Of course one of the feature that has become popular in sports betting is the cash out option, it gives bettors the chance to settle a bet before the match ends, and many of us also see it as way to reduce risk. Now this brings me to this  question, who actually benefits from the cash out option, is it the bettors or the bookmakers?

It is a double-edged sword for both party, it can save you from a complete bust for a player and help a sportsbook to manage their bankroll when more people are in the potential to win their parlays. But for a player to make it useful then they should have a betted odd games or at the end of their parlay with very few games remaining, if not you might even end up with less than what you wagered.
It's useless to go for a cashout offer that is lesser than what you bet with because I still see it as a lost. Though, it's better to reduce the amount of money that you're already losing than lose it all. I prefer the cashout when I'm already in profit no matter how little it is. I'm cool with it. I have experienced several parlays that the last game cut my slip because I didn't cashout when I had the opportunity.
In some cases it can make sense, let's say you made a bet and very key player got injured before the game which reduces the winning percentage greatly at that point you can go for cash out rather than waiting which can recover some of your wager if not all but as we said it is better not to cashout if we rely on the luck just let it go and fate will decide what is best for us.

The cashout is a feature that can benefit the player, and it can also be an advantage to the casino. However, cashout is a feature that plays an important role for gamblers when it is hard to take risks.

When a gambler can't afford to lose, they don't mind what the end of the game will be like; rather, they are concerned about the mental aspect of cashing out and leaving, because if the game ends in a loss, it can be a bad experience that one won't be able to forget easily. For me, I think the cashout feature benefits gamblers more because it has to do with controlling emotions as well.

Yes cash out is a feature that have assisted a lot of gamblers from a complete lost, actually I agree with you because gamblers are the ones with more benefits of it than casinos because it gives you the opportunity to remove your money at any moment, I remember when I betted three games and after the success of the first two match, it was remaining one game but unfortunately at the beginning of the match they had red card, so it became obvious they would loss but with the help of the cash out i quickly remove the money so that was how I could save some of my money from losing it to the casino.

Sometimes taking the cash out is not only in loses, but also one can take cash out in near winning range, what cash out is important depends on the players and his risks tolerance.

Some gamblers dont care about cash out so long that they are betting with the amount of money that they set out to lose or win from and their targets is in the entire winning amount and not in cashing out just any amount.

The part when the casino offered a good amount of money sounds fair and it seems you were given a chance to benefit, I believe if the club had won definitely you’ll be glad you had a nice amount of cash out, the only problem is the amount of win compared to quick cash out are not equal. Gambling is not that simple, is a game of risk and you never know what might happen next including the bookmakers so it’s either you take the 50/50 risk or cash out, from my observation both parties benefit equally though the player is more on the safer side because they make the decision on deciding the outcome of their game.

First of all, I will say here that bookmakers or platforms have started their business mainly to generate revenue. Yes, they come up with many new features every day, in some cases they are beneficial for the users, in this case, being beneficial does not mean that the Book makers are facing losses as a result or that will only help the users.
Rather, those features work like marketing due to which more users are attracted to that platform.
Cash-out is not just attracting user with another feature. Its pricing is actual thing. Suppose my bet has fair current value of $80. But bookmaker gives me $70 as cash out. Then I am effectively sacrificing $10 of value for certainty. So cash out feature is not bad if you know how to use it properly. But it would be wrong to think of it as free risk reduction.

The bookmakers actually benefits more from the cashout option because if majority of the players take the cashout offer on their bets the bookmakers still profit from this and if the bet on the other hand becomes a loss the gambler also avoids losing as well but accumulatively the bookmakers are the ones that are in profits. The more players that uses this option the more edge the bookmakers have and that's how the system was designed. Both sides benefit but the main point I made here is that the bookmakers have a high advantage.
Most important thing for me is to compare implied value. If I make decision based solely on getting some money now, then emotion will control me. But if I look at the current probability and remaining time and compare with cash-out offer, then the decision will be much more rational. BTW, this is why I see cash out as risk management tool rather than any profit strategy.

Cash Out certainly helps the player, but if someone is satisfied by cashing out, then it is helpful for them, but if someone is confused and cashes out, then later they see that they would have won if they had not cashed out, and if they then regret it and become emotional, then the cash out option will work negatively for them.

