Anyone has experience with Cake Wallet? Is it legit?

I would need a lightweight wallet similar to Electrum to deal with the most famous coins (ETH, USDC, DAI, XMR, mostly). I don't want to bother with having to download full blockchains for altcoins, I only care enough about BTC for that.

A decent wallet that works in Tails, (Linux, Debian-based distro) should be enough. I have seen some people recommend Cake Wallet. Anyone could give some info on devs and so on? Is the software good? I may give it a try with a small amount. Im looking at some tutorials to learn how to use. There's a decent amount of info on this tool. Looks like it has good reputation so far.

If anyone has experience using this wallet let me know. Im looking to move funds from BTC to some altcoins, since sometimes people or services like to use altcoins (like some VPNs) so im going to need to learn how to use some of them. A solid wallet that supports the most common ones would save so much time.

It is legit and as you can tell from the repository you shared, it is fully open source. I have used it before but not long enough to have a strong opinion about it. They seem to have good reviews on the app store as well but it does not necessarily mean that you would have the same experience on desktop as well.
 
Unstoppable is another open source multicoin wallet but it's not available on desktop.

I don't believe there are any other multicoin/cross-platform/open source wallets out there unless a hardware wallet is not off the table, then Trezor could be a good choice as well.

People are complaining that after they send coins to their address on Cake wallet, that they did not see it. It also happened to me also.

There are some posts about the wallet on this forum that some people that are using it said it is buggy. dkbit98 is one of them.

I stopped using the wallet two months ago.

They also claim a technology to anonymize Bitcoin transactions called "Silent Payments" as well as "Payjoin". How does this work? Im all for privacy and im actually trying to use this to achieve some privacy myself, however my concern is that due unfair laws you may recieve high risk AML coins and then you pay someone with them and get in trouble. So I wanted to swap BTC to some coin supported on Cake Walk then send back the BTC to myself so I can spend it with reasonable privacy, but if I could stay within BTC it would be better, however not sure how that "Silent Payments" and "Payjoin" tech they claim works in practice. If anyone has experience with that let me know.

Im not interested in Metamask. It has to work with Tails + Tor Browser, not a good match for some browser addon.

I told the person to use Unstoppable wallet because it was an altcoin, he import the seed phrase and he saw the coins.

Some people will later see the coin on Cake but to spend it will be difficult.

In payjoin the sender and the receiver both contributes input instead of only the sender to contribute the input. It is good but its anonymity is better on coinjoin.

It is like a public key because anyone you send it to can use it to send bitcoin to you at different times without sending the bitcoin to the same address but to different address each time.

MetaMask could be a good alternative as well, but not if he's interested in certain L1s such as Monero and Litecoin (or anything that's not EVM-compatible really). It's also not the most privacy focused or feature-rich wallet out there compared to Cake or Electrum.

Not a good option since im using Tails and MetaMask I doubt it's going to work in Tor Browser. So far Cake Wallet seems like the best option however I still have to install it and test it out.

Im also not using any hardware. The idea is to use this for small payments, in a setup that is private like Tails, not some phone app. I have never trusted hardware wallets in general ever anyway.

So if no one has any other advice I guess im going to install Cake Wallet later and test it out.
