Nigeria have a long way to go, what about verdict given by judges, VDM to the world jor.

They are angry with VDM because he spoke the truth. The judiciary is against the truth,they are not please with what he spoke in the conference. They have gang up  to bring him down,the police has invited him to come and explain what he meant by saying the police is collaborating with criminals to perpetrate crime. Isn't VDM saying the truth? Isn't in Nigeria that a police officer was captured in a video waving hands at bandits? Yet the police authorities has not invited the officer for questioning.

Forget the judiciary can't be honest,they are corrupt. I don't think we have upto 2% of judges and lawyers that are honest in this country. Femi falana was on TV lambasting VDM that he doesn't have right to speak at the NBA. But what about a notorious bandits kingpin Ado Aleru who was hosted by the government for a peaceful talks. Please forget about judiciary, there's nothing anyone can do that can cleanse the judiciary from  corruption.

the police has invited him to come and explain what he meant by saying the police is collaborating with criminals to perpetrate crime. Isn't VDM saying the truth?

They asked him to present evidence to back up his claims that the police are the people aiding kidnapping and many other criminal activities going on in the country.

I guss he asked them to charge him to Court if they really want evidence and uptill now none of them including the police, army, custom immigration etc, nobody has come out to charge him to Court and that is because he is saying nothing but the truth.

They just need to be careful because if they know who that young man his they should be hiding in shame.

There is nothing disrespectful against the law for inviting someone on a matter he even knows more than people that calls themselves professionals, why is it that anytime a Nigerian has some certain level on their degree they feels that anybody who is not on the  same academic level with them are not supposed to be on their means?. Actually on a civilised country people like VDM are the ones who are supposed to teach about the insecurity of the country because he is the only one who have studied and proffered a solution or suggestions to the government while all those people who were claiming professionals in law have never visited any of the affected state, actually is unfortunate that even a common thing that everybody goals are the same against insecurity they're still bringing discrimination of levels.

As far as I know, VDM didn't go to the NBA conference to teach those graduated lawyers about the law, but rather since the conference was about finding solutions to the unending case of insecurity in our country, the organizers decided to invite someone who they thought had the knowledge about it, and unfortunately, VDM happens to be the best individual in that position to give his undiluted suggestion, and moreover, i was very happy with what VDM said all through the conference, most especially regarding when he said the politicians are the owners of the majority of the cows you see Fulani men carrying everywhere in search of grass, which is why they have never wanted to implement a law to stop such acts or render a permanent solution to it.
