Why I'm watching ETH right now (but not buying yet)

ETH is starting to catch my eye but I'm still not buying it. The chart did get interesting though. ETH/BTC bounced about 27-32% off the June lows around 0.027 and pushed to a 7-month high near 0.0334.

Then I saw the ETF flow data. $189M came in on Aug 19, which is the biggest single-day inflow since Oct 2025. That's real buying pressure. I’ve also got Glamsterdam ahead and honestly I don't think that's fully priced in yet.

So yeah, the rotation might be starting. But I'm not forcing it.

I need ETH/BTC to hold above 0.0320 for two daily closes, BTC dominance to close below 57.0%, and rotation to actually shift from suspected to developing. Right now we are sitting at 0.0311 and 57.6% so it's close, but not there.

Once those three things line up I'll recalc the live price. Right now my map is roughly $2,520 entry, $2,268 stop, targets at $3,150 and $4,032. Alerts are set. I'd rather miss the first few percent than jump the gun before confirmation.

If Iran escalates or we get a surprise Fed hike I'm pausing this entirely. Bias is bullish, timing is just off. Just my own process, not financial advice.

No worries if it's a financial advice either because you made a rational analysis considering some possible factors. And as we are talking about eth, which is a major crypto in the market, your opinion doesn't fit in manipulating the market for a limited personal benefit. The expanding growth in ETF investment for eth is an important indicator about how much the investing community believe in the feasibility of eth as a real project with concrete use cases, not only as an investment mean.

Respect for watching it with btc pair. I haven't done that for ages, and now when i did, chart looks promising. I am skeptical about TA, or my skills with it, but long time frame eth/btc chart looks really good. I am thinking it could drag many other coins with it if it really starts to move.

I honestly am not even interested about predicting real world events and how they would affect the price, because i am going to watching wrong things, or i am late or wrong about the effects. Charts might even rise during depression etc...

You're thinking about many things, and your investment will often be based on emotions (even though you've reviewed many indicators). The price of Ethereum is primarily linked to Bitcoin, so if the price of Bitcoin rises, it's a good opportunity to buy Ethereum, especially when there's technological development.

Its not really a mistake to buy ETH, but for me I'd rather choose to deal with it doing short term. Rather think about doing DCA with this coin. Since I think the perfect coin to choose if we talk about DCA is Bitcoin only.

Price of those coins moves depends on what is the current situation happening on Bitcoin.

I don't think its good to buy when price of those coin start to raise or even already experiencing a big pump. Because doing that they might get caught by FOMO and lose their money.

So best to buy while the price is currently cheap or the market is experiencing a bear cycle. Because once market recovers there's more better chance that they can possibly earn on ETH once price starts to pump and recovers.

It’s true a few days back Ethereum outperformed Bitcoin; hence, it’s in a good position right now. Good to see Ethereum drew your attention; it’s one of the strong altcoins. We know Bitcoin is the mother coin of cryptocurrency. But I think Ethereum is the mother coin of altcoins.

However, I don’t know why you haven’t been buying; it was dipping hard a few months back. It was a great chance to accumulate during that time. I have been holding Ethereum, expecting something good in the near future. I have a big target to sell my Ethereum. You may proceed to accumulate through the DCA strategy.

Perhaps op is a crypto trader and not everyone will be a holder or investor in terms of waiting for profit, some people trade their way up.

But however op is watching a pair that seem promising, it could go side ways since trump and his crew are messing around with the weapons in their hands. Firstly it’s quite okay to buy at the entry point of 2300$ and above but could be a terrible trade if you start at anything below 2300$ because price might make a turn which will be unexpected.

I have few ETH and I am not even updated about this glamsterdam upgrade. Now that you have said that, it's got a good upgrade in some technical aspects.

Increasing the limit of gas fee so that it can accommodate more transactions.

But the more interesting part is on how this is on how it will make the price soon.

Why are you delaying when the overall price of crypto is at the bear market now, you don't need to be sentimental when dealing with crypto, you gotta look in the eyes of Ethereum market and make your decision.
You don't have to also overthink when trying to gather some quantity of Ethereum needed for you, since you are in Altcoin board, it's better you grab now and wait for the output in the next year.

