I noticed some users are being impersonated in another forum to join  some giveaways.

@BlackHatCoiner @GazetaBitcoin,  I suggest you take a look and teleport your account (so nobody willbe able to use your name there again)

First of all, I just checked and the two accounts are under review so kudos to the admins on Att for that quick response.

I also want to add that the users behind this disgusting attempt to abuse a user's reputation are still part of this forum, and they have observed for a long time that either those reputable members have not yet teleported their accounts, or just don't have any interest to do so.

Someone help me understand this teleportation thing. I thought someone could not fake an account's activity score when teleporting an account to the other forum. Let's say someone wanted to impersonate me, they would have to add some link to my Bitcointalk profile (if I recall well), which they can't do unless they have access to my account. So how are these scammers able to impersonate old reputable accounts?

They could not fake the activity score because a legit teleported account start at higher activity score. They were simply registering new account under the nickname of some reputable user on this forum that hasnt teleported their account ( 2 nickname spotted by bitmover )

So far all of those account's post were on bitcoin price prediction thread but its always better to be safe than sorry. God knows when they will start 'scamming' under those reputable nickname

They just used the same names. But they did not teleport

When you are teleported you get the rank and activity of your rank on altcoinstalks forum, and you also get a teleported badge.

However, as someone already took their usernames, they would have to ask admin to rename or deleted these account so they could properly teleport now

I do not think this is fair. It is true that there is a similarity in usernames, but that is not enough to prove that they impersonated BTT accounts.
It might be better if ALTT admin added a special tag for such accounts.

Creating a forum account using another known username on another forum isn't fair either.
It is obvious that those people created the account just to abuse the contests, and they knew about these reputed Bitcointalk forum users. These usernames aren't something common names like John Doe. Such people should be banned. Altcoinstalks is not the same as Bitcointalk. They do not allow multiple accounts without declaring them. The admin and their staff often step up to find alternative accounts and find cheaters. So, we should let them do whatever they want to do with their forum.

If the Altcoinstalk forum does not have an account teleport feature from this forum, I suppose it would be okay for anyone to use a name on that forum. But we know that many members of this forum also have accounts on that forum. This clearly requires more attention from the Altcoinstalk forum admin. Even if they do not ban such accounts, they should be marked to prevent potential transaction risks and any misuse in the future.

Is there no way to punish such users impersonating these accounts? Because it's identity theft and imagine if these users had used it for something more shady other than giveaways?

This sounds like it was created to force users from Bitcointalk to create an account on an insignificant altcoin forum.
If someone falls for a username on a different forum, they can't be helped. I'm not going to create an account to prevent someone else from using my name, if I'd start that, there are millions more sites to register on.

The two accounts are already being profiled and showing a mark as under review. A poll was also created for the community to vote and decide for the appropriate punishment for the abuse that was committed. And yes, your concern has already been raised in the thread regarding the possibility of their reputation or their identity being misused.

But I doubt that these two accounts will be able to make that happen. Both accounts are newly created and it is also being monitored. Also, some high ranking users in ATT who initially have an account here in Bitcointalk, used this forum as a way to verify whether the user is real or could be impersonating someone.

Bitcointalk and altcointalk are different platform's, and you may find similarities in usernames who's genuinely not impersonating a user from BTT and another platform, Secondly, there's every possibility that not everyone in altcointalk are in bitcointalk, so similarities can happen..

But that doesn't mean that what you suspected of the two users account can not be possible, it will be possible due to what the impersonator have in mind in BTT..The person who is impersonating with both accounts may not have good intentions to the original owners of the account, but I seems it like something that will not have any effects on the users in bitcointalk...

It will be better to notify the admin of altcointalk to tags both accounts if really they're impersonators....

Seems they failed to teleport as this process requires the actual Bitcointalk forum account to have the Altcoinstalk account user ID to be included on website section which was never going to happen and resorted to impersonation.

Btw looking at the date of registration of these accounts,  these certainly look like they are controlled by the same person and reason they  had to wait for a month to pass before posting those predictions was because the prediction games required altcointalk account to be over 30 days old?? And the likely reason this happened is because telegram price prediction games required to have an Altcoinstalk username added for verification  and if it won a  message would be sent to that account. So from the month of February you are likely to find more impersonating accounts as that after the 30days of when this requirement was first introduced.

Btw a username(s) and BTC addresses should be attached to these accounts on telegram if it will bring any leads, will take a look in a minute.. dead-end

Okay, got it. Thanks for clearing this up. What actually confused me was the points thingy  Grin. On a closer look I noticed that both accounts amassed over 2000 points, yet their activity is still low. How does this work over there? Is it an equivalent of merits in this forum?

So far all of those account's post were on bitcoin price prediction thread but its always better to be safe than sorry. God knows when they will start 'scamming' under those reputable nickname
Okay, got it. Thanks for clearing this up. What actually confused me was the points thingy  Grin. On a closer look I noticed that both accounts amassed over 2000 points, yet their activity is still low. How does this work over there? Is it an equivalent of merits in this forum?

No, the merit equivalent is karma.

Points are basically useless, they used to exist to convert to an ALTT token, which no longer exist.

I suggest you take a look and teleport your account (so nobody willbe able to use your name there again)
This sounds like it was created to force users from Bitcointalk to create an account on an insignificant altcoin forum.
If someone falls for a username on a different forum, they can't be helped. I'm not going to create an account to prevent someone else from using my name, if I'd start that, there are millions more sites to register on.
The mentioned accounts primarily only participated in free raffles and bounty contests. It may be tricky, in order to trick the manager into accepting them when he sees known usernames. I guess they expect that when there is a large number of applications that the manager will not check in more detail.

Creating a forum account using another known username on another forum isn't fair either.
Your full name can be used by the others in real life, and you can not controll that.

It's unlikely you have any rights to prohibit any other people, like parents to name their children with full names like yours, or any people to use account nicknames like yours.

It's freedom, and it should be like that.

Problems only exist if people use those nicknames to impersonate anyone else. If there is nothing like that, I see no problem.

Prohibit anyone to use a specific nickname is unfair, and you can imagine as well as expand to a bigger scale like there are many forums, not only Bitcointalk.org or altcoinstalks.com. Don't only limit to these two forums and think like if two members in two forums have a same username, person behind those accounts is one person, or one account is an impersonating.

Proactively action from a reputable member is simple, if are fearful about any possible impersonating accounts: creating a thread in reputation board, leave a note about that or those accounts on other forum(s), it's enough.

If i see more users I will add them here. There are probably more abuse
Ive seen this User had the same username of a prominent forum member here but without a teleported tagged but its not active anymore. Also checked the post history and the last posts was used in some giveaways.

The user stats also shown been active on Nigeria Local section, but Im pretty know that the user with that username here came from our local Philippines. So clearly a different user from the one there on ALTT. Though the altcoinstalk account isnt active anymore. If @Darker45 decided to teleport his account on the alt forum. What will happened on the nigerian account? Will it be deleted?

This is precicely the reason why I put on my profile that no other account with the username alani123 is mine. It's ok to have a unique username solely for the forum. Everything else can be confirmed by linking it on your profile, it doesn't need to be the same. People need to do their own due diligence.

It will be better to notify the admin of altcointalk to tags both accounts if really they're impersonators....
He already did, and from what the "president" of altcoinstalks said, both of the account has been banned. You can check "Freemind's" response to the thread on altcoinstalks to verify.
