HEY Research Lab — finding who is actually still building on Robinhood Chain

heyresearch.xyz

We built Hey Research Lab in 2022.

It didn't work well.

But the idea never left us.

Back then I knew roughly what I wanted to build, but I don't think I understood the problem deeply enough yet. So eventually we stopped.

Over the years I kept coming back to the same observation.

I've spent a lot of time researching and looking for projects early, and one thing I noticed is that the market is very good at showing you what already has attention. It is much worse at showing you what is quietly being worked on.

Sometimes a project looks completely dead from the outside. Low volume. Nobody talking about it. Nothing interesting happening on the chart.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the background, the developer is still committing code, fixing things, experimenting and shipping.

Then weeks later, people suddenly discover it.

That pattern stayed in my head.

When I started spending more time around Robinhood Chain, the old idea came back. So four years later, I decided to give it another try.

We rebuilt it as Hey Research Lab, this time around a much simpler question:

Who is actually still building?

There are still a lot of things we need to figure out, and what we're building today will probably look very different a year from now. But it feels good to revisit something we tried to build in 2022 with four more years of experience behind it.

Sometimes an old idea deserves a second attempt.

What it does

  • Reads what a project ships — commits, releases, changelogs, docs, and contracts deployed after the launch — and dates every one of them.
  • Ranks by that activity, never by price. Market cap and volume are context on the page, not inputs to anything.
  • Keeps the source behind every fact, so you can go and check it yourself rather than take our word for it.
  • Answers the same question for a single contract address at heyresearch.xyz/scan, including addresses we have never seen before.

What it does not do

This part matters more than the list above, because it is where most tools in this space live and we deliberately do not.

  • No wallet analytics, no PnL, no smart-money labels, no holder maps read as a claim about people.
  • No risk score and no verdict. We never tell you a project is safe, and we never tell you it isn't. We show you what happened, when, and where we read it.
  • No paid placement. Ranking does not depend on holding $HEY, on paying us, or on a token going up.
  • We do not claim that a project which keeps building will be worth more. Those are two different things and we keep them apart.

One number, so this isn't just a pitch

Robinhood Chain produces launches faster than anyone can read them. Of the 10,431 projects HEY currently has a page for, 250 carry publicly verified code activity — and 40% of those 250 produced all of it inside a single week.

That is not a flattering number for our own index, and it is exactly the problem the tool exists for. Building something that looks finished has never been cheaper. Still being there in two months has not gotten any cheaper at all, and that is the part we measure.

Token

Code:
CA: 0xb33eb16782776b4d738c0fd643577cb0284db610
Chain: Robinhood Chain (4663)

The site works without it. Browsing has never required a wallet, and nothing on the organic side of the product is gated on holding the token.

Happy to answer questions in the thread, including the sceptical ones. If you find something we've measured wrong, tell me and I'll fix it.

Hope this is useful to some of you.

Haha I’m old school, never really got into Discord 😅 I’ll get one set up soon and share it here.
