I do not know if anyone else has made a post about this, I tried searching but found none, but just incase there is any related content already shared by another user, readers please bring that to my notice or mod is free to lock this post.

On the 27th day of August, 2026, Kucoin made a new compliance rule/policy that allows the exchange to either freeze, block, reject or reverse any crypto transaction and to also restrict or terminate the account of the affected user when or if the user's transaction is found to be linked directly or indirectly to any of the platforms Kucoin has sanctioned.

What this means is that a kucoin user's fund can be frozen, blocked, rejected or reversed and the user's account may either be restricted or terminated if Kucoin finds that the funds being deposited to their exchange has any direct or indirect link with one or more of any of the 17 platforms they (the exchange) have sanctioned, it simply mean an innocent user may get penalised for something he or she knows nothing about if he or she is unlucky to be in possession of funds that was in any way, linked to any of the 17 platforms the exchange has placed on sanction.

Among the 17 sanctioned platforms are "shelbit, Aban Tether, A7 Nigeria, A7 Africa, PilotFinance, Rapira, Aifory Pro, ABCeX, WhiteBird, NoOnecrypto, Tradex, Monease, BitPapa, Exnode, Exnode Pay, EXMO and “HTX (Huobi Global SA)".

Any Kucoin user can face any of the punishments listed above if the funds the user deposited to their Kucoin account is found to have any direct or indirect link to any of the above listed platforms, so be careful using Kucoin exchange or simply avoid the exchange totally.

And i would imagine many other platforms followed those steps too. So the warning should be about avoiding those sanctioned and avoiding to deal with people you don't really know. This sound is just an another excuse to limit crypto/btc funding for EU citizens.
They have already limited the amount of coins you can trade, the platforms, the amounts, the documents, even the exchange and it seems also UTXO.
I am not a real expert on CEX but ...
They are able to see their hot/cold wallet - and trying to track back all utxo spend by them?
and how they can resume to the various input if this is large transaction?

I am not using Kucoin since 3 or 4 years ago because I do not like how the exchange is operating and the fee on the exchange is somehow higher than the standard fee on other exchanges.

But I can not avoid the exchange just because of what you said.

It started with Binance and more exchanges followed and they do not declare it.

All these exchanges are centralized.

That sounds like every more-or-less large exchange these days...

They all have the same procedure following a deposit from a "high-risk" address and what is considered "high-risk" for them can expand overnight.

Here's a tweet from the CEO of OKX published just today (it's in Chinese, but there's a translation feature on X now):

https://x.com/star_okx/status/2094980124236251207

Long story short: no CEX is safe now. The largest and most compliant ones are getting even more unsafe than shady ones, ironically.

This. Since many platforms will follow EU new policy or, avoid EU related platform lol

I'm actually using kucoin and is my one and only cex, currently using to do my crypto to fiat through their p2p.
Although i have experienced lots of bad experience on some merchants but i havent got any bad experience on the platform as a whole. So yeah, choose your cex, you can't avoid it, well, if you do, good for you.

KuCoin exchange was an alternative when Binance imposed KYC restrictions, and such restrictions will inevitably lead some users to move to another exchange or move entirely to a No KYC exchange. Therefore, I do not see anything exceptional, and inevitably, anyone who has a transaction linked to one of the platforms above will have their account restricted and may only be allowed to withdraw.

Why are they a bit late in catching up, considering news reports say they already hold a MiCA license?, whereas Binance got a head start.

and “HTX (Huobi Global SA)".
Just wait until some wacky HTX users swarm the deposit addresses linked to KuCoin (or maybe it’s already happening)(*). Hahaa

yes, I reported Binance Email Warning last few weeks. Surprisingly the restricted services mentioned here are similar to that of binance, which both exchanges are complying to the EU sanctions.

But one thing is clear, Binance was more professional in their announcement than Kucoin. While both passed the same message, Kucoin looked so harsh or was it how the Op titled and presented the case?

Meanwhile, how many exchanges are implementing this?

On the 27th day of August, 2026, Kucoin made a new compliance rule/policy that allows the exchange to either freeze, block, reject or reverse any crypto transaction and to also restrict or terminate the account of the affected user when or if the user's transaction is found to be linked directly or indirectly to any of the platforms Kucoin has sanctioned.

I also came across their recent updates regarding the platforms the have already sanctioned to receive any transaction from, but I don't know why this have to do with their own customer by placing restriction on user account, I don't know what you are trying to do on this regard but it does not really sound well when you don't even know how you got involved in any transaction that lead to some of these platforms they kicked against.

This is actually the sad part here, lots of exchange are now enforcing those sanctions what EU want to implement.

It seems that many people will get an issue, once they start implementing that actions and start to block either the withdrawals or even worst the account of their user due to AML reasons. Those bad actors is not the only at risk, because normal users could gets flagged if their system became more stricter..

So yeah if people want to avoid the current situation happening now with those exchange, better avoid those sanctioned exchange. Somehow we have no KYC swap platform available now, although there's still huge risk. But the best thing we could do is to verify if those NO KYC exchange or swap platform have great reputation and been running for many months or years.

Meanwhile, how many exchanges are implementing this?
I haven't found an exact figure, but at least three major exchanges have implemented this restriction. I believe all exchanges serving global users will follow suit. So far, my local exchanges haven't done so, though one of them is a Binance subsidiary, meaning they are automatically and indirectly affected by the parent company's policy.

What I know there are six crypto exchange implementing this more stricter AML policies, then so far OKX, Binance and Kucoin are the one confirm about those policy updates they made.

But also base on the articles I've read online, it seems that Bybit, Kraken and Coinbase already implement same policy, its just they didn't much noise the same as what Kucoin and Binance did.

Looking how fast the regulation and rules change. It seems that more exchange would provably follow them. So I guess its better for us to avoid doing transaction with the platform they flagged to avoid any potential problems.

I am one of the irregular users of Kucoin. I use that exchange for short trades, just to exchange my earnings from crypto marketing. First I receive funds in my noncustodial wallet, then exchange them from Kucoin and move the funds instantly to fresh addresses or another exchange. Because I have learned a costly lesson from Binance, after that I don’t use exchanges to receive funds from my clients. I make sure to deposit fresh funds to my regular exchanges to avoid sanctions or freezing funds.

I am not very negative about your concern. It’s better they give us prior notice, although I noticed it from your thread. Almost every exchange has its own standard for freezing funds, so Kucoin won’t be different from them. Still, I would use, like, previously used them just for small amounts and exchange them.

I use Binance and Bybit, I am not sure Bybit has implemented this. They wouldn't have implemented it in silence. There must be an announcement or an internal memo for it if implemented.

When Binance did, I got an email, so bybit should not be an exception. There's no way an exchange will implement such a policy without making a public announcement of it. The customers will simply claim ignorant of the news.
