This has been the least volatile market since 2009 after every 4 years. Some people expected bitcoin to drop below $40000, but bitcoin did not drop below $57700 for now and probably bitcoin will not drop below the price. So how is the market dropping off more than we you expected?

Bitcoin is now over $77000 which mean bitcoin is not below 50% of its all time high. Just hold, bitcoin will later get to all time high, but it will require long period of time.

For sure last year was definitely a positive year on bitcoin to give the ATH of about $120k but I doubt if it’s the best year to bitcoin holder. Why I said so it looking at the percentage gain compared to the earlier year like 2013, 2017 and even 2020 was the best years of bitcoin that it reach it ATH as at then and the percentage gained in those years were far more than what people got from the last year recent ATH.
Bitcoin always take people by surprise when changing its price movements, if you wonder how long we are going to wait for another pump to get to a new ATH, then I will just say keeping calm and believing it will always come by surprise and boom you’re already seeing the green everywhere. Just keep going with building your portfolio and believe in the system, those people that say huge profits in 2017 almost gave up too at some point.

In the first place, there is no one in any position has the right to decide your risk levels of when to sell your Bitcoin but you should be wise enough to know that as you holds the coin for an asset value and not a token for our everyday expenses as the fiats may serve to pay for goods and services which Bitcoin is not exceptional all the same, if you can agree with me that the goal of holding the Bitcoin is to hedge against inflations and same time, yielding you profits, then you should be able to hold it until you reaches your investment goals.

You don't need to be mindedly manipulated to make decisions of selling over short term market influence, you don't even need to sell under pressure but sell when you desires it. Of course it could be for necessary needs but if you have a backup funds you don't need to sell under pressure. You can also sell when you are pleased with the profits outcome.
Long term goal is always preferable to hold so that you would have enough time to multiply your profits.

Also remember that ATH comes and goes that if you sell out of FOMO, better days will come when Bitcoin prices will multiply the previous ATH.

Bullish or bearish, it depends on each person or institutional investors. The risk, disadvantage of some investors will be great opportunities for the other investors. Some see the market bearish, some see the market bullish especially if they vision the market in upcoming months and years.

Forget about that, focus on investment for long term portfolio, holding and before that you must do accumulation. If you feel Bitcoin future is very bullish, your biggest wish will be having more time for accumulation. You will not wish Bitcoin to break out from bottom of bear market too soon.

I'm sorry to say this but I am disappointed that it came from a hero member and not a newbie, like the four year cycle is something that Avery high ranking members on this forum understand, this type of question shouldn't be coming from a hero member of this forum, we are not there yet and we will soon be there, 2026 isn't even over yet.

If I were you I'd keep using DCA strategy until the very end, till the market instantly changes again, but I thought many people believe that we are still going under 58k? Many people aree also expecting that we will double bottom from here, which side are you on? Bitcoin investment isn't for you if you can't have some patience.

I believed that time attributed to the noise of Donald Trump as he campaigned for President and bullish on bitcoin and some retailers and even whales jump of the hype on his narrative and ultimately we can see how some of them unload at peak. Honestly Im not sure why its gone up so fast during that time considering we just had a good run. But historically we all knew the prime movement is during near bitcoin halving like in the past.

The market has bull and bear fighting against each other but in long term, bull wins against bear. Bitcoin has been in a bear market many months and it's very risky to try playing against the bull because there will be short squeeze anytime.

With this high risk in coming months, people will have to forget about the bear, and prepare their capital, actions towards future months with direction controlled by the bull. They must seriously think of stop trading and shorting Bitcoin with leverage and futures trading markets in coming months. The answer to this question is relative. Everyone who invest in Bitcoin do it for different reasons. Some keep it for privacy reasons, while others want to make profits. Those who want to make money from holding Bitcoin have plans. The plan would include when to buy, at what price, and when to sell. Some have four years, while other investors might have designed a plan over one cycle. How long will depend on how much risk I am willing to take and at what price or time I am willing to sell my Bitcoin. Mature investors don't care about the FUD and FOMO;  they simply stick to the plan.

Whatever the initial price you bought Bitcoin and if you are still holding it until now, my advice is that you can be patient and hold it until at least 2028.
This is common and experienced with Bitcoin, a halving phenomenon that many Bitcoin users or investors have been waiting for, from experience that has happened every time a halving occurs on Bitcoin, the price in the market will create a new ATH, that is a fact that actually happens.

For me, try to survive until the next Halving, yesterday's halving created an ATH of $126k, I'm sure the next halving will create a Bitcoin price of up to $150k or $18k.

They understand what they are holding, and the drop in the price of Bitcoin is not a reason for them to sell. Holding Bitcoin is a mindset, and you can develop a better mindset based on the understanding you have. If you don't understand the volatility of Bitcoin, holding may seem boring to you. Holding is all about having patience and understanding of the market, knowing that even if the price of Bitcoin drops, it is just for the moment, and a time will come when the price of Bitcoin will also increase.

 It's your call, op. I believe everyone is entitled to doing what they want with their coins and it's all dependent on you if you think the market isn't as favorable as you feel it should be or the bear season has taken longer than you planned, it's your call to make the next move.
However, as someone who has opted to hold for a long period, it's advisable to continue holding cause I've got the feeling that this short surge we saw earlier will not be the end and it would still shoot up. Maybe September could shock us and present a new ATH, who knows?

I agree with you on that and no matter what this last ATH we had should be appreciated because it hasn't been on this particular pace for sometime now, we can't discard what we witnessed in 2013, 17 and 20, it was like a break through and I believe something much bigger might occur. There is no better time to start buying Bitcoin than now, but instead many people believe that we will still dump further, I like how things are looking because it's described as the disbelief phase.

Having the adequate knowledge about Bitcoin would naturally make what's currently happening of no big deal, as it's history repeating itself. The current falling has been well-anticipated because Bitcoin moves in phases, and this is the bearish phase, which should linger some more.

Some individual can’t handle the risk of holding for long time, last year will never be the same as this year, no matter how it is, the price will be higher or lower than last year, and that is the nature of bitcoin, everyone was happy last year, and that gives a lot of people hope that this year will be better than last, however, we must remember that we can not predict bitcoin, we believe in bitcoin but we don’t know what the price will be in the coming days.

current market move during this current bear market doesnt stimulate me to sell at all.

And anyone who is HODL'ing since at least the start of this year, why would they now all of a
sudden decide they had enough and sell, that doesnt make sense.

All the weak hands have already sold and are watching from the side lines realising the market
