No one has control of the game and we shouldn't be too emotional to think we do because there's something we usually do to make us feel comfortable in our skin when watching the games. Obviously, all of that has nothing to do with how the results will turn into.

And it's important to make this print again that, superstition doesn't work or influence sports outcome. That you have done something and it worked in line with how a game's result became could have being just a coincidence. And it's not unusual for coincidence to happen twice but some people like tagging this to lucky charms or something when it's about sports events results.

Lucky charm? Sounds like something that a bettor that does not understand what the game is all about would say. Superstitions don't work when you are dealing with a game of uncertainty, the only thing you can do when a bet is on the line is to hope that you are going to win, otherwise there's no such thing as a ritual or lucky charm. Mind you, not every gambler does this because some are Mature enough to know that it is called the illusion of control and it is not real, Even when you do those things and end up winning it is not really because you used a charm, it's all because you got lucky.

In reality, these kind of superstition create sense of control for fan, yeah. If i talk about myself, these also significantly reduce my match related stress. Of course, while ritual certainly alter our feeling or mood. But our action don't actually change match's result in any way.

I’m not betting on football but I have some ritual when betting on basketball like wearing my cup with the team logo stitched on it like the regular fan watching on the stadium.

I do this whenever I’m watching a match during weekends especially if the match is playoffs and my team is against tough competitors on the league.

However, I don’t have time to watch sports anymore since I’m busy lately on my business operations.

Not every football fan has a superstition, you aren't exactly right on that, not every player would be delusional enough to believe that they control the games that they bet on. There are bettors that are convinced that their good luck charm or whatever it is they do actually works but to people that understands the principles of gambling that's just mental or psychological immaturity. Believing that doing a particular thing controls what happens in a game is totally crazy.

In some cases gamblers that do this says it helps them calm or distract their mind whenever they start getting to anxious especially when they are about to lose or win a huge amount. Always be reminded of the fact that you don't have any sort of control over the game, if you feel anxiety it means that you are either staking excessively or you should probably stop gambling.

At first, I didn't understand why they suddenly changed appearance on some days, when they usually always look perfectly shaved. And yes, as it turned out, this is a superstition they try to follow when they're placing bets or simply when placing bets or just rooting for their favorite team. It’s pretty funny, but if this superstition works, then I'm all for it.

Well I can't dismiss your idea because most bettors are actually lucky at times but still, that luck doesn't apply to everyone. It's easy to say it's highly unpredictable to certainly determine who would win in a match still, most folks just place their bets on their favorite player one they believe has the skill. But apart from that the crazy part of this superstition is that if you put on whatsoever you think is your lucky charm and at the end of the game your team lost, you wouldn't say that it didn't work. Most folks just end up giving silly excuses, but assume you guys won you will say it was your lucky charm. Funny how most bettors like to bend reality just to give their selves the momentum to keep gambling. It's a good thing but it's also a bad thing depending on how obsessed you are to such ideas and logic. That's all.....

Not a ritual but I try to take my mind off a bet I make as much as possible even if I am watching the game. They say a watched pot never boils so maybe not watching your bets can help them be successful. When I pick multiple options on a ticket I don't recheck and may times forget what my picks were, only checking at the end of the games.

I know it's all nonsense but it keeps the gambling fun.

Why do you say every football fans when that's not true? Personally, I don't have such kind of superstitious beliefs about betting on sports games, I treat every game the same way because regardless of any believe I have for that game, what's bound to happen is still what will happen. Do you think any of these personal beliefs can change the outcome of a game? As funny and ridiculous this may seem a lot of people actually believe that doing all these can actually affect or control the outcome of the game but that's not really the case. I also know people that have this crazy superstitious believe of wearing a particular colour of shirt whenever they hope to win a huge bet but these are all psychological traps. Think about it, if superposition really works then why aren't people rich off gambling yet, a lot of people would have made millions of dollars by now.

A lot of people just want to believe that doing all of these works, I see it as an act of desperation to win and like I mentioned is initially it is  a trap that makes so many bettors stuck in the game hoping they win at some point.

To be frank, this is the first time I'm hearing this kind of superstitious belief to control the outcome of a football game, so some people strongly believe in this kind of practice to influence a game? this wouldn't work.

For example, millions of gamblers predicted a football match with different predictions, a particular gamblers try to perform a ritual practice to influence the game to go it's way, what about other gamblers who also go into ritual to influence the same game to go it's way, who gonna have more power?

It was weird seeing my uncle bet on games given to him in the dream. Others I have seen have the same mentality of not checking the bet until the match is over, or they don't share the code with anyone.

Lucky charm you means, do anyone has control over undecided bet, of course there's no single person with such power, so I see such character attributed to someone that has little understanding about gambling, to start with, is it even advuceable for someone to put unnecessary tension in himself, any gambler that does this, might not be gambling the right way, the only thing that can make a gambler to be this mean, is when he didn't gamble with what he should gamble with, is this not a drama, I prefer being cool, when watching a match that i gambled on, since I know that what I think and how I act doesn't change anything.

Lucky charm? I don't have one, if anyone has lucky charm they will be going into casino every week and leave with alot of money, gambling doesn't work that way.

All I count on is getting lucky, and since luck isn't something that I can tied down with me it means I won't always have my ways, if you want to make money all the time it's better to have a skill or something better paying job.

I just do gambling when I want and it's not about me hitting some jackpot, you will get lost easily if you have this type of mindset,  that one day you will win, I'd rather have some good time only when and if I feel like gambling.

I honestly don't know what you mean by every football fan, are you trying to generalise this or speak only for yourself? I don't really believe in superstitions especially when it comes to gambling, because it is either you win or lose, there are no ways around it. For bettors or football fans that depend only on lucky charms does this mean that they don't analyze their bets and just pick options randomly because they believe that they can control the game? if we are going to be logical and realistic we all know that such things don't really exist.

I got rid of them mostly, but back in my 20s I had a lot of such superstitious beliefs, which included wearing my lucky black clothes and driving on the same road, sometimes I even count the step when I walk which made me feel lucky when I am winning, stupid but it happens.

My lucky charm is actually not watching the game so I don’t get nervous. I’ve experienced many times that whenever I watch, my bet ends up losing, and I’m just being honest with myself about that. Another problem is I get carried away by emotions when I see my team losing. If there’s a live betting line, I get tempted to chase, thinking I can reduce my loss or maybe win something back, but most of the time it doesn’t end well.

So for me, it’s better not to watch and just check the score later. ( i win that way)

I have never been this weird when I watch a game. Although I do know some friends who like wearing their jerseys whenever their favorite team is going to the Finals or even just the playoffs. I don't really find it helpful for their team, but if that helps them enjoy the games, then why not?

Others find it a traditional thing, and I think they are what we call the hardcore fans of one team. Heck, even if it is just a season game, they will wear those jerseys. Even if it's just watching it through PPV or on cable.

If I'm not mistaken, there was once a discussion about lucky days for gambling. I think it's the same as every gambler's belief that makes them feel luckier when gambling. I personally don't have such a belief. I will just play and bet as I like. There is no lucky day or specific ritual before playing. If I win, it's luck; if I lose, I just consider it bad luck.
