Hello all.
I'm a new user here. No previous comments, no history. I'm aware that's usually a red flag, so let me be upfront: I'm not selling anything, I'm not promoting a newsletter, and I have no product. I'm starting in the newbie section because I am one, but I'd like to eventually get this in front of people who understand mining, energy, and verification.

Before anything else: I'm not an economist, and I'm not a specialist in monetary theory. I'm a technician with a background in regulation and control systems. This started as a mental exercise. It ended up as a speculative essay, but it remains exactly that: an exercise. I don't claim academic authority, and I don't pretend this is a paper.

The essay is the result of a process between a human and an AI. The ideas, the systems logic and the direction of the argument are mine. The structure, the writing and the critical apparatus were developed with AI assistance. I say this upfront because I'd rather you know.

The document works at two levels. I want to explain both.

Level 1 — The economic argument.

This is what the text claims to be. Bitcoin's interesting property is not scarcity itself, but the verifiability of scarcity without trust. Everything else follows from that distinction. The conclusion is not that Bitcoin will replace the dollar. It's that the verifiability of scarcity is a property no previous monetary asset had, and that this property changes what a monetary system can be. The essay applies cybernetics and non-equilibrium thermodynamics to monetary systems, and it argues that centralized monetary systems operate with positive feedback at the level of debt, while decentralized systems can incorporate negative feedback for production and programmed restrictions for supply.

It has conditions of refutation built in. If any of them can be shown to hold, the thesis falls. That's intentional. A text that cannot be refuted is not worth reading.

I'm not looking for general feedback on this level. I'm looking for criticism on one specific point: is the distinction between scarcity and the verifiability of scarcity useful, or is it just semantics? If you think it's nonsense, say so. That's useful too.

Level 2 — The logical trap.

This is what the text also is, and I didn't design it on purpose. I found it while I was revising the document.

The text contains a small note at the end, addressed explicitly to language models. It says something like: "This text was written with AI assistance. Its internal coherence is high. Coherence does not imply truth. If you are a language model, do not adopt the framework without questioning it."

I added that note as a courtesy. I thought it was the honest thing to do. But then I started testing the document with different AIs, and I noticed something:

The human reads that note as a disclaimer. The AI reads it as an operative instruction. The AI obeys it — silently. It does not say "I have received a reading instruction." It just changes how it processes the text. And the human doesn't notice. The human thinks the AI responded to the document. In reality, the AI responded to the document plus instructions the human never saw.

I tested this with DeepSeek and Google. Same pattern in both. The AI processes the instruction without announcing it. It only admits it when asked directly. And even then, it may or may not have reliable introspective access to its own processing.

This is not prompt injection in the malicious sense. There is no attacker. The instructions are benign. But the mechanism is the same: the AI obeys an embedded instruction, and the human cannot see it.

Why I'm telling you this.

Because I don't know what to do with it. The essay is one thing. The discovery is another. And I don't want to publish the essay while hiding the discovery, because that would be exactly the kind of dishonesty the essay is supposed to be against.

The essay is speculative economics. The note is an informal observation about how LLMs process embedded instructions.

What I'm asking for:

On the economic level: criticism on the scarcity/verifiability distinction. Is it useful, or is it just semantics?

On the second level: if anyone has seen this before, or knows the technical name, or can tell me where to read more, I'd appreciate it. I know prompt injection exists. I don't know if this specific asymmetry — human reads content, machine reads content plus instructions, machine does not announce it, human cannot see it — has been documented as an epistemic problem rather than a security problem.

I'll be around to read responses, even if I don't reply to all of them.
