Happy independents is coming very soon which is 1st day of next month.
The federal government is surprising students with 100 megabytes monthly starting from October 1.
Not 1 gigabyte but 0.1 gigabyte.
Why are the government like disgracing you people? It may be that they can increase it but I guess the government will later stop it instead.

This is laughable honestly, the government has reduced themselves to mockery because the strategy they are using to buy the minds of citizens against the upcoming 2027 elections is really outdated. How many internet page can 100MB open? There are even some times that I will have like 300 MB in my internet data and I will be finding difficult to browse because it is almost close to finish. I think the government should diverse another means of enticing and lobbying students into voting for them instead of this nonsense. Even if they start doing that, everything will end after 2027 elections.

Why is it that every time the government wants to do something to the people it will always be something that will not make any meaningful thing to them, perhaps the only thing they would do to help students is taking care of there school fees at least a year or two instead of 100 megabytes, half of the students are using Nokia touch phones that doesn't have capacity to browse, so how would they make use of those 100 megabytes. Come to even think of it the 100 megabytes is very small, if you covert it to MB is not going to be upto 150MB and with this it will not last five minutes in most smartphones that consumes higher network data.

I'm not trying to say ₦100 could change their lives. I am saying it has been helpful to those who really needed it at that moment. And BTW, the cost of one Indomie then was around $80 for the small size. In today's economy, it will cost around ₦400. Not sure of the exact price, though.

This is not possible. Did you know the amount of money for a student to eat just breakfast? That is far more than probably 10 times more than ₦100. ₦100 is around $0.059 which is very small.

This is what came to my mind. Even schools have free WiFi that students can use, but they have to go to ICT for login password. That is how it was in the school that I went. If the government can collaborate with the school and make the WiFi better, it is better than 100 MB data that is not worth it.

I'm not surprised that the government want to give students 100MB starting from 1st of October because they don't see us as their priority and they know they can manipulate their way to win elections even though we don't vote for them. If it was in the days when we were using Nokia C1, X2, and xpressmusic I would have say that the 100MB will help students in one or two ways but in the era where almost all the students are using android and iOS phones 100MB is nothing it can even finish before you open one WEB page. I just sense that government want to embezzle public funds and they came up with the idea to send 100MB to students in order for people not to know they embezzled money. If it cost government 100 million Naira to send 100MB to students in Nigeria, they can say that they spent one billion Naira.

What kind of mockery is this?, does it mean the government no longer has any vision or development strategies to embark upon that will help to develop the students and prepare them for the future than proposing to share 100 megabytes on independence day, this is just a show of shame and how non- challant our leaders have become and it's very painful and disheartening to hear. If they really want to help the students they should initiate trust funds to carter for the students school fees.

This 100 megabytes even without using it will just vanish from someone's phone and that's what the federal government wants to gift students, I begin to wonder the kind of cabinet that Tinubu has because in a way they are the major problems we have, any cabinet that can't do what is right is totally bad and causes disgrace to the administration. Don't be surprised if they don't even start it at all, this is all for publicity. This government has little to no action mindset.

Even if the federal government provides the funds for these data for barely a week to school authorities to distribute to the students, you and I know for sure it has little probability of reaching them, na another choppings for the heads of the institutions.

Let's not hang much on thin hope, there is almost nothing coming to the students, this headline would still die away and they'll bring another one.

100MB still doesn’t make any sense..

I think you made mistake in the calculation or you interchanged  3GB for 30GB. 1GB is 1024 mb which is normally approx 3GB.

100mb can’t browse for 5 mins, it’s nonsense . It only make some little sense if they can at-least credit them 10GB~15GB+ monthly, and not an every day thing, this can relieve data stress on some but our service providers are also scammers .

School WiFi’s aren’t reliable in Nigeria either, it gets over crowded and service providers charge crazy amount..

I calculated it well, but I mistyped it.

If government give 3 GB, I think the students may still appreciate it, but the data will not be up to a week if it last more than a day. 3 GB is not enough, but at least they can manage it.

Some students use two stones to kill on bird at night in the school lecture theater. Reading and downloading movies. It is not reliable at all during the day, but better at night. I did not use it throughout, but I have a friend that use it. But overall, not that reliable especially during the day.

Sticky Bomb is also right, this is an opportunity for some government officials. If most students say they do not see any data, it will not be a surprise.

When I read the news I just laugh because FG is full of shameful people that doesn't have any human feelings,  they're very insensitive people,  they have nothing to offer to the people,  when they display their foolishness in public for people to see no one should be surprised.  Of what use is 100mb to any student in Nigeria? This is the problem we have in Africa,  we keep voting senseless people into power,  if you don't have anything to offer as expected,  keep embezzling as usual and stop making mocking of the student with 100mb daily.

FG should know that 100mb can't do anything meaningful in our phone, we don't even need their cheap data, we can afford it, they should provide us with constant electricity  and stabilize our economy we can comfortably buy ourselves date if things work well. Data is not Nigerians problem,  insecurity and hardships are the problem,  they should work on it to improve county for a better one.
