You are probably trying to experiment with Tor here, all I can say is keep your crypto wallet off those devices that you are using or even the one that you want to install Tor on, you can still use Tor and get scammed, phished or hacked.

What's makes you think that most people don't use Tor and VPN? You know everyone here? You have a server or node that monitor wallet addresses and IPs? Tor project is even free, VPN are free and some locations are paid.

Like the other reputable members have said, Tor is for anonymity and privacy but that does not mean there are no scammers and hackers there. As a matter of fact, they operate there much better because of the nature of the browser. For them is safer than Google so anybody can do whatever they want without any trace to their real identity or IP being tracked easily. Tor is more private and anonymous than Google hence it seems more of a good destination for people who so much value their privacy.

There's no need to abandon the usual way of browsing, whatever browser you use the safety is in your hands and it will depend based on the activities you do. If you use tor and yet usually clicks unsolicited links and fills out forms with your information then the usage of tor is nonsense because you still welcomed the potential threats through giving your information. So IMO, what matters most is on how the way you browse. You don't click unknown links, you don't connect your wallets to any random websites, and you avoid emails that seems to be attracting you to click the end-link they have which could be a potential phishing.

I haven't seen Tor as a tool to improve security. In this industry, security is mostly in your hand instead of the hands of a third party. There could be security enhancing tools, but security practices protect you the more.

Tor is better concerned with Privacy rather than security. So while using Tor, don't feel relaxed that you are immuned. Maybe the only immunity is hiding ip.

It's increasingly difficult for average people to bypass Google and her data collection demons. They've dominated everywhere and there's a very little you can do if you are not a privacy guru. O_e_l_e_o was taking me through that path but it wasn't easy for me to cope. I am just like a conscious victim.

If you are a beginner, I really think this Forum has WAY more than enough resources for you to find and grow your knowledge through.  So.  The first thing you should do is look around the Forum and find interesting things you do not know about.  Every time you will learn some thing new, you will be one step away from the beginner level.

Now about Tor, it does not have a direct relationship with Bitcoin or Cryptocurrencies in general.  Tor is a GREAT tool if you need Privacy and if you really do want to hit the brake on your ISP and every other opportunistic corporation spying on you and collecting data on you like you are some plant that needs to be harvested.  I use Tor even right now.  And by the years I am only more and more assured that I am doing the right thing.  Years ago there was no Artificial Intelligence trying to learn your behavior.  One year ago no body even knew what Flock cameras were.  By protecting your Privacy right now, you are also protecting it for the future.  And the more you will ignore this, the more information about you will be out there for interested 'learning machines' to collect and process.

But generally.  Tor is used in an Electrum setup for example to make sure the Internet data that you send outside to the World is anonymized.  It is not a perfect solution but it does help a LOT to use Tor as often as possible.  It will not protect you from getting scammed.  For that, the best tool you have is common sense.  Use it, and be a little bit paranoid.  Ask your self if you really copied the right Address and check it again if you are not 100 percent SURE.  Ask your self why a Billionaire would all of a sudden have a desire to double your Bitcoin by asking you to send yours to them first.  Be cautious and use your common sense!

Search engines have degraded in my opinion over the years a lot.  Every time I had the 'opportunity' to search some thing through Google in the past years, I was annoyed by how bad it got.  Back in the day, you would find any thing you were looking for on the first page or on the second at MOST.  Nowadays you have to doom scroll to find an answer, and pray that it is not an 'AI' article too!

I am not even sure what search engine I would say is best today.  I used to like DuckDuckGo, Ecosia, at some point even Bing but I am either becoming too subjective or they are all degrading over time to a point where you have no more ways of looking things up reliably.  Maybe using multiple engines is the best answer these days.
