I can actually be wrong about this 😕 But i still want to say.
It seems people on this forum hated the fact that BIP110 fork and blake2b exists, because no one is talking about it and the only single thread that says something was been shut down 👎 like it's a disease that no one should be talking about.
Anyways, if you own Bitcoin before August 8th 2026, it means you are probably going to control coins on the Bip110 fork chain, the blake2b hardfork is said to go live on September 1st, why am I saying all this?
You may already be seeing websites, mails, phone calls, all telling you about how to claim your new coins before it's too late, please don't do it, because right now..
1. There is no deadline. 2. There is no official claiming website. 3. No official wallet to download.
There is absolutely no reason to give anyone your seedphrases or private keys. Even according to BitcoinBIP110.org, if anyone is telling you to claim this coin before some deadline they are lying.
I've done what I feel is right, to limit stories that touches later on the forum.

If there is a fork, there will be a block when the fork happens, and with blockchain snapshots, people can claim their forked coins based on that, and they can do anytime later. No deadline to claim forks. Claiming a forked coin is risky and it must be claimed with an empty wallet after you already moved your bitcoin to another wallet. Because as said, claiming does not need to have bitcoin in a wallet at the claiming time. There is absolutely no reason to give anyone your seedphrases or private keys.
Claiming needs private key, and that's a reason why you must do claiming with an empty wallet. LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service).

Something that never had any support and couldn't even mine 2 blocks after they forked off is not something anybody wants (5 blocks total in 25 days which is an average of 1 block every 5 days LOL). Consequently nobody talks about it either. We can even call it dead even though the centralized entity behind it is trying so hard to keep this shitfork alive. Irregardless, the rest of your post is good advice. Although you should have also included the risks of shitforks and claiming them since you'll have to move coins in a dead chain without replay protection and you'd have to download some software that does it for that chain...

Anyways, if you own Bitcoin before August 8th 2026, it means you are probably going to control coins on the Bip110 fork chain
If you don't have serious privacy concern, just visit https://mempool.guide/ or other BIP 110 explorer to see if you own any BIP 110 coin. Note that some explorer still use word "BTC" or "Bitcoin" that may confuse you. the blake2b hardfork is said to go live on September 1st, why am I saying all this?
Based on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5590802.msg67094972#msg67094972 and BIP 110 explorer, it already happened few days ago. 3. No official wallet to download.
You could use Bitcoin Knots as wallet. But when i write this reply, latest version of Bitcoin Knots released a month ago, which means no proper support for blake2b hard fork.

This is an important warning. Regardless of any fork claims, nobody should ever share their seed phrase or private keys with a website, email sender, or caller. Being cautious about scams and waiting for verified information is absolutely the right approach.

There is no deadline, do not get scammed Sure, there is no deadline. However, if BIP-110 rules will expire on their Blake chain, and won't be renewed after a year, by some more restrictive soft-fork, then some transactions from BTC may be replayed on BIP-110 chain later. But anyway: if they will keep fighting with the spam, then there should be that way or another, to relay something, which they would block. And of course, all coins, touched by newly minted blocks, will remain splitted. a dead chain without replay protection They introduced SIGHASH_UNIFIED, so people can use it, if they want to split their coins. you'd have to download some software that does it for that chain If you don't want to install Knots, then you don't have to. All that is needed, is using P2PK, 84 bytes OP_RETURN, or anything else they blocked. All transactions can be signed from Core, and once you split your coins, they will remain splitted, because the effort to unsplit them is quite huge, and require making identical coinbase transactions on both chains. latest version of Bitcoin Knots released a month ago, which means no proper support for blake2b hard fork Which is why using anything they blocked, and making a self-transfer, is a safer way, and works since the beginning of their fork, even before they turned into Blake: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5590674.msg67025339#msg67025339

I do not know if this has happened before but it can happen, any website that tell you to put your seed phrase down on their website to claim the forked coins is a lie, they may want to use it to steal your cryptocurrencies. It is also good to claim the coins using an empty wallet after all coins on the wallet has been transferred to another wallet, then you can begin the process.

Are you guys seeing how some YouTubers are making a big deal out of mining blake2b? They claimed to be making ROI under 24hours, and I don't care about that. It's going to be a dead end, but some scammers will see this as an advantage to steal from people, I just don't want to hear some stories about losing the real Bitcoin for some shit sidelined forks later.

