Lately, whenever I scroll around on TikTok or go through YouTube, I see so many clips regarding Lindsay Clancy, the unfortunate mother who tragically murdered her 3 kids. From the short clips that pop up on social media, it's always about new moms opening up about postpartum depression and psychosis. I think most men completely ignore the weight of the mental health issue because, generally, we don't understand it.
Whether you are already married as a man, a new dad or even someone planning to marry someday, we should take the issue seriously so we can avoid this kind of psychotic tragedy around us. We need to ask questions about the signs and warnings we need to pay attention to when our wives give birth, and how we as husbands, need to step in with emotional support to make her feel better.
Postpartum Psychosis completely turn a loving and caring mom into an unrecognizable person due to a serious mental breakdown after childbirth and contrary to what husbands might see as their wives crying or acting strange and probably assume it is just a mood swing or normal stress!! Might actually be an extreme mental crisis waiting to explode.

Mental health disorders after childbirth in women can be harnessed and controlled when the woman is outspoken. A woman who keeps her mouth closed and says nothing will hurt herself or her child. Most women who face postpartum psychosis don't speak out. Without the sign, a man won't recognize what she is going through and call for help.
Postpartum psychosis is mostly found in newly lactating mothers of their first child. This is the first experience for the man and the woman. Married men won't know a thing about childbirth.

You say "unfortunate" but it wasn't about fortune, it was about a spiritual war of good and evil.
Men of course have a more difficult time gauging feelings than women, and it is important in today's age for men to pay more attention to feelings because of all the chemicals in the environment and food supply that risk negative effects on emotion. Technology is a two-edged sword. The Amish have very little to no worry about such things because their skepticism or cynicism of technology is warranted.
Better diet, cognitive therapy, more skeptical and modeate usage of medication, and distrust of today's government will get people a far ways in addressing this international mental health disaster. Holistic health is a needed focus. Focusing on mentally healthy people both today and in history, in figuring out what they are doing differently, may help.

Fortunately, most region don't leave the burden that comes after child birth to the couples alone. Throughout the early stage of child birth to the late phase, family members always comes around to provide emotional support to the couples making it much easier for them to navigate through that phase. The wife might be the direct person that bears the brunt but the effect it has on the man is equally great. This is where maturity and an act of intentionality comes in such that the load is not left on the shoulder of a single person to the point that is tends to way him/her down.

The problem isnt just with the wife. If husband is neglectful, then what good is communication gonna do? Women can be physically and mentally vulnerable after giving birth, so a responsible husband should take the initiative instead of waiting for her to speak up. There are many causes of postpartum depression. Sometimes women don't even realize that they are having problems, so to expect her to disclose everything is quite irresponsible on your part. Giving birth is risky process, something men can never truly understand. But its ridiculous that nowadays, so many people just blame their wives or women whenever something goes wrong in a marriage. Not many people actually understand what women have to go through.

I don't really know about the term postpartum wife abandonment, but I have an instinct that I should be grateful to my wife who gave birth to my child by caring for and giving more attention at least before work demands that I return to normal activities.
What's unique is that husbands in my environment have had this habit for a long time, it's more than just a moral calling, it's also about the tradition that the husband takes on all household roles up to a few months from the first day his wife gives birth.

When a woman gives birth to a child, she needs a long rest, and she must be given rest. From the time she is unable to do everything on her own, she should be given rest, I must have made my wife feel these things thoroughly. After giving birth to a child, I kept her on rest for a few months, and at the same time, I took care of all the household responsibilities myself because I did not put any pressure on my wife until she recovered completely on her own. Starting from her treatment, I have fed her nutritious food for a long time, because the child will drink mother's breast milk, due to which the child should not have a shortage of milk, so that the wife should be fed enough nutritious food. All these things should be noticed by every husband.

