Can they actually trade?
To me, that's where the conversation should be.
Not:
"Why are you selling signals if you're a good trader?"
But:
"If you're a good trader, can you prove it?"
The proof that they are good traders is in the result from the signal they give out; if the signals end in profit more times than they end in losses, then we can say they are good traders. There can be traders who are good with analysis but are lacking in capital to actually profit properly from the market, and instead of trying to take a loan or sell personal belongings to raise a good amount to trade with, they have chosen to sell their knowledge. Any bad trader selling signals will not be hard to notice, their results will expose them.

What do you think?
Do you see selling signals, creating trading content, or teaching as a legitimate way for a good trader to scale beyond their own capital?
And more importantly, what would you consider enough evidence that a signal provider can actually trade?
That’s why I always believe that if someone sells their signals for buying or selling cryptocurrency, they’re a bad trader - after all, a good trader doesn’t need to do that, because they can make an infinite amount of money with their skills. But in reality, everyone really likes to act as intermediaries and shift responsibility onto others by selling signals, and they just put a warning saying, “I am not responsible for your risks,” and if you’re a truly good trader, you won’t be in contact with the public at all.

Many of those who sell trading signals are just full of hot air, where they only show the profits. But we never see the many losses they’ve suffered behind the scenes. If a good trader makes such a claim then they should be fair and even show all their trading results to date. On the other hand I personally suspect that most of these signal providers are simply people focused on their own personal gain. And they might very well be profiting from all of this. We can see that most crypto trading signal sellers have affiliations with exchanges. Or some even earn recurring revenue from their membership programs. And I think there are still many other ways they profit from all of this. The problem is that they cannot guarantee profits from all those signals. I’ve also seen that a very well-known trading signal seller is currently being sued for causing significant losses to members of the trading course he ran ( Source).

If someone sell trading signals, the people the person is selling the signals to is where he is making his money from and not trading
I totally don’t agree with this your point. There are traders that make money through their signal groups by selling them to other traders but there are also traders that sell their signals and they are still making money through trading. Technically, you can’t just address traders that sell signals as non profitable traders. That just an assumption you are making, selling signals doesn’t mean they are not making money from trading. Some actually use this signal group to cover up their trading activities but some are knowledgeable and profitable they are just giving others the privilege to earn with them but the fee is the price they pay because a lot of things actually got a price. If you agree on signals sellers are not making money from trading then those paying for the signals and making money isn’t it through the seller and that seller is a trader so of course he is also making money. I know of a few trader that are selling signals but they are profitable and I have been tracking their trading history for a long time now. Just because we are profitable doesn’t mean we should offer free signals to people, success comes with a price and not just free pass. Some of this signals sellers do share some free signals to people on their channel but their is always a VIP group for those that pay.

Of course, the people who sell trading signals also trade. That's to share screenshots of some accurate signals and discard losing trading signals. Signal sellers can indeed make a profit from trading, but maybe if you look at the bigger picture, they probably enjoy the profits from selling trading signals more than the profits from trading itself. Inviting others to profit together is really just marketing speak to attract beginner traders. It sounds like a help, but actually, it's not at all.

This is a logical question. Those who are experts in trading and understand potential trading signals can make huge profits by using them, so why would they sell their signals? Those who buy trading signals and trade can make some profit sometimes, but they cannot make long-term profit. And if you quickly check their monthly ROI, you will not see any good results there. Those who sell signals are a strategy for their income. They only take money by giving fake signals to others. If you do a good research, you will see that they only take trades of a few dollars and encourage others by showing them only that. And they make their ROI look very big with a very large leverage for just a few dollars, that is a trap to attract new traders.

Maybe it's the reality; they need money for it It's always been like that. The potential earnings are a lot, and it's a business for them. It could really be the business, or the profits the trader is making. There's also the possibility of copy-trading-type things. I have seen some of the best traders, and they don't sell; maybe it's because they don't want to sell anything. And if they did, it's probably just an additional income stream for them that is more consistent. (Probably)

Actually, it's totally fine that there are people selling signals, education or trading content and if you ask why they do it of course it's for extra money. But as long as what's being offered really has value, a transparent real time track record and consistent results, that's good at least so it's not just selling empty promises. The point is limited capital is indeed a real obstacle in trading, so making use of your skills through teaching or signals is fine as long as you don't promise guaranteed profits to signal buyers.
But if someone relies on other people's signals it's still very risky because every trader has different emotions, position sizes, and discipline. So the signal provider can profit because their execution and risk management suit them, while the signal receivers often incur losses because they enter late or panic when the price moves against them. From signals sometimes we can recognize patterns but the market is still uncertain, so we should use signals only as a reference not a replacement for our own decisions and responsibility in trading. Personally, I don't use signals as a reference for making decisions because for me, doing my own research is much better.

Yes, you are right on the question to ask, because it's how quality of your service and not some piece of shit a trader promise to deliver, the same goes to a company that claim to deliver a product that isn't seems to be excellent.
It's understandable that not every knowledgeable trader has capital, I've seen and been in many groups offering signals and I've followed up the tips they drop, I got good results, lucky to be the group with smart trader. But how about others who joins the wrong ones, just imagining their experience-messy.

Apparently you have a point about how trading signals channel works and that because nowadays people abuse it just to extort money from new beginners in trading but my point here is that you can’t just address signal sellers that they aren’t making money from trading and just make money from the fees that they charge from others. There are absolutely those that make money on this signal channels but there are good traders that in their signals the profits are much higher than the losses and it a paid service. I am expressing my point through experience because I have been in a paid signal channel during my early years in trading and to be honest the profits I made from that group paved the way for where I’m right now because the profits was higher than the losses honestly. There are good people out there and we can’t use others negative works to describe others, I don’t think that right.