Best time to buy was $1800, Bitmine played a big part in convincing me to buy ETH and it was severely undervalued and even if it will go down it won't be going down that far. I regretted not buying more .

For this time around, if I were to increase my ETH holding, I'd wait for a potential pullback, if it goes down, I'll buy again. Although ETH didn't surpass its all time high, but simply buying at low and hold until it comes near all time high is easy 3x of the investment and it won't easily lost its TVL and traffics. Buying ETH at low feels good.

I personally don't waste much time on large shitcoins that are also old because major pumps in such altcoins is a lot more difficult and time consuming in comparison to smaller and newer shitcoins that have not been majorly pumped yet.

With that said, ETH can still be pumped and dumped and if we can detect such pumps early and get on board to make a quick profit before the dump starts, that can be a profitable trade. But only small profit and the risk is still there as well since it is still a pump and dump.

That's unrelated. The terrorist attacks the US regime started in West Asia this year and Iranian retaliation on regime's terrorist bases is only affecting the economy and with a delay it affects the market. That is not an immediate effect and it definitely not affecting pump and dump shitcoins.

Take the past week for example. After the US regime carried out another terrorist attack (bombing a wedding in Iran), the Armed Forces of Iran started a series of devastating retaliatory strikes that included hitting American terrorist bases with hundreds of ballistic missiles, hitting multiple US navy ships including an aircraft carrier as multiple destroyers (eg. DDG-119 and DDG-53), flattening a dozen US Army bases eliminating hundreds of American terrorists and last but not least seizing a US Navy submarine (happened yesterday).
None of it affecting the shitcoin market though.

Alternatively, in my opinion I would suggest the OP should take much of his time and stay patient before just jumping into the flow since his entry is base on a short term goal which we can also considered as trading. If the Op was sticking on a long term holding of ethereum then it will be best to suggest to him your opinion of not overthinking and just buy at any price since the goal is long term.
 Apparently if the op grab now without waiting for his plans and sticking to it then if ethereum movement shift it directions then it might end up affecting him, my opinion is to just wait for the perfect opportunity before entering., rushing in trading isn’t a responsible acts.

If your goal is just to get a 2x or 3x return in the next cycle, I think BTC is a better choice than ETH. It has the potential to do that too and its even safer.

I know ETH could outperform BTC, but that would also come with greater risks. But if all you want is a 2x or 3x, I dont think taking on the additional risk of investing in ETH is really necessary.

On the other hand, if your target is higher and you are willing to accept more risk, ETH would be a better choice than Bitcoin.

There is a mixed feedback on ETH. Some says it is like that (a shit coin) but some just consider it as a queen of the altcoins. So the up and down of its value can be considered as a normal volatility, or it can as well be a manipulation. But one thing is for sure, and that is ETH is less risky. If you missed the train, you can just wait and for sure the train just comes back on the station again. Hence, a small profit is normal and justifiable.

For me, my views on ETH is only neutral but there is also a thread last time which states that an expert is also buying or prioritizing ETH for a while, even though that expert is bullish too on Bitcoin. So to OP, when will you start acting? When it is already too late?

OP may have lost the potential of buying Ethereum at the least possible price. This cryptocurrency also moves just like Bitcoin does. And from the charts, it doesn’t looks like Bitcoin will drop that low again to enable ethereum hit a low price to get him the chance to buy at that price.

Hope it is not Ethereum you’re referring to as shitcoin? There are many several coins in that category that Ethereum is not even close to been called one. People that invest in Ethereum also have a very big believe in the cryptocurrency just like they have same believe for Bitcoin. I won’t call or refer to Ethereum as Bitcoin, that’s looking down much on the coin even though it has a very good potential for the future.

Yep, that's true, bitcoin is better choice and even outperforms ethereum on the most recent bullish season and even safer because bitcoin is bigger than ethereum but ethereum at times can be very undervalued, $1800 was like half of 2022 all time high which to me sounds like a good coin to invest in my portfolio and I can also stake it to get yield.

I think the yield is the main reason I invested to ethereum, I can earn small profit while waiting for the market to get better. If my biggest purpose was to get maximum ROI from a safe asset that have lower risk, I'd definitely choose bitcoin over ethereum but I'm still waiting for the right time to buy bitcoin, I was too late on bitcoin thinking the price might even go deeper but it doesn't.
