Where is the Creativity?

That was what I was getting at. We stopped trying to solve real-world problems. I think I am fed up and will do something about it. Some may not agree with my assertions, but nobody will be able to claim the project is not at the frontier of the space. Somewhere along the way, people forgot that Bitcoin was a revolution and not just an investment. I have, for the past 8 years, always said that the prevailing crypto economics are misaligned with real-world usage. Meanwhile, I think our overlords are going to cram CBDC's down our throats before anything appreciable happens in this space.

You can just lead as example rather then waiting for others to do it.

People wanted adoption but they didn't get what it would mean for bitcoin or cryptos. This space attracts greedy and rich people, and rich people aren't much for any sort of revolution because they have too much to lose over it. They benefit too much from the status quo. So why wouldn't money direct where we are going?

There are projects that want to solve real world problems, but if developers want to get any attraction they need to be regulatory compliant. And most of the tech that's supposed to be "real world" is just meta use cases for crypto-sphere. And all this is just drown under the noise of absurdity of this all. Trump shilling his shitcoin and stuff like that.

Ya, I am talking about altcoins in particular. I don't expect Bitcoin to move fast or anything, so it's definitely directed at altcoins in general. Maybe I am an oldie, but there was a lot more innovation between 2015-2021 or so than there is now.

You don’t need to be surprised when you see the Bitcoin moving faster. Because there’s big a difference between the Bitcoin and altcoins, there’s many altcoins projects that has been lunched and at the end of day it doesn’t ended well; a lots of people’s has been scams, so in this case if you where the one you will trust any of those altcoins projects? Bitcoin has been become the best coins in all over the world that’s everyone trust the Bitcoin, for a very long time now all the altcoins market has gone down without any sign of pump talkless of moving towards.

Bitcoin still doesn't really scratch the itch that it used to in being digital cash. I don't think all the solutions are currently available but it seems like people just moved the goalposts and became complacent. A lot of altcoins are scams but it would be crazy to say all altcoins are scams. Absolutism is rarely the way outside of obvious moral supremes.

I think part of the problem is that creativity doesn't only mean new technology or a new use case.

A lot of projects today feel interchangeable. New token, new branding, promises of utility, then the same marketing playbook.

Some of the most memorable projects in crypto weren't necessarily the most technically innovative — they had identity, culture and a reason for people to care about them.

Maybe the next wave of creativity will come not only from building something new, but from building something people can actually connect with.

I had actually left the space for four years just due to sheer burnout and it seems like we are still having the same discussions with the same subset of problems. What happened to innovation and pushing the envelope? Is anyone else thoroughly dissatisfied?

Altcoins were never all that innovative in the first place. Well, other than low transaction fees, DeFI and NFT's, there has not been much of a demand for altcoins as they are all basically carbon copies of the one true cryptocurrency: Bitcoin.

Everything else is just lying to yourself.

Although I do like to dabble in altcoinery every now and then. Sometimes it is a very profitable investment. Especially considering the top 10 coins.

Good luck with that, things have changed in few years and there are thousands of tokens launches per day. It's likely that all all those ears are just avoiding all the advertisements of countless different tokens.

Even if you are putting money to marketing, there are so many other scam projects that with deep pockets who hire new influencers to hype their next scams. Some of these profits are just for hyping the next scam.

These people have teams and bots ready to make new concepts filled with fake followers and fake buzz. So you are against a lot of the noise. If your tech isn't revolutionary and talked by respected coders, you need ton of luck to be heard. If i say that this place is saturated, it would be an understatement.

Are you referring to altcoins or this forum? Which creativity are you referring to? It will be good if you can explain what you are referring to in a betterbthag people can understand.

I agree that there used to be far more innovation. Right now, it’s a total wasteland—forget about innovation everyone is just chasing easy money. In the past, developers actually strove to build something solid they raised funds for that purpose, which is why ICOs were held. Nowadays, however, the situation has become absolutely terrible. Everyone is dissatisfied with the current state of affairs.

I'm launching basically bitcoin-style. No fan-fare, no marketing, and mostly just letting the project speak for itself. Haha you can see how I would be a bit worried about falling on deaf ears given a launch like that.

I can tell you, I have changed so much about consensus Bitcoin that it is not just a carbon copy of Bitcoin. I almost assume it's going to be highly provocative if it does work well and gain some traction.

That's what I've been wondering about, too. The industry has shifted away from utility into pure speculation for quite some time. Crypto/Blockchain tech's true essence is slowly fading away. We now see a vast number of "meme" coins on the market which serve no purpose in the real world. Everything's highly-speculative these days. Developers don't care, as long as their pockets are filled with money. Same goes with investors and traders alike. They just want to make money as fast as possible.

In the old days, developers strived for delivering true usability to the community. Serious money was flowing into the market, allowing many early coins to retain their prices for long. Those days are over. Now we see many coins come and go, as people move on to the next big thing. No creativity/innovation whatsoever. Crypto is open source, so there's still hope. We'll see what happens in the long run.

Give me a few more weeks. People might not love all of the conclusions I have come to and the changes that followed but nobody can say it's a carbon copy or just useless hype. I am done with regtest hardening now so next is testnet, among some other things.