This is a topic of discussion that most people that are into this won't be happy about but we cannot continue to deceive ourself. We all know how complicated Trading is, even to those that have mastered the market still spend a lot of time to analyze their trades before making a final decision, that alone tells you that it's time consuming. If you are making profit from it you would not really have a lot of time on your hands to sell courses or signals to people because you would be too busy making money.
It is human nature to gatekeep whatever works for them, if trading is really works for most of these people they would not be coming out to sell trading signals, they simply do that because that's where their source of income is coming from.

I will still ask the question of why someone needs to sell a signal if they are an expert at multiplying the capital. Let’s say I understand better about the market and could trade accordingly. If at least I had hundreds of dollars, then I would multiply it and make much more money. Then it doesn’t make sense to sell my signal if they all are accurate. The question about the capital is invalid when I am going to sell the signal. I don’t like to buy any subscription for the trading signals. I have been following a couple of free channels to read their analysis, although they have private channels where you have to buy a subscription. I just follow them to get quick data.

I agree that most people who sell signals aren't good traders. But this isn't a biconditional. I studied math, after all. 😂 Just because someone decides to provide trading signals or do something similar doesn't automatically mean they are a bad trader.
What would you consider a reasonable monthly return for a trader? But if someone relies on other people's signals it's still very risky because every trader has different emotions, position sizes, and discipline. So the signal provider can profit because their execution and risk management suit them, while the signal receivers often incur losses because they enter late or panic when the price moves against them. I completely agree with you. But I think there’s one point we shouldn’t overlook. Not everyone is going to become a trader. It can take years of work and experience, with no guarantee of becoming consistently profitable. But everyone can participate in the market without making trading their full-time job. If a genuinely skilled trader offers copy trading or signals in a professional, limited, and well-documented way, I think that can be a reasonable way for this much larger group to benefit from someone else’s expertise, while still understanding the risks and taking responsibility for their own capital.

It's not hard to know if they can trade or not, First of all go through their videos, those traders involved in selling courses also make videos of their selves basically for advertisement, and if you are an experienced trader you will be able to tell from those videos if they are good or not..
Meanwhile if they repeat the same approach from their trades in those videos, that is a sign that they probably have a good and consistent strategy that works for them and checking out their signal wouldn't be a bad idea.. but if it's the other way round then know that they are probably scams

Some of this signals sellers do share some free signals to people on their channel but their is always a VIP group for those that pay. This is exactly what they all say. I still believe that traders that actual traders who know what they're doing and are profitable won't bother about selling signals. Maybe there may be actual traders that sell signals, but I think they are 1 in every 10, if not less than that. Don't talk like we don't see what is happening. We see the traders that sell signals and have VIP groups meanwhile, they are still losing more than they win. It's like a "punter" who has VIP groups. They win something but lose more, yet they feel they're winning. I know I'm generalizing, but I don't take anybody who sells signals seriously.

I don't actually think anybody that is truly profitable will have the time or would like to be stressed to offer a service like signals or even have the time to consistently create contents. Personally, If I really get good at trading and have an edge, I know for a fact that I won't be spending the little time I have trying to duplicate my edge. The sooner we can agree that most people who parade themselves as traders are simply referral/affiliate program agents and content creators, the better we would be. Maybe it is only then that we can move away from having that terrible statistics that around 95% of traders lose money.
I'm not saying everybody creating trading content are unprofitable. That is not the case. What is true, however, is the number of trading content creators that is profitable is tiny percent of the total.

A trader can have a genuine edge and still not have enough capital to generate meaningful income from trading alone.
How do you mean genuine edge because it seems you're referring to legal advantages which I still don't think there's such accreditation in trading. If a trader had also been able to find a strategy that'd earn him or her long term profits and doesn't have much capital to boost their position size in other to make bigger profits, then you should be able to manage the little incomes and grows your investment gradually and observe capital at risk. You don't need to be so impatient like you just want to grow rich overnight else you'll be at risk because of the greeds. So if you can make little incomes consistently, note it that you actualize meaningful incomes in the long term. So naturally, traders look for ways to scale their edge beyond their own account.
Some create educational content. Some build an audience on YouTube. Some offer signals. Some trade through prop firms. Some manage other people's capital.
None of these things are inherently bad.
Any claimed trader that doesn't basically rely his to achieve his goals with his trades but going outside his trades is no more a trader but something else. Anyone involved around the horizons of selling signals, the social and media influencers that promises to make you rich but expect you to subscribe or pay taxes as commission isn't genuine.

That's a much more interesting question.
What do you think?
Do you see selling signals, creating trading content, or teaching as a legitimate way for a good trader to scale beyond their own capital?
I don’t really have much problem with these traders that are selling signals, my main point of focus is that if they can trade, they should not depend on the signal money to scale up their capital. As low as your capital can be, when you are able to trade well and be sure that you’re one of those profitable traders, then you should be able to scale up and not depend on the money for signal. Accepting minimal reasonable amount for signal sell if fine, we can say it is for commitment of the person but charging big money when you claim to already be profitable is not making any sense. And more importantly, what would you consider enough evidence that a signal provider can actually trade?
As a signal provider, you don’t need to drop signals daily, by doing so you’re not showing to me that you’re a good trader, you don’t impress your followers by dropping signals even when a trade is not certain. These are my red flags in signal group trading. One good trader over three days is better than three or more bad trades that hit stop loss, break even, or one win out of the rest.

Some are trading to be profitable by selling signals even though they are not using the same signal they are selling to others for themselves. If you think you don't know much about trading, it is more advisable that you learn and take your time to understand some of the strategies and trading patterns to be profitable than to depend on third parties' signals that will end up failing you on trades.
