I was in gathering where an individual was trying to convince people to join a scheme that sounded like another pyramid scheme, and on my observation I noticed that he changed language to have more persons around easily able to understand him and it seemed to work because at the end of his speech and explanation in our pidgin english, he was able to convince people to especially older people to try out what he was saying.

Now I dey think, do you think that language is somehow a barrier for some set of older people to invest in bitcoin, like if we start to dey use pidgin or our local dialects dey explain bitcoin and how people fit benefit from am to some set of old people like we go fit convince them? because the english wey we dey use sometimes take explain this bitcoin so dey make am be like say na one hard thing for some kind old people, e dey make them nor de interested. wetin you think?

"If you go to Rome, behave like a Roman" that's what that potential schemer did, most elderly in our country are not very good with English cause many didn't have the opportunity to get quality education, how can you interact or convince such people about a digital currency if not through pidgin or a local dialect they understand.
Our politicians do that alot during their campaigns in rural areas they have to come down to those elderly folk's understanding by using pidgin or local dialect. So if you wish to convince any elderly person around you about Bitcoin you'll need to adopt such strategy. Afterall an understood language improves good communication, also helps with clarity and trust.

If you go to the locals, you speak the language they understand, so that if you want to tell them anything, they'll wasily know wetin you the talk, there is this my guys that school in the northern part of Nigeria, that guy knows how to speak Hausa very well, I go say em the chew the language scatter, and because of that, any of those show cobblers easily interact with him every well, they also run discount for am and some time amen pams and show for am for free based on say he knows how to speak the language and they can understand him, language can make someone pay attention to your what you've to say, even if it might be difficult for some locals to invest in a digital asset like Bitcoin, explaining for them by making use of pidgin or their local language might make them to be interested in it and find a means of knowing how they can invest, conviction comes from what we tell people and it must be with the language they understand.

Language student be a major barrier, but what seems to be an obstacle here is the fact that older people may not be able to comprehend to understand bitcoin better like the Young adults, age factor is one of the Major constraints that we determine how an older person will develop interest in learning Bitcoin, remember it has never been an easy to ask even for the young ones to learn except the remain committed to it and also vigilant over the security measures, so lesser is the impact of language barrier than the impact this is going to influence upon the ability they needed to secure their assets after being introduced into Bitcoin.

What happened is a normal psychological response to information/learning. People are more influenced with the language that they understand best. Even with Nigeria English (pidgin), there are some informations that can't be passed to some people because of their mental capacity so using the language they best understand makes it more simpler.

So using the language people understand best when trying to educate people who are not fluent in English not just old people about Bitcoin investment is an important move that can bring a convincing understanding about Bitcoin investment thereby triggering their interest to kick start investing but this has a lot to do with the trust they have on the educator.

The thing is, will you help hundreds or even thousands of people monitor their investments while holding their keys and taking on the risk of effectively acting as a custodian for them, just because the process of investing in Bitcoin doesn't use Pidgin or whatever language they’re familiar with? If not ( which I definitely don't think you can) then they’re better off investing in something they’re familiar with.

There’s no problem with explaining and teaching them what Bitcoin is all about in whatever language you’re considering. If that helps them understand it better, then fine you’ve done a great job. And if they wish to go ahead with investing without getting confused, let them do so with proper guidance.

If they still don't understand how to proceed after you've explained it that's fine too, don't t force them or try to handle everything for them. The knowledge they’ve gained is already sufficient to help them move from being completely unfamiliar with Bitcoin to having a basic understanding of it.

My own be say to teach person Bitcoin no be by Force, anybody wey wan learn go learn regardless of the language, some people even if you use pidgin Dem no go still invest. As for me I no fit waste time teach old person Bitcoin because Dem no fit dey zealous to learn like the youth. Bitcoin Investment for good for young people so that by the time Dem don reach old age Dem go dey expect their investment to be their retirement benefits. But if Dem start investment for old age, e go hard Dem to know about security and how to dey invest. Old age go make Dem even reveal their privacy to people around them, and Dem fit hack their account.

Aside from introducing Bitcoin to elderly people that doesn't understand English properly, there are other things we explain to them in our native tongues; there are no strict rules that say people should only use one language to explain anything to anyone. The main point of the explanation is to make them understand whatever you are saying. During an explanation, you just need to do whatever is necessary to make others understand what you are saying; if not, you are only wasting your time.