Not entirely on whether the woman is outspoken or not, it's whether the man is capable of presenting a space for her to do so. Post partum Stress/Disorder is something most new mothers experience and I understand the man is also going through a lot but it's expected that he should be observant. Some women might choose to not say anything if they feel it would be too much load on the man and how can you really explain something to someone else that you've not fully understood yourself?? Some women are fortunate to know about this things maybe when they go for their check ups and doctors tell them what to expect but you'd agree with me that what they tell you to expect sometimes might outweigh the actual thing. You'd be dealing with the pain of child birth and still fight the unimaginable loneliness and depression that comes with it and so it's a crazy period and if you've not got the right people around you, you could be a danger to not just yourself but your little baby or babies.

Ignoring is a strong word, I would say they are completely unaware that postpartum depression exists and they continue to treat their wife as they used to be like more of controlling and demanding rather than giving them what they wanted. We can't completely blame the men alone, the society need to teach them about it but most people consider it as taboo subject to discuss until it hits hard.

I understand that first time mothers are the ones who are likely to experience postpartum especially after their 1-2 weeks after giving birth so when I read this woman's story I tried to ponder if it was a prolonged postpartum and she didn't get help from her first child because she has three already before that unfortunate incident happened.
Most culture and tradition has taught the new mum that taking care of a child after childbirth is her responsibility, while the man goes out for work and comes home late at night tired because back then our mother's had children on their own and there's nothing like mental disorder of any kind, most bathed themselves and the child alone and still did all the chores without any help but then it's different nowadays, as most of the women struggles all through the day and night so it can be overwhelming, that's why men need to know about postpartum psychosis.
We have some men who play a great part in taking care of their child while the wife sleeps or gets some rest after childbirth too but some don't not necessary because they don't care that's why it is important that couples should communicate and then pay attention to details and I still want to say that men should be informed that their wives can have mental disorder after childbirth, so they should always help out and make her feel better, and wives should also speak up, talk to their partner's where and when they need help.

This kind of sharp instinct you possess is what needs to be encouraged, the mentality of a grateful husband. If culture demands that a man steps up to share in domestic work, then i strongly believe it will reduce the kind of stress that triggers depression in wives. But from what I keep coming across online, the scary thing about postpartum psychosis is that it can affect even a mother in the perfect household. They said it is more like a chemical reaction in the brain and not just about tiredness or stress. So while the cultural and traditional aspect might sound fantastic, we should also make efforts to seek real medical awareness so we don't assume things.

Bringing this here with a very limited explanation shows you probably trying to cause a ragebate or unrest, maybe you should not only be following the case on tiktok but actually follow the case on several sources.
Starting your thread with unfortunate mother and not even acknowledging the kids that are now no more shows that you have already picked your side or do you also want us to see the kids as a ceramic or just a breakable object. Well I think taking the lives of people's should never be accepted and also mental health is a thing and anyone experiencing anything of such should speak up and seek help.

You just got this right bro. The women of this generation just want a partner to understand them without communication. A woman will be going through something that is disturbing her and she will chose to keep quiet and not communicating with her husband. Some women when they are asked by their husband what the problem is, they will reluctantly say nothing and expect the man to figure out things by himself. Honestly, this days a lot of women are just blaming men for almost everything and this got me wondering how did our mothers raised many children all by themselves. Because, in the time of our parents, our mothers are often at home taking care of the kids while the father is away looking for daily bread but they never complained about the absence of the father in taking care of the children. So what is this with the current postpartum depression about. Are we now raising weak women who can't take care of children anymore? Stories like this is just to create an unnecessary drama and debate why the man should assist the woman when she puts to bed, of course the man should help but it shouldn't become an obligation because a man is also going through some emotional problems while trying to provide for the family.

Well this issue of postpartum psychosis is rear, you can't find it in 2 out of every 10 breastfeeding mom. The case is rear and trust me I have been with first time mom in several occasions but only found out 1 case that matches this thread. The thing is that the mental stress they pass through during childbirth often changes everything about them, both physically, mentally and otherwise. But sometimes men are unaware about it because they where not educated about it. But if a man sees a change in his wife after childbirth, he needa o show love and affection and support her, atleast this will help to stabilize her mental state of health.
