ReSatoshi

Hello. ReSatoshi is an independent SHA-256d Proof-of-Work blockchain based on Bitcoin Core 31.0.

ReSatoshi is not affiliated with Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin, or the Bitcoin Core project.

The Bitcoin Core code is kept as close to upstream as practical. Beyond the changes required for an independent network, ReSatoshi adds three connected consensus rules:

  • A spendable UTXO expires 5,256,000 blocks after its creation—approximately 100 years at the 10-minute target interval.
  • Its value is credited to the Recycle Pool.
  • Miners may claim up to 1 additional coin per block, limited by the available pool balance.

A UTXO can still be spent normally in its expiration block. Spending it—including through a self-transfer—creates a new UTXO and restarts the expiration period from the block in which the new transaction is confirmed.

Recycle rewards redistribute previously expired value. They do not create supply beyond the scheduled base subsidy.

  Specifications

  • SHA-256d PoW · 10-minute target · ASERT (2-day half-life)
  • 50-coin base subsidy · Halving every 210,000 blocks
  • Recycle reward: maximum 1 coin per block · No halving
  • No premine or spendable genesis allocation
  • No inherited Bitcoin balances or UTXO set
  • Independent genesis and network identity · P2P port 19333
  • At the time of posting: height 0 · Block 1 not yet mined

  Maintenance

ReSatoshi intends to track upstream Bitcoin Core development. Applicable security fixes will be reviewed, adapted where necessary, tested, and incorporated while preserving ReSatoshi’s independent consensus rules.

  Software

A simple Windows application includes a full node, wallet and CPU miner. Mining begins only after synchronization and an explicit user action.

SHA-256d is not ASIC-resistant. CPU mining may become uncompetitive if more efficient mining hardware joins the network.

The Windows installer is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may display an “Unknown publisher” warning. Please verify the SHA-256 checksum published with the release.

Some inherited interface labels still display “BTC.” On this network, they refer only to native ReSatoshi coins. They are not Bitcoin and cannot be transferred through the Bitcoin network.

ReSatoshi is experimental software with no guaranteed value, liquidity, security or mining profitability. Back up your wallet securely and use the software at your own risk.

Block 1 is still waiting. Who will mine it?

CPU Miner Note

After further testing, I decided that a hotfix is not necessary.

The current Windows CPU miner may be slightly less optimized than it could be, but no functional problem has been found. You may continue mining with the current release.

The included CPU miner is intended mainly as a simple tool for testing and early mining, rather than a highly optimized production miner.

ReSatoshi uses SHA-256d and is not ASIC-resistant, so CPU mining will naturally become less competitive if specialized mining hardware joins the network.

The current release will remain unchanged for now. No action is required.

Yes, we now have a Discord server:

https://discord.gg/QyM3eHZZS

It’s still a little bare-bones at the moment, so please bear with me. I’ll gradually improve it as the community grows.

/Since the network is still very new and has only a few participants, it currently relies on a small number of bootstrap nodes:

resatoshi-seed.freeddns.org:19333
resatoshi-seed.duckdns.org:19333

Once your node makes the initial connection, it should discover and connect to other peers automatically. As the network grows, I plan to improve peer discovery by introducing proper DNS seed infrastructure