You can use any means of communication to introduce or explain Bitcoin to anyone; what matters is if they understand what you are saying. There's a reason why we have many languages, and you can also use them if necessary to make sure that whoever you are talking to understands you perfectly. It's not only elderly people that doesn't understand English properly, but most young people also don't understand English properly because they are not brought up in a civilised environment.

I don’t know but I have understood that even before we approach anyone about investing in bitcoin, it either we are close to such person a lot or a bit but definitely we would have interact with them before. We can’t just find people on the road side and instantly trying to convince them or approach them into bitcoin investment and how it can be of benefits to them of course not and when we are not those NGO people or those that go around with their companies flyers to work for them, people we know are those we try to convince to come into bitcoin investment because we know the benefits it will offer them.
Let me get to the point since my story is getting longer,  So my point here is that we know the language they understands much better and the ones that will break down the explanation to them in simpler terms, we just need to figure out which one and explain to them in that manner.

Depending on the age bracket, language might not really be the constraint because those that are aged might think that bitcoin is too complex for them to understanding hence it might not interest them to invest even if you decide to use your local dialect in explaining things to them. If an older person can not cope with the conventional banking system that is around them, convincing them to invest in bitcoin considering how volatile bitcoin is is a lot of stress on the part of the person introducing bitcoin to them.

The difference between bitcoin and Ponzi scheme is that bitcoin is legit while Ponzi scheme is not and those trying to convince people to get involved in Ponzi scheme are mostly selfish people that don't care what happens afterwards. before trying to convince elderly people to invest in bitcoin, be sure you are ready to walk them through all the times of bear and bull.

I believe say language na barrier to why many people never join Bitcoin or accept am as an investment opportunity because them no too understand the big oyibo English wey we dey speak sometimes and if den fit understand pidgin or local dialect, Dem go dey easily convinced to join.
Even if we dey speak English, e no good to blow big grammar wey people no really understand because e go just be like say Dem dey enjoy the grammar pass the thing wey you dey try to teach Dem.

I do agree with your standpoint that people should rather invest in what they're better in knowledge about than drifting towards what they would be struggling with doing it right. One thing is to develop interest about an asset to learn about how to invest properly because no body would monitor your investment in the way you would by yourself. And letting someone else be custodian of your asset doesn't really translate to you having a full ownership of that asset because it's not just you that has access with the keys, and this has nothing to do with language barrier.

While language I also agree might be one of the things discouraging the older people from investing in Bitcoin as some of the rarely understand English, I think we also should not forget that the Bitcoin network is programmed in English. It's very okay to teach them about Bitcoin using our local languages as well as pidgin but it's also necessary to let understand the English part of it so they'll know how to make basic transactions using Bitcoin

The term and language the old people use is quite different from what the young people use, we have a lot of new words that sounds strange to the old people so communicating with a language they would understand should be the best marketing strategy.

Bitcoin is quite complex and can be more confusing when its not explained properly, but the use of practical local examples can give them the blueprint of what it is, that could be what the person in question did to convince people around him which seems smart.

Technical incompetence is the biggest obstacle here. Language can be a barrier, but in the case of older people, technical incompetence is the biggest obstacle. You may not be able to make them proficient in using Bitcoin even after a long training or give them a proper idea about the technical advantages of Bitcoin. Because older people prefer to invest in traditional assets, they still hesitate to get used to modern technology.

Most of the time, scams are designed in a way that seems very convenient for older people and also seems very easy to use. The most important thing is that scams are designed based on temptation. But the language of Bitcoin is never as sweet as a scam, which is why it is difficult for you to succeed even if the fraudsters are successful. Using Bitcoin is still very complicated for older people, because most older people still cannot properly use smartphones or smart devices, which are necessary for using Bitcoin.

I don't think using pidgin English would make people that are not interested in Bitcoin to invest, because most of these old men are well educated people with degrees. Sometimes we need to understand that investing in Bitcoin is a matter of personal decision, because there's no way you can force someone invest in Bitcoin unless you are in charge of the person's funds before you would be able to decide for him. That's why we often say that we shouldn't force someone into Bitcoin investment. Especially the old people, because no matter what language you use use on them it might not still charge their decision. That's just the simple truth about it.
