Weird addition to this, lengthy but shortened best i could. I think this is the same person from ebay in Saudi Arabia. That coin was swept on the 2nd. Days later the swept coin was for sale with make an offer. I sent a few hundred dollar offer, not realizing ad was for 3 of them. Offer declined as I figured it would be anyhow, but then I get a reply on an earlier message I sent asking what would the carcass go for. He replied all 3 for 6500. I said thank you out of my league sorry. He says we're all in same league. I said i wish I felt that way but appreciate the sentiment nonetheless and congrats on holding. He asked if i collect them or why am I looking for one. I said collector yes but dont have any casascius. He says he'd prefer to sell to someone that likes them even if means losing few hundred, would refuse 7k from someone not knowing what theyre buying. Then asked my income (just estimate dont specify) and age. Then proceeds to tell me he got scammed into showing someone part of the holograms and lost 380k. Told him hate to read that, made my heart drop. Says was going to put into a house but maybe God has better plans, making peace with it if its God that keeps him going.. I was saying thats horrible maybe he could find someone to track the coins. He replies so what's your offer, lowball me. I said no I dont want to even do that and I hope he gets top dollar for them and his btc back somehow, asked to see if he checked if theif pulled pre forks. He says no it just happened on the 3rd the harder life gets the more humble we get and time should be spent for peace and doing something larger than us. Then says offer me 30 usd please. Won't sell to anyone else til you make that offer so il wait and decline all other offers. I said I couldnt do that, that wouldnt even cover the silver in them and I want him to get top dollar, not for me to be a cause for more loss. He says no man, this is how il feel good about this honestly. It'll be more incentive to let go to the right person and that wed both have a good story to tell with them. Briefly told him about the lot I got of stolen coins and that the victim was nice and sent me a couple back, but I dont want to be the collector of others misfortunes. He says this isnt a misfortune God brings blessings in the form of misfortunes. And he sees them as trials so please let him have his thing, maybe someday il understand the mindset and nudges me to make the offer again. I sent he accepted and sent that he'd ship DHL when he woke up congratulations and blessings to me. Told him I promise I wont sell it. He says keep 1 sell 2 thats what id do. Asked for my number for shipping, then he found it in customer details said he hasnt sold anything in awhile. Next day sends that he made a mistake it was 2 gilt and 2 brass he'd send all 4. No problem. Next day sends me update that they wouldnt ship from Saudi not DHL nor FedEx so he sent with a friend to ship from Dubai. I asked if they said why, said they didnt specify but thinks they classified as currency when he said collectable/trading cards. 5 more days pass and I ask any update? Apologized and feels bad but theyre with his friend who's figuring out shipping them from Bahrain because he was worried about traveling to Dubai with them. Im just left confused as shit all around, the ebay account is 21 years old. They guy showed the original purchase of the coins to same account. I mean parts scream scam here too but why wouldnt he just take the few hundred to begin with if thats the case? Boy was i excited for a little bit there. Ebay still hasnt even helped me with the stolen storage locker coins so thisl be fun.. I guess il hold onto hope for a few more days..
It’s all pretty strange, but I can also see some logic in his argument. Shipping from Saudi Arabia to your country can be an issue. It happened to me with a seller in Europe when I bought some peeled Casascius coins and had them shipped to the US. The coin was held by customs because, according to them, it was considered currency that hadn’t been declared properly and supposedly had value, etc.
So I can believe what he’s saying. Maybe his intentions are genuine and he really did want to sell them to you for such a ridiculously low price. Clearly, looking at the situation, it seems like he really was scammed.
That said, I still find the whole thing extremely strange.
