Today I was went to place a bet on a cricket match but when I am check that match on the sports book it's shows that the match had been suspended even I checked multiple sportbooks it's seem same couldn't stake on that match.

It is not like that I have seen this kinds of things first time, but on the previouse I just ignore that match for placing bet, and I got the reason is odds provider is not offering odds. But the question: What are the reasons behind this?

As far as my experience goes, matches are suspended for several reasons, such as:

- Extreme weather (this is the most common one)
- Security disturbance

When the 2 conditions mentioned above occur, bookies usually also freeze the market. Some instances are related to events outside the match itself, while others are not, as an example, you might find bookies freezing the market when the match is nearing its conclusion.

Is it a live match or pre game bet, if it a pre game match bet what you should understand is that there are various reasons for match suspension and we can not really start a match until the real game began and even though casinos and bookmakers or tournaments organizers put time for a match doesn't mean something can shift or even suspend a match.

There is no reason for a match to be suspended in cricket. There can be several reasons, especially if the match is suddenly delayed or stopped due to weather conditions, then the casino authorities write the update of that match as suspended. I also bet on a few matches where if the game is delayed due to rain, they write suspended in the bet space until the game resumes. However, if the game resumes, the match update continues at a normal pace and it is possible to take bets again.

I’m no gambling expert and I’m sure there are plenty of reasons why this could happen. The one I would assume is most often responsible though, is probably when the sports book finds too many bets on one side and the event no longer is profitable for them under every scenario, so they pause and probably only take 1 side of bets behind the scenes with partners (or some other solution) until the odds and bets falls back where they should be.

There are several reasons that can make the betting on a particular match be suspended, and one of those reasons could be when the Sport booking company is not very sure of the game taking place on the exact scheduled date, and another reason might be if the sports booking company notices an error in the odds allocation to the game, as they can suspend it for a while in order to fix it. And thirdly, another reason might include medical emergencies between the key players that were supposed to participate in the game, which can be maybe as a result of an accident or they just became medically unfit to partake in the event at the scheduled date, and because of that, the game needs to be suspended and rescheduled. And there are lots of other reasons that can result in a game being suspended, but this is just a few.

From my own little understanding a match can be suspended if the sportsbook is not receiving fresh odds from the sportsbook's odds provider.

This could actually happen for various reasons such as an unforeseen event during the game, the odds fluctuating too rapidly or possibly even some technical problems.  This is why at times you may see the same game being suspended on two different sportsbooks at the same time. The best thing to do at times is to simply wait while they start to re-offer the odds.

It is not permanently suspended, sometimes it happens like if there is a big change in the odds then it is held or suspended for a short time for the finance decision. Sometimes it happens during the wicket. It can also happen that the odds provider is late in giving new odds so it is suspended so that no one can place a new bet. If you wait a little, you will see that after a while you will get the opportunity to place a bet again and then you will see that the odds have changed. Perhaps you are new to sportsbooks so this normal thing is difficult for you to understand and you may be scared by seeing the word suspended.
