Fake Kidnapping to Ask Parents for a Ransom because of Gambling

I hope the young person knows that raising a false alarm in most country especially when it has something to do with a hostile situation is a criminal offense and he or she might go to jail for it if it is confirmed to be false. I have seen people do a lot of crazy things to gamble but you see faking a kidnapping, I'm not sure I have ever come across such a sinistic act before. Imagine if the same person got into a real hostile situation the second time after finding out that the kidnapping was fake it would be a dangerous position for such person.
Gambling addiction can lead to a lot of things and most times people that get affected by this psychological condition stop thinking logically.

A search into this phenomenon of staged kidnappings reveals several similar cases. These incidents are often driven by debt or gambling addiction, even among children. It is shocking that they would go to such desperate lengths to obtain money. No one can only imagine the depth of their addiction or the severity of their fear regarding debt collectors. Indeed, they feel compelled to repay what they owe, leading them to resort to such extreme measures.

The issue is that this is not a trivial matter. It is criminal. Even if the situation was merely a true or a false, the law must still be enforced. As it sets a precedent for the younger generation. This is precisely why, children are prohibited from gambling. They lack the means to earn money legitimately. Making them prone to taking reckless risks to get what they desire.

I just watch this on our local news where a college student allegedly got kidnapped and the kidnappers were asking for P300,000 or around $4,700

A video was sent to the student’s parent using the alleged kidnapper’s facebook account. On the video, the student’s eyes were covered and he was crying asking for help. It was also stated by the news report that the alleged kidnapper only gave them 2 hours to give them the ransom money so his parents immediately asked the police help. Fortunately the police were able to locate him immediately in a hotel alone. After the police tracked the cctv, they found out that the student went to the hotel alone and there was no kidnapping that happened. Before the student went to the hotel, his last stop was a billiard place. When the police confronted the victim, he revealed that he only did that to ask for money because he got drowned in debt on online lending apps because of gambling. Because of what he did, he got arrested because the police used their time and put effort to finding them but it’s just all fake.

It really fascinates me how can a person do such thing to an extent just because of gambling. He not only wasted the time and effort of the police, but he also lied to his parents big time. He is still young and still has a long future ahead of him yet he is already in such situation. For the parents, it’s so hard to accept how can your child do that to you for money.

We see this kind of incident mostly among the youth. Young boys and girls can easily become addicted to gambling and if their father or mother does not keep an eye on them and if they give their son or daughter a lot of money to spend all the time. Whenever a person gets involved in debt and when a person gets addicted to gambling then they can do anything for the money to play gambling.

I would say that every parent needs to keep a close eye on their children. For example, whenever a boy or girl gets addicted to something then some changes are seen in them and if these changes are caught immediately then there is a chance of turning their addiction away and saving them from facing such activities.

If this kid got access to loan apps it means that he is not a minor and he knows that this is something that comes with consequences, I don't know about other countries but in my country he would have been detained for that. There are several reasons why taking a loan to gamble is risky, the moment you get caught up in it this becomes very difficult to stop and considering the fact that he is juat a kid makes it even more disturbing. imagine a kid thinking of such a thing all to raise money to gamble, imagine what he can do when he gets older  this is why parental guidance is very important.

You know, when any gambler borrows new money to recover loss, he is not erasing his previous loss. He is just making his future income as collateral for today's gamble. Silly reasons like this are the reason why the government in my country made kidnapping a capital offence. There is no way that he could get away with such act, self kidnapping have never worked out unless the parents are so dump not to notice the behaviour and actions of the one before the incident.

He will go to jail regardless that he shifts blame to gambling being the reason he incurred the debts in the first place.

I can imagine how selfish some children can be, faking kidnap just to pull out money from parents that has trained and gave him all he needed right from the moment he came to existence. This is a high level of selfishness and this is why people are advised to abstain from gambling if they can not control the way they gamble or go about it. Some kids are being so mean to take some decisions without even feeling bothered about the consequences of their actions, even if the kid was drawing in debt, the best thing to do is open up to his parents and they can help him heal from gambling addiction which is already the case here, if he was not addicted to gambling, he won't have been taking loan from loan apps to continue gambling and if he was not also addicted, he won't have come up with this kind of plan.  The one that has happened several times in my country is that some university students use their school fee to gambling, one of my course mate did same and his parents almost took the decision of stopping him from continuing his education but after so much plea from people, they consider to forgive him, that was how the guy respected himself and stopped gambling till date.

Some of this kids needs to be disciplined to prevent them from going too extreme to do this kind of thing. There are some parents that will hear this kind of news about their kids being kidnapped and they will just collapse because of fear and panic, especially when the parents don't even have a quality sources of income to raise for random.

This event must make us reflect more and more on the kids who unknowingly approach gambling.
Never ever would I ask anyone for money, not even on loan, I didn't even do it when I was in a dark period (I didn't gamble).

College student? isn't He old enough to know the risks of gambling? His actions already include offenses or criminal. He is already an adult and knowingly committed fraud. I don't think there's anything to defend him for.gambling addiction is a risk. But with this case should be a warning to the government to be more assertive in combating gambling. Stories like this is becoming common, this shows the level of increase in gambling addiction mostly the young ones. I thought gambling site already provided an age restriction but, it turns out gamblers in general who can’t control their emotions find it difficult to escape gambling addiction.
