There are Al ot of things that can go wrong when your data is leaked which I believe that casinos know this. Just like the first poster said, it can lead to phishing link or social engineering scam. This is one of the reason why I'm not really putting my full assurance on these casinos or exchanges or any service that do ask for KYC because our data aren't 100% save.

I know a story where someone's personal data, which had been sold, was used for theft on a carding forum. A package was delivered to the address, the purchased address , and to the person's data. Although it was a drop that picked it up, the person whose address was listed on the package was later accused of theft. Yes, our data is everywhere, but we ourselves are responsible for filtering ,,and filtering carefully, the places where we provide our documents. Driver's licenses may seem insignificant, but where they can be used to provide certain services, there will inevitably be those who want to exploit someone else's data.

When your KYC data is hacked by someone from a certain platform, you may not lose anything other than personal data. But the lost personal data could potentially cause problems for you. Your email, home address, and phone number could become targets for groups of scammers. Or your data might be sold to other platforms for promotional purposes, such as calls or emails from strangers offering products or other things. It's not a financial loss, but if the number of people contacting you is quite large, it can be very disturbing.

You are right, you may not face financial lose but you may actually face a more mental issue, something happened to me some years back, I don’t know how scammers got my number and gave it to other scammers that was calling me regularly for one thing or the other, they disturbed me until I had to change my phone number.
When that was happening I was really mentally drained and till date I still don’t know how come they got my phone number however, I think they got it from online casino or from something I did online that I put my phone number. After that incident any online stuff that requires me to put my phone number I don’t do it.

Someone else can use your data to register in other platforms using it for illicit activities and if he gets caught, it will be traced back to you and that will land you in a big problem.

We hope that our data is in save hands for our own safety. Wrench attack is also possible.

This is mostly impossible except that there is an insider work, only those within the technical team that has access to some information about users on the casino will decided to take some things to their hands, honestly anyone that wanted to prevent himself from all this challenges will definitely avoid the use of a kyc casino and that subsides the whole problem because they wouldn't have your information not to talk about tampering with it

Share your thoughts - what real risks and SCENARIOS for their occurrence do you see in KYC? I’m specifically interested in the SCENARIO of what might happen and, in your opinion, how it would unfold step by step. Perhaps by analyzing these scenarios, we can find some solutions?
My colleague was scammed when someone sent his brother's driver's licence, claiming that he had an accident and needed urgent medical assistance. The licence was gotten from a centralised platform where his brother passed KYC. Seeing the licence, his brother felt it was real since his brother's phone number was out of reach. So these KYC details can be used to scam friends and family members.

KYC risk is limited; your documents for KYC verification are not that important documents in the hands of hackers because, most of the time, some documents require facial recognition before they can be used.

When hacker's get access to KYC data, what they do is to send phishing link to the players using they KYC data like email and the rest and once it get through the gambler, he may get hacked from there, but the issues of identity theft to commit crimes have made gambling sites to lower their KYC demand documents to flexible details, that is the reason some don't request you to submit your identity documents electronically.

Suppose I verified at any casino with my passport or ID and selfie, address, phone/email, bank details, etc. Unfortunately, if that casino itself or its KYC vendor's database is breached, then attacker can use this data to open gambling account in my name somewhere else. Also they can take over my existing account. In many cases, they can present themselves as me in another verification process by phishing. But I don't think any direct loan can be taken through this.

There are two extremes when it comes to discussing KYC. There are some who describe KYC as a complete disaster and others who consider it completely safe. However, my personal opinion is somewhere in between.

For example,
As you said, you cannot use your driving license or ID card to withdraw cash from your bank account or to seize your property. But these days, identity can be challenged on the basis of just one document. The problem is, when they combine this information from different sources, they can use social engineering to deceive people.

But here’s my question: it seems to me that the information on your driver’s license, for example, wouldn’t allow someone to take out a loan in your name, open a bank account, sell your real estate, or withdraw money from your bank card.

Yes i agree with you with those type of information it is not possible to steal your money but by using some phishing link which are famous today and we see many victims of it recently so may be with this there are chances to withdraw money from your bank accounts. Also few years ago there is an app in our country called OLX where you can sell or buy products a guy contacted my friend he needs a phone a guy told him he has that phone which he needed also in good price he send photos and videos of it as well but he is from another city that is why he will deliver it through courier he ask him send me some cash in advance so i can confirm your order and some when u receive your parcel  my friend ask for a proof he send the National id card and my friend send him advance cash and that guy disappeared when he investigated the person whose ID card was used he found out that the person had actually died few years ago and someone was using his ID card for scams. So that is why there are a lot of chances of the scam by using your own personal information.

