Is the EFCC Corrupt?

This question was prompted from the responses I got from my recent thread I just created and I think the EFCC is corrupted because despite the several financial issues surrounding a government which the EFCC is supposed to investigate but it seems they are totally mute when it comes to Funds misappropriated by the government but rather always after young and helpless citizens who are just trying to make ends meet and so I think the EFCC is  corrupt and works for the government instead of the society, so what do
You guys also think about this?

Well, there is hardly any sector that corruption has not touched in this country. I mean, we’ve seen several cases of high profile people going Scot-free so this should be given. Yahaya Bello is facing 2 cases with EFCC, he has neither been acquitted nor cleared, imagine someone facing about NGN200billion allegations still goes on to win APC primary for his state, anyways I don’t want to stray too much and there are other cases too, his is just the one I can think of right now.

The bottom line is, if you don’t have significant backing in this country and you end up in EFCC custody, you’re basically f*cked. There is just a vast difference in how quickly they tend to act with poeple they know have no backing or political influence.

The EFCC we know is not what we think. I see it as a government tool for hunting each other and at the end, the masses are made to believe that the agency is to the public interest whereas in the actual sense, there's nothing of such. I do not blame the EFCC because you can not bite the hands that feed you. EFCC is sponsored and fed by these corrupt politicians, that's why they loose their grip on the politicians and then go down to expressing their power over the poor Nigerians. Everyday we see more and more of the cases,  young boys going behind bars for offences that are far less than what an average politician commits daily.

The case of Yahaya Bello has been raising dust on the social media but still no attention is given. EFCC is not moved because it's very possible that money has changed hands already. Corruption is everywhere in Nigeria, just do your best not to be used as a scape goat.

I have seen a similar thread as the one you have just created, but let me say something immediately, Government officials aren’t held accountable for anything in Nigeria considering that you’re in Office, the EFCC is one of the most corrupt Agency you will find in Nigeria, I don’t know why they exist, and I don’t know what they’re doing in Nigeria, the EFCC is just like a tool to the Federal Government, whoever is the President of Nigeria controls the EFCC, so the EFCC isn’t fighting corruption for Nigerians, they’re fighting corruption for whoever appoints there Chairman, and let me also point out something about the Agency, the EFCC mostly focuses opposition party members for the President, just like what is happening to El Rufai today, assuming that El Rufai was in the APC do you think he would be in EFCC custody or DSS Custody, what happened to Yahaya Bello who was accused of stealing money during his time as the Governor of Kogi State, this should tell you enough how this EFCC operates, EFCC is only used to witch hunt people in opposition party, and also be chasing innocent boys for no good reasons.

This topic is not supposed to be here, politics and society would've been the best place for it.

That being said. Efcc as of today are almost useless to the society why is because they aren't doing what they are supposed to do as an independent body that was formed to combat financial crime. However, their recent performance has proven that they are against the people instead of fighting financial crime which I believe was their primary assignment. It's only in Nigeria that you'll see an independent body of government taking orders from the government in power, and on several occasions the government in power has used them against their opposition parties just to get them down which is not surposed to be so in a developed or civilized country.  As a matter of fact, efcc has lost it right from time and till tomorrow they have no real value in the eyes of a regular Nigerians, but in all I am not surprised because I wasn't expecting more not in this corrupt system of government as of today .
