During elections in my country, politicians come with large sums of money. They pay some amount of money to voters to cast their vote for a certain candidate or political party. Some people will collect the money in exchange for their vote.

I saw the same thing happening in the US, where Donald Trump is promising all adult Americans $5,000 if Republicans win. He is indirectly telling them to sell their votes to Republican candidates.

The difference between this vote-buying and what happens in my country is that the amount is higher in the US. Secondly, this amount is given secretly. But in the case of the US, it is open vote-buying proposal.

I am from Bangladesh. Many people in our country sell their votes for $4. They are not limited to this and it is seen that some voters take money from candidates of more than one political party. In my short life I have seen a few elections and many political candidates have given money to voters in front of me.

In our country you do not need to spend $5000 to buy votes. You can buy votes for $5.

It is like asking if corruption only exist in Africa alone. I couldn't help but burst out laughing at some point.

I wonder what would have been said if Maduro of Venezuela who the west claimed to be corrupt said something like this.

We all know that Donald Trump is drastically seeing his ratings drop ahead of the midterm elections coming up in the month of November. Why do you think he will promise such money for vote buying? His foreign policies are no different from last years donkey piss. And he has lost the iran war which he thought he would win.

 I will not be mind blown if he gets impeached, just the same way it happened to him before.

I do not see this as vote buy. In Africa that you are referring to, it is about saying if you vote for me, I will give you money, foods or something valuable. And which also means if you do not vote for me, I will not give you money, foods or something valuable. Trump is generalizing it and which is not vote buying. But it can be used to influence voters decision just like how vote buying is.