Enabling KYC verification in your gambling account can be risky sometimes, and it can also be protective to gamblers also, and what do I mean. When a gambling platform or casino platform deem it necessary for their customers to enable kyc, in most cases they don't do it to victimize their customers, but this procedure means to protect their own customers, because without the use of kyc, it means anybody can intrude into your gambling account. However, it is important to know that not all gambling or casino platforms are genuine, and while enrolling in kyc in any gambling platform, it is important to know the credibility of that very platform before your details are embedded, otherwise one could be scammed.

why provide such critical documents - maybe with some measure to avoid leakage?
Most of these services Roll Eyes have 0 legal basis for asking any document.
in general they are operating in a grey market and thus they know very well that in some nations/economic areas they are completely illegal/un regulated.
In that case, you stand the risk of losing critical information about yourself that should, more or less remain in your private custody. I understand why so many have forbidden to take that risk, but what else are you supposed to do? Casinos that don't ask for kyc verifications are mostly unlicensed and illegal. If something goes wrong, who do you call or sue?
Before KYC is required, regulators already have controls in place, just like with banks. We entrust them with our private information and documents, and they are required by regulation to keep those details confidential, including our financial records.
Just because they are required to keep that information confidential doesn't mean they will. They might even fall victim of a data breach like what happened to shuffle casino in 2025.

No one disagrees with completing the KYC process. Only those companies or platforms are avoided where customers do not receive much assurance. Because this can lead to their personal information being stolen and personally put at risk. Therefore, every activity of the casino should be thoroughly verified. However, licensed reputable casinos keep customers' personal information secure, in which case there will be no discomfort of fear.

For example: this does not happen in the case of crypto exchanges, but why this difference in the case of casinos? Because the majority of casinos do not come to do business, they only come to loot money and deceive customers. However, exercise caution when doing KYC.

There are so many gamblers that have been complaining about this KYC issues and how safe it can be when a casino is holding players information and it get to the hands of hackers or scammers through different means. Dropping this information with a casino is not really safe at all. Our credentials should be out of the exposure to online casinos that are not licensed in individual players country because government will not have full control how those casinos are using those data.
It is best to use a no Kyc casino for betting but most of them will still want your information making it hard for players to be fully anonymous.

I can say that because I also experienced it. I also suspect that my phone number was leaked because of one of the fiat slot sites I used to play on. I learned about that slot site from a friend who also experienced the same and quite frequent phone offers. They offer online loans without collateral through an app. It's like a good combination of gambling and online loans. I don't think it's a coincidence that the data was leaked due to hacking.

I am a little scared but I have not entered the working life yet so hackers will not be able to do anything with my personal information. However when I did not get my National ID card I used my father's National ID card to do KYC so I was very scared at that time.
However, if you do KYC with personal information on trusted casinos and gambling sites, you are less scared because they take the personal security of users very seriously. But if you do KYC with personal documents on those casinos and gambling sites that are not popular, there is definitely a risk.

OP, all you described is like saying there is really no dangers available big your data got leaked, because if criminals can't use your driver's licence to take loans and get access to your bank account what then?

I want to know the real danger of my data license getting seen by a stranger, because I can't tell how many times I've seen someone's lost ID on the ground and it's 100% useless to me.

I'm wondering what your anonymity that this will break, IDs aren't even caughting it anymore, you pass any verification nowadays you need more than just ID, yes the ID is the starting point but video verification is the most important.

The topic of the dangers or inappropriateness of the KYC procedure in the gaming sector has been raised here many times.
At least gamblers choose online gambling platforms that are licensed and official, when they ask for KYC verification there is legal protection for user data.
Even though we know the online world, there is no guarantee against user and system data being leaked to online casino services from phishing, hackers and so on from acts of KYC identity data theft, but licensed casinos have agreements to permanently protect the security of user data from being widely leaked.

It's true that many people are afraid of the KYC process, afraid that data will be widely leaked and misused, but if casinos are responsible for protecting user data, of course they will make every effort to protect it, For this reason, consider using a casino that has a good reputation and is legally protected by the government, avoid casinos that are irresponsible and which often have problems, especially regarding KYC.

It depends on the kind of details. Some casinos make ID cards a requirement, and they can be a driver's license or national identity card. Additionally, for some online banks, the number on a national identity card can be used to open an account.

If a detail like this is exposed to a scammer, it is possible for the scammer to use it to open an online bank account or even create an account for a loan app. This can lead to financial loss, which is why no-KYC casinos are often the best way to prevent the leakage of users' identities.

For those who do not give much importance to identity disclosure while gambling, KYC may be easy to do but with so many KYC free casinos in the casino industry, why would people go to a casino where KYC is mandatory? I don't think there is any need for it. Why would I give my driving license information to just one person or why would I share my NID card information with someone? I don't think there is any need for it. I personally would not go to a casino site that wants to know my identity.

I agree with you that the use of a driving license or passport alone has not been enough to open a bank account or take out a loan in most countries due to the additional requirement that will be needed for verification. But the real risks with KYC which i believe is something most gamblers are trying to avoid is hacker opening bank account or taking out a loan on their behalf is the selling private information on darknet markets fuller profile, phishing attacks, in some countries real name + address + birth info is enough to do SIM swap, and we also heard the news about Bitcoiners that physically attacked due to expose private information.
