I partly agree. Altcoin market is way too crowded now, and that spreads liquidity thin. So it's getting harder to find alts doing 100x to 500x like before. But those opportunities haven't gone extinct, and I'd say 10x or even 30x is still very much on the table.

Just look at the last bullrun. Ether and Bnb underperformed badly. But SOL went from $8 to $300, roughly 30x. INJ went from $1 to $50, so 50x. Plenty of meme coin like PEPE, MOODENG and GOAT pumped many times over too.

So saying altcoin ss or alt can no longer deliver huge return isn't entirely accurate.

There is too much fragmentation of liquidity across multiple chains and coins, this is why a coin will do 5x in a month and dump in one day. I think we first need to remove meme coins, the liquidity that are wasted on Solana chains will do a very wonder to the altcoins markets. If the way people are busy chasing the next meme coins that will yield profits is what they are doing on top altcoins, there will be a force bull run without any hindrance, even the so called market manipulations wouldn't win the fight.

Things might change, the altcoins market can't be this way for long time. By the time they see Bitcoin trading at ₦200k and Eth is trading below $3k, they will come back, force the market to move. I believe without bull run on altcoins, I don't think even the exchanges are going to be profitable. No liquidity grab, no trading fees will be maid, it will come for sure.

What you are missing in your examples is that the coins you named were mostly new and un-pumped at the time they got massively pumped. Therefore the reason why they are not getting massively re-pumped today is that they are already over-pumped.

But that doesn't mean the huge pumps (100x-500x) don't happen or are hard to find. The "new" and "unpumped" shitcoins are still being massively pumped. You can see them in the "Top Gainers" section of sites that list them every day. Like this: https://www.coingecko.com/en/crypto-gainers-losers
The top of the list is a shitcoin called LOBO-something and it has gotten pumped more than 1800% in the past 24 hours. Tomorrow it will be some other shitcoin.

Tbh, this type of random altcoins doing 100x to 500x that you meant have been existing for the longest. The problem is that most are not real pump. Some of the tokens on their lists that do 1000x and goto millions of dollars worth of FDV/mcap will lose all that value if several thousands of the tokens are sold due to the thin liquidity they usually have, and that's why I don't trust them.

The 100x to 500x I meant in my example is the ones about popular tokens/projects we know about like ETH, Zcash, SOL and even Bitcoin.

I think that the glory days of altcoins are gone although nothing is impossible and we might see the return of the era of massive pumps that can sustain before they would eventually die or stop reaching ATH, except perhaps for top altcoins like Ethereum, BNB and Solana. For now what I can say is that any investors that are buying altcoins should be very cautious not to get carried away by project hypes to commit enormous funds more than they can afford to lose because many altcoins don't have what it takes to survive, they are mostly scams.

I agree that altcoins market is overcrowded now but still we can pick out potential coins like Ethereum, but since it didn't meet it's investors expectations in the last Bitcoin bull run which didn't last I think that it is better to hold and wait for it to become bullish and hopefully reach ATH.

But looking at things now. The movement is far better than those days when it was stagnant. Op you can invest now because the time when bitcoin will hit $100+k Ethereum will also rise to a good rate and you gain something. But be wise.
I'm good at avoiding stress, any crypto that is not Bitcoin puts me under stress. Understanding altcoins, mostly the new ones, is very difficult to say, investing in any top altcoin is understanding that most of them are richly correlated with Bitcoin, top altcoins can also get new ATH from Bitcoin ATH, the same can also happen to most new altcoins, buying Bitcoin eases the stress, instead of ETH or any top altcoins.

Financial advisors recommend against investing in the cryptocurrency market if you experience stress when asset prices fall.

You should personally select investment options that align with your tolerance for stress. This market remains highly risky, but it also offers the potential for significant returns.

Everything comes at a price. Stick with Bitcoin and you will have less stress and a safer ride, but you might miss out on the outsized gains alts can deliver. Go the other way and altcoin can be more stressful to hold but upside can be bigger too.

So which one to pick depend on your risk appetite, your goals and how much stress you can stomach. We are all different. So pick the assets that suit you and the level of risk you're comfortable taking.

All the coins are stressful, Bitcoin is stressful too but it has a way it rewards you for your patience. There are people that bought Ethereum at $2500 for the last 4 years and they stuck with what they bought, till now they are not in profit. No matter how patience you are with investment and you are looking at it for long term, you will be tired. If the investment was in Bitcoin, you will be enjoying the benefits of your investment instead of this headache.

Nobody knows tomorrow and we can't say what Eth will looks like but this price will not remain here forever. If Bitcoin continues to pump, Eth will be break free especially now that institutional investors are diverting their investments there.
