Thanks, this is exactly the kind of feedback we want.
On liquidity: you're right, there are no active offers yet. We just launched, so we're at the classic cold-start point every P2P market starts from. It's the honest chicken-and-egg problem: buyers want offers to be there, sellers want buyers to be there. We'd rather be upfront about that than fake volume. If you or anyone reading this wants to post offers as an early seller, that genuinely helps bootstrap it, and we're happy to help you get set up.
On "bring your own wallet" and how the multisig works: your instinct is the common assumption, but it's actually the other way around, and that's the whole point of the design.
There is no deposit to us. You never send your coins to an address we control. Instead:
- When a trade opens, the buyer, the seller, and XMR Local each generate a key and exchange the public multisig info between the three wallets. Out of that, a fresh 2-of-3 multisig address is created. This happens first, before any money moves.
- Only then does the seller fund that multisig address directly from their own wallet. The coins go straight into the shared escrow, never into a wallet we hold.
- To release, two of the three keys sign. Normally that's the buyer and seller. We hold one key only, so we can help settle a dispute but can never move the coins alone, and we can't touch them if we wanted to.
- That's why you bring your own multisig-capable wallet (monero-wallet-cli works today). Your private keys never leave your device. A deposit-then-escrow model would mean we custody your funds at some point, and we specifically didn't want that.
Happy to go deeper on any part of it. And keep the suggestions coming, this is useful.
I recall that LocalCryptos offered a similar service I used them, and the biggest issue was waiting for liquidity to become available.
I don't see any active offers on your platform.
Bring your own wallet
Use your own multisig-capable Monero wallet (monero-wallet-cli). Your keys never leave your device - we never hold your coins.
How does that work? I thought the user would make a deposit, and then the multi-signature wallet could be created.
