Why is this model so cheap? $9 per T @ 13J efficiency is insanely good value.

I guess the catch is in the 'e' immediately after 'S21'. Are these made from poor quality chips, heavily underclocked but more chips per board (like the old S17e miners)?

Even if it is, is that such a bad thing? I heard lots of horror stories about the S17e's, however I had a batch of 24x from new and they were quite solid.

My 17e units were bad.

But I would think you may be okay with the liquid cooled units.

but do we know that is what the 'e' represents here? It would be good to know for certain. As always, info on Bitmain website is limited

It's in Russian, but I think you'll understand the meaning of the data in the image.

Bitmain Antminer S21e XP Hydro is a liquid-cooled ASIC miner for Bitcoin mining (SHA-256). The model combines “e” (entry-level - affordable price) and “XP” (eXtreme Performance - increased efficiency). The result is a powerful Hydro miner at a price lower than the flagship S21 XP Hydro.

By using the firmware, you can change the ASIC's operating modes.