Well the actual danger of forks isn’t actually the fork itself but the scams the surrounds it and it’s crucial to really understand this. I really don’t see any reason why people would want to rush into any claiming process or even go as far as exposing their seed phrases or private keys on the process. If the so called claiming process is actually legit, users should be able to verify it independently without necessarily having to compromise the security of their Bitcoin.

If their teams are capable technically, they did not have need of forking from Bitcoin. Because of incapability, they chose an easy task: forking from Bitcoin, making a name related to Bitcoin, and trying to shill their coins as either real Bitcoin with Satoshi vision or a coin that is Bitcoin killer. All such actions are from incapable developers so it's not surprising to see their projects, their fork coins fail with time. Opinion: BIP-110 Failure Highlights Bitcoin’s Consensus Resilience.

People rush into claiming process because of the pressure they have been put under by scammers who know how to use words to put people under a situation where they make decisions too quickly under pressure that they cannot slow down to think about it properly. This is why they always put you under some form of emergency because emergency and rational thinking do not always go the same way. If the so called claiming process is actually legit, users should be able to verify it independently without necessarily having to compromise the security of their Bitcoin.
Many users do not have that knowledge that they should be able to independently make verification, the more reason they become victims. Scammers will put you under pressure and prey on your lack of knowledge.

Scammers try to use Bitcoin forks for stealing actual Bitcoin from people who don't know how to claim Bitcoin forks safely and people who sell actual bitcoin to buy Bitcoin forks. I try to find a meme of a fishing rod with Bitcoin Cash, and behind that another person try to steal Bitcoin from a man. I can not find that meme which was very famous to visualize how Roger Ver team tried to scam people with Bitcoin Cash but that meme is true with other Bitcoin forks too. That meme is classic but perhaps I searched with not a relevant word so I could not find that meme.

I thought we have moved pass this dumb behavior, anyone that can pull this knows nothing about Bitcoin. If you are going to get a forked coin, it means that you have hold Bitcoin and not anywhere, inside a self custody. There is no way you can have Bitcoin in a personal wallet and protected seed phrase for long only to paste it in a website. For you to have any forked coin, you must have Bitcoin which is mostly likely equivalent, not sure anyone with Bitcoin would want to try it but we have people that are slow and not smart. People should also avoid forked coins, don't buy them. I don't think there is any successful coin that was forked from Bitcoin that was successful for once. They only make noise for some days and then go down like they are not worth anything, you will lose your money qnd your investment. It's better if such investment are diverted to Bitcoin so you can have peace.

So actually the fork is just not interesting and most likely dead, but the problem is when scammers try to use it to trick people who don't have good knowledge about Bitcoin.. scammers might use misleading claims or fake promises that might make people believe that the fork is more legitimate and they can get more Bitcoin if they claim it.. this is why it is necessary to be careful and not believe anything said by unknown people.. search and verify before taking any action or better yet ignore messages from unknown people that seem suspicious.

People do perish for lack of knowledge after all. That’s why sometimes I don’t really blame some people whenever they end up falling into traps of ignorance. But that doesn’t justify the fact they should overlook the importance of doing one’s research, especially newbies. They become too focused on only accumulating Bitcoin but forgetting or not knowing that in order to stay safe in the space one needs to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge.

They become too focused on only accumulating Bitcoin but forgetting or not knowing that in order to stay safe in the space one needs to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge. Your last sentence hits on the main reason why I appreciate this Bitcointalk forum, because if one is conversant enough to at least stay updated here, without even needing social media or TV or newspapers, they can effectively invest in Bitcoin by accumulation and avoid the pitfalls of scammers or be exposed to hacks. Also, I give kudos to OP for being outright in bringing this post up, because most of us were not aware such happened and this is a pure example of a possibility of seed phrase extraction scam that could happen during such fork process. While most people both here and in the real world sense may think this BIP-110/Blake2b is perhaps an altcoin that's incompatible, it's wise to note that it is simply a consensus upgrade. We should take caution to inform others who may be confused thinking that some links are official tools and the alternative practice I can advice is to at least apply caution and move your mainnet BTC to a new address created from a new seed phrase Incase there's need to interact with any fork coin, just to be safer.

I remember Hosea 4:6. @OP, I think it's better if you change the title of this thread. This won't get that much attention from people if there's no actual subject about the potential scam of BIP110 fork/blake2b. Because with the title you've made, this will be ignored by those who needs to know it. But, there's no forcing in it and maybe they'll land on this one once they have encounter some fake email notifications. Are you guys seeing how some YouTubers are making a big deal out of mining blake2b? They claimed to be making ROI under 24hours, and I don't care about that.
I wonder if these influencers are paid to do a shitshow.
