Hello, I received my Apollo III last week and I have been trying to get the miner to work and connect it to my Sparrow wallet.

When I unboxed the Apollo III I noticed that one of the perforated tabs was not connected as if it had been opened.

I went to the Future Bit website and followed the instructions for flashing my OS. I now have 2.1.3.

I started up the Apollo III and noted that the Node started to download as expected but the Miner just kept cycling on for about 2 minutes then off and then on for 2 minutes and constantly repeated this. The fan would ramp up to full and then go back to quiet. There was no hash rate reported. So I turned off the Miner and waited about 48 hours for the Node to finish verification and fully sync. Once the Node was finished I tried to connect the Apollo III to my Sparrow wallet but when I enter the User and Pass it returns that it failed the connection.

So, at this point I am not sure how to connect Sparrow and the instructions are useless from the Future Bit website.

Please help.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Are you doing eth cable or wifi.?

Number one: did the Node fully load and synch.

Number two:  did you pick solo mining?

Number three do you have a valid btc addy that the Sparrow wallet gave you.

and the instructions say do not turn off the miner when you synch the node.

The tamper tabs in the first batch aren't up to the task when shipping so no need to worry about that. Have you let the node sync before trying to do anything else like mining on it?

Thank you for your reply. I have used both ethernet and wifi to interface with the Apollo III. The Miner would automatically start but never hash, and then after a minute or two, it would stop and restart on its own. The Node began to do its syncing and downloading just fine. I turned off the miner manually and allowed the Node to fully load and synch. It was about 48 hours. I did this over ethernet for the most reliable connection. Once the Node was fully downloaded and synched I tried to turn on the Miner again but it continues to cycle a restart on the Miner. The Node continues to function fine.

I only have picked pool mining, however, because I cannot connect Sparrow to the Apollo 3 for some reason, I do not have an address to give to Apollo 3 to distribute payouts. Is that the issue? Then how do I connect Sparrow?

If I select solo mining, it appears I also need an address, but since I can't seem to connect Sparrow, I cannot give Apollo 3 an address.

I do have a valid address from Sparrow, but that isn't the issue: I cannot figure out how to connect Sparrow to the Apollo 3 Node in the first place.

I only turned off the Miner because it continued to cycle itself turning off and on and never hashing.

I have since turned off the entire Apollo 3 because I cannot connect Sparrow to it.

Thank you for that information. It didn't appear there was any physical damage.

I did let the Node synch and download 100% over ethernet. It took about 48 hours.

I then started the Miner, but it still did not hash and cycled on and off continuously.

I also cannot connect Sparrow to the Node to use the Node for transactions and while Sparrow can give me a valid address, I cannot connect to the Apollo 3 for it to use.

Sounds like my first one it needed to be returned.

But I am confused.

About your settings.

So here goes.

What is one of your sparrow wallets btc addresses.

You should be able to generate a list  of them

Say

bc1q7ss6pzz********************7zhps6l2esm

You need to set solo mine tab

Them put in an address from your sparrow wallet

Thank you again.

I think I will need to make a video because it is hard to explain. When I go to connect to the Apollo 3 node, I go into the Sparrow Server Settings and select Bitcoin Core and enter the IP address of the Apollo 3 and select User/Pass and enter those credentials. When I hit Test Connection it returns a failed to connect. Doing a google search it tells me this is because the Apollo 3 has a User and Password ID. Ok... well, I entered those. But it still fails. Google search (AI) runs me around in a circle which ends up getting me nowhere.

Anyway, I haven't even got to the point where I need an address to send any reward coin too because I cannot connect Sparrow to the Apollo 3.

And this appears to be a separate issue from the Miner not functioning. Again, the Miner just cycles through on and stopping every 2 to 3 minutes and never hashes. So I have manually turned it off until I atleast get the Node connection sorted.

I'll see if I can figure out how to make a video of all this to make it easier to understand where I am in the process. But I have a fiat day job that I need at the moment to pay back my Apollo 3 cost Wink

Basically, (assuming the Apollo 3 does NOT have anything wrong with it) I need step by step instructions on how to connect the Apollo 3 to Sparrow Wallet. The Future Bit Getting Started instructions on their web page are a joke. Those just tell me how to boot the Apollo 3 and then it tells me to follow the "onscreen instructions", but there were never any "onscreen instructions".

Thanks for trying to help. I'll try to do a video.

By the way, I tried to contact Future Bit, but they have not returned my email inquiry. How long do they usually take?

if you close this thread and post on the official thread it should work.

also I still do not understand what you are trying to do.

are you looking to not solo mine?

right now my Apollo III miners at viabtc.io

I do not solo mine it.

Connecting sparrow to your node is for using your own node to download transaction history etc, you dont connect sparrow to "give you a valid address" for solo mining.

You just would generate a receive address in sparrow and then copy/paste this into the Apollo UI for solo mining.

As for your miner issue have you reached out to support? We would need to run diagnostic tests on your unit to see whats wrong/open an RMA for it if something is wrong. Just reply to your order email for direct support.

I know it's hard to articulate what I'm trying to do.

Basically, I want to connect Sparrow to the Apollo 3 to use the Node.

I would like to mine since I got the full Miner/Node version of the Apollo 3.

The Miner doesn't seem to function right: cycles through starts and restarts without ever hashing.

I do not know how to connect Sparrow to the Apollo 3 to use the Node.