When I play live games like Blackjack on Pragmatic Play, when I think I will make that bet based on my cards and the dealer's cards, I cash out as much as they offer. Because at that time I think that since I am losing, I will use the amount of money I get back by cashing out as a side bet for the next bet, which will give me a chance to win big. If you can use the cash out option correctly, it is definitely helpful, this is what I think from my experience.

Cash-out not being great for players isn't really news at this point, what's underdiscussed is why the margin on it tends to run worse than your original bet's odds. Pre-match, you can run your bet through an odds comparator and multiple books are fighting for that exact price, that competition is what keeps standard vig down around 4-5% on most markets. Cash-out doesn't work that way, the price is generated live, by your own book, for that exact second, and there's no comparator you can pull up mid-match to check if a competitor would pay more for the same position. Less competition on that specific transaction, no real pressure to keep the margin tight.

Ran some numbers on how much that actually costs over time. Take a plausible cash-out margin somewhere in the 3-12% range, nobody publishes the real figure so treat this as illustrative, not a claimed average, for someone cashing out fifty times a year, roughly weekly. At just 5% margin that's already giving up value equal to more than a full extra pre-match vig on top of your normal betting, purely from the cash-out button. At 8% it's closer to two full vigs. And that's only fifty uses, heavy users of the feature hit that number way faster.

None of this makes cash-out useless, locking a guaranteed win when a game state genuinely turns against you has real value. But treating it as a free convenience with no cost is the mistake, it's a second transaction with its own margin stacked on the first one, and that second margin has zero competitive pressure keeping it honest.

It benefits both parties but the bookmakers more. Sometimes, it could be like a trap whereby a bettor is supposed to win more but would have to settle for something lesser cause the bettor wasn't confident that the game would be green and use it.
However there's something Oshosondy explained that makes lots of sense, which is how bettors are being favoured by the cashout option but the bookmakers would always be superior in as much as they try to be fair to bettors by introducing the it.

Cash out helps in everything, it doesn't end with just gambling alone but in every investments and risks in the world, always cash out, it's just like saying always take profits, in gambling withdraw your wins and keep gambling with money you can afford to lose.

Hmm, greed can certainly influence cashout decision. But what the hell are you talking about? Is cashing out better decision everytime?

Suppose my team’s win probability is now 75%, but bookmaker cashout offer is priced in such way that I am giving noticeable discount compared to fair value of my original bet. Then cashing out just because I am locking in profit is not necessarily any good move. Other hand, if my main goal is to reduce downside or I don’t want to carry this risk anymore, then cashing out may be reasonable for me even with that discount.

Now this brings me to this  question, who actually benefits from the cash out option, is it the bettors or the bookmakers?

This is a very tricky and interesting question. I think it's one of those questions that only real stats from betting services can accurately answer. But if i'm to make a random guess, most especially based on what I think, I think bookmakers or those offering betting services actually benefits more especially from parlay bets. My reason for saying this is very simple... We all can agree that cash out arrangements are never meant to favour bettors. They're calculated in such a way that it still ends up giving more advantage to the betting services, and that's why some bettors gets discourage and don't bother using it. Imagine having a potential win of $100, after placing a bet of $5 but ended up getting a cash out of $20 when there are other fews games left.

Where I think the whole advantage comes from is when the number of bettors who refuse to use the cash out option becomes far greater than those who used the cash out option... Then the services can easily benefit because out of those who refused to cash out, a larger percentage are likely not to get anything while a very few stands a chance of winning the entire prize. But again, it's not like bettors who consistently used the cash out option are sore losers, it's just that betting services are far likely to benefit more because they deal with a lot of customers, and not all uses the cash out option.

Now this brings me to this  question, who actually benefits from the cash out option, is it the bettors or the bookmakers?

Both are benefiting from it, I have seen a situation where a gambler cashed out huge amount of money and later the remaining match cut the bet, meaning the remaining match didn’t go as predicted, and I have also seen a situation where someone cashed out some small amount of money and later on the remaining match that would have made him win huge amount of money went as predicted.
So from this point I have made, it shows that the bettors and bookmakers are benefiting from cash out. It is not one set that is only benefiting, the both are benefiting from it.

The bettor might believe cashout asa risk management option of which I agree because if such a bettor who placed a small amount to bet gets quadruple the amount as a cash out option, to me, it helps secure capital and provides a chance to try again without losing much but not winning big.
The bookmakers obviously benefits more if I may, because bookmakers are the ones getting the discount but if a bettor refuse to cash out, they get long term +EV in the long run even if a loss is incurred at the moment.

