BTCHey everyone, I'm trying to figure out how P2P trading works practically here in Lithuania, specifically regarding SEPA transfers and bank compliance. If someone is using a restricted local bank account (like a student or junior type) at SEB and attempts a cross-border SEPA transfer for a P2P trade with a trusted vendor, what usually happens? Specifically: - Will SEB's compliance or anti-fraud filters automatically flag or block a cross-border P2P transfer? - Since the account has tighter oversight, is it practically guaranteed to trigger account freezes or closer KYC checks? Any advice from people familiar with local banking behavior or P2P mechanics would be appreciated.

That's very specific. And I doubt that you can count on others' experience if they aren't from Lithuania. I'm not from Lithuania as well but my experience is more of finding the right vendor that can pay me via local bank so that it wont have to a cross-border transfer. If the P2P platform is good, you might find a trusted one from your country. I would point you to try the Lithuanian local thread but it seem to be inactive. Anyways, try to ask here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=24339.380You can link this thread to your reply there as well.

I'm from Lithuania, but unfortunately, not customer of SEB bank. But knowing our banks, there is high chance that such transfer will trigger their systems, especially when we are talking about restricted account. Personally, I wouldn't risk in your case. Don't know, maybe I would tryo one of online banks, something like Revolut or similar. Yeah, this topic is completely dead, but it doesn't means that there is no members from Lithuania. There is at least several active members besides me.

There's countless banks all over Europe that will open you an account remotely without more checks than a passport and a proof of address.
Just sign up to an account in another country where these checks aren't enforced. It's your legal right as an EU citizen. I can't understand why any bank would give you access to a limited account just because you're a student but anyway. That will.be Lithuania's problem to figure out once you open a bank account somewhere else and you're out of their enforcement.
Good luck

I am not from Lithuania but I can advice you two options since your country Lithuania uses the euro as official currency since last year 2025 (found the info online): - Check for a trusted vendor from binance P2P. SEPA transfers are available in payment options for P2P trades and you can discuss the details with the vendor to avoid unexpected restrictions from SEB. Easy to check the vendor reputation through his trading history and feedback. - Try to find a trusted vendor from bitcointalk community. Trusted members won't hesitate to guide you to the best options for you. Just avoid deals with unknown users because you might receive a lot of offers from many users. You can also make p2p trading with cash and avoid any traces with bank accounts. There are several options you can check but I suggest starting first with Peach Bitcoin app, or more complex Bisq decentralized exchange. If you want to do everything by the book maybe it's better to talk with legal adviser to get more precise information for your specific country.

Doing P2p using cash based is provably the most safest and cleanest option to use, if OP or other people want to avoid traces from banks. That platforms you suggest is truly a good options to use for this situation. But OP also need to know that, there's still a risk even if he use this tools. Because its hard to verify if the strangers they meet is good and not the criminal ones and hard to deal large amount in public. So he need to be more careful doing a transaction like this. But much really better for him to look for someone have experience in their country, on how to deal with this matter. To make sure that he won't create any mistakes and to minimize the risk of his upcoming transactions.

I don't think it will be a problem at all, since SEB Lithuania supports Euro Payment Transfer. It's on there: https://www.seb.lt/en/business/daily-banking/payments/european-paymentsIf someone is using a restricted local bank account (like a student or junior type) at SEB and attempts a cross-border SEPA transfer for a P2P trade with a trusted vendor, what usually happens?

The question for you. How much money and how much transaction you will do? If the amounts are very large and you have repeated transactions with multiple resources, even with the same user but with many transactions. Could be lead to an investigation or trigger some flags to you. As you can see in the SEB Lithuania Personal Data Processing Policy, they are monitoring the transactions. They also have an automated system for filtering transaction like; amount transaction, currency transaction, and other factor related to fraud transaction patterns. Source: https://www.seb.lt/en/seb-lithuania-personal-data-processing-policy
I think this is just my two cents. If the transaction are just happened 1x times and the amount is very small, the chance you getting any of these is pretty small. However, I'm not guaranteeing these, but just my two cents.

Not that in the Centralized or regulating monetary system, a restricted account will ever remain invalid until it is enable activated. Some restricted accounts may allow deposit inflow but denies users the access of withdrawal. So for you to be in the safer side OP, note that the vendors on the crypto P2P maybe reputable but are not in the authority position to regulate your bank accounts for you. Even his (vendors) account can be restricted if he is finds guilty so don't think the vendors has a possession to rectify your account errors. He can only proceed with the P2P transaction if your bank permits, transaction payment deposit can be made but if they don't then the transaction will bounce back and vendor may ask you to provide another account number to proceed. Note that you are still around the horizon of the authorities as long as banks and exchange is concerned.

What I can advise in this case is to ensure the person transferring funds to you bears same name on the P2p platform they are using. Try to ensure you keep screenshot of transactions handy in case there's any altercation that ensues later on. You can also opt for fintech bank use in your jurisdiction like the use of Revolut or Paysera instead of going through a bank channel. Crypto currency is still a sensitive issue in most regions of the world and even using a restricted account is more exposed to the dangers of having your funds frozen or subject to AML policies.

No point of doing it because our local topic wasn't very active since beginning and with our population there is no potential that it can become more active. From what I see our people prefer to discuss crypto stuff on Telegram, Discord or Facebook groups. And yes, there is some CEX's operating in our country, so, you can avoid cross-boarder transfers. I would say that my country is quite crypto friendly, but not when it comes to banks. I am not from Lithuania but I can advice you two options since your country Lithuania uses the euro as official currency since last year 2025 (found the info online):
Nope, don't always trust information that you found on internet - we use Euro since 2015, not 2025.

I think some trading platform MAY actually have an inbuilt external feature that could diagnose registered banking accounts in the site which registration process usually captions the Kyc or designations of the bank accounts. Of course this maybe quite convince able to be true as long as the respective accounts is generated or sponsored by the authorities. So since there's always this alliance's within the regulating companies it's should be possible that red flags local accounts can still be detective from the third parties ends. It's like a dormant account can't be valid offshore. Once barred is barred. So the transaction would always bounce back unsuccessful.

I'm not from Lithuania but I live in another country in the European Union, and afaik the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) establishes the free movement of capital between member states, therefore, transactions, even if they come from another EU country, should not be treated very differently from domestic transactions.
I have carried out P2P SEPA transactions with other countries of the Union in the past and I have never had a problem, but that it hasn't happened to me in my country should be taken with a grain of salt, especially since I don't know the details of the restricted local bank accounts you mention. But, in general, I would say that as long as transfers are not made with tax havens or other exotic countries, in most cases it should not be a particular concern.
This is not advice, just my opinion based on my experience in a different country and with a different type of account, in case it helps you, but if it is large amounts or if the repercussions of there being a problem would be serious in your case you should seek specialised help.

I have a bad feeling about a restricted local bank account on a general. Restricted accounts are known for going against the rules that govern the banking system. There is a reason why the bank itself is restricted from cross-border payments. Whether the P2P transaction is coming from a trusted vendor, I think the transfers will be flagged for AML.

And maybe if at all the transaction goes successful, it is going to be a long explanatory story for him because the money will be stucked in that account that he can not withdraw it which I trusts it won't even go successful in the first place. Just be careful when dealing with a regulating system because such as bank may act like they don't even know your tricks when trying to bypass the rules. The money could be seized and there is nothing you can do about it because once transaction is successful the authority will be alerted and red flag the account. If you are not trying to hide anything behind this circumstance I will advice that you create another local bank account and make sure you pass all the necessary KYCs. The bank is not like the Decentralized Bitcoin network where you can process transaction border lessly and unquestionable.