Yes, your opinion and mine are pretty much the same,-
but didn't your example make the calculation a little easier? Because if someone bets $80, they will most likely not cash out at $70.

The reason is that even when the cashout gives us $70, the performance of the team we bet on will not change, but we cash out most of the time only when we see that the team we bet on is heading towards losing or their performance is getting worse. In this case, most of the time it is seen that our staked funds are reduced by 50% or more.

You said that if someone uses the cashout option correctly, it will work positively for them, but the thing here is that that person doesn't actually know the future, so he himself won't know in which case using the cashout option will be good or bad for him.

Now this brings me to this  question, who actually benefits from the cash out option, is it the bettors or the bookmakers?

It's an amazing feature so definitely it helps them keep a returning fan base to get and it certainly helps the players, I know I have cashed out before and the feeling was amazing because I wanted to leave it, just like you did but I decided to test the cash out feature and I was satisfied I did.
The auto cash out is even better, where you get to set a pre determined limit, if it reaches the limit you set, it auto cashed out for you without you being there to double doubt before you click the button. The features would always return players back to make another bet depending on the experience they have while using them

This topic came about because of what happened to me today, yesterday I picked some matches which includes yesterday's, today's and tomorrow's games.

All the yesterday's games played out as they were predicted, but when today's games were playing because I had about three games on my ticket, but the game between feyenoord and ADO Den Haag in the Netherlands-Eredivisie was the match that ruined my ticket.

As of when feyenoord and ADO Den Haag were playing I was offered a good about of money as cash out, but I decided not to cash it out and the match ended draw while I predicted home to win.

What makes some gamblers to lose money in gambling is greed , for example you invested in a business with $50 and at the end of the day you had a profit of $100 isn't it a good business? We want to win everything when we can't predict the future, football is unpredictable a team you thought will win can end up losing, while the team you never have any believe on will win there game, so as a gambler if you see a cash out which you already know that you are at profit you can cash it out and don't wait to see what the outcome will be, i know that no gambler will be happy to see that he would have won huge money if he didn't hit the cash out button so as when you would have won little but lost.

Coming to your question now the persons that cash out there funds is the one that has benefited the most that's the bettor and not the bookmakers because you have gotten more than your stake power.

I think is both , first gambling is a game of uncertainty. There are some games where a player may not feel like waiting until the end and may choose to cash out just to secure some profit. Personally is better to secure a portion of the profit than to endup with nothing , I believe some gamblers still share that mindset. While some still prefer the game to end to take their full profit , we know that most time the game won’t go your way so chasing out also help to cut losses .

Is true that most gamblers doesn't cash out their bet but for those who makes use of cash out doesn't mean that they are betting with money that would cause emotional trouble for them, I also allow my bet to play full time without cashing out but sometimes there is a feeling or instinct I would have on the game I will just cash it out but still it wasn't because I cannot afford to loss the amount but I only did it because I have the opportunity to. As for waiting for the game to go far before cashing out also depends on you and also how the team is performing.

Cash-out is just like every other gambling option and gives 50/50 chances to both the player and the casino. Therefore, it will be very difficult to allude to cash-out being favorable to the bookies of to the player. There some games that a player will cash-out and that will make him lose a larger portion of the entire ticket amount. Sometimes too, using cash-out can make the player get some part of the money that he would have lost if he had allowed the game to play full time. I don't know if there is a strategy for using cash-out but there are people that play their games two tickets for that they will cash one ticket out and allow one to complete playing.

We know they will not be equal, but cutting it off is more like reducing the risk of losing all. Because if you consider the potential return and that of the cash out that is given to you, you may decide not to accept the amount they offered to you. Sometimes we don't need to be extremely greedy, personally if I see that my available cash out is 2x the amount I used to stake the bet then I will just accept the offer because I don't know if the game will come out successfully or it will cut at some point because gambling is full of uncertainty.

Definitely both, just take it that whenever a gambler wins and gets the money and cash out. It's not only them that makes money and benefits from it but also the bookmakers.

But if you're an individual who's conscious with winning and you don't want to cash out. You know the risk that awaits ahead of that decision.

So if you're going to conclude and think of who really is beneficial on this one then it's the one who gets the cash out. Because instead of earning profit when you don't do it, it automatically goes to the bookmakers.
