Notice how they'll let you opt out of almost everything?

You can leave the church.

Leave the marriage.

The country.

The family you were born into.

Every institution that ever held a human being has a door on it, and someone eventually kicked that open.

Wars were fought for those doors.

Reformations.

Revolutions.

Divorce law.

Passports.

The right to quit without being thrown into prison.

Exit is the whole story of the last five hundred years.

But there is one door.

One that was never kicked open.

You can renounce your citizenship.

You cannot renounce the currency.

You can walk out on your employer and marriage.

You cannot walk out on the unit they are priced in.

Every system assumed that you were born inside the money and would die inside it.

Nobody bothered to guard it.

Every other institution had to earn you to have you.

The money never did.

Where would you go?

Bitcoin is the fire exit nobody thought to lock.

Because nobody ever imagined the building could burn.

That's why you sound insane at dinner parties.

Have you noticed that evacuation systems always work flawlessly, except during a fire?   Tongue

A beautiful as always
I would add that even if we leave indirectly we still affected by the system
Bitcoin helps imo reduce our dependence in the system.

Quote
Bitcoin is the fire exit nobody thought to lock.
Except now some willingly give a third party the key without considering they on their mercy.

Because nobody ever imagined the building could burn.
Or also scared of what it would mean if the building does come crashing.
It has been for years but it always gets patched/renovated with people for getting about the past.

Yes. The ability to remember the past—memory—is a great (and likely the greatest) asset. The desire to start a new life without remembering the past is like throwing away one's coins.

But you are also forgetting one thing that they are building fences round the building and the fences are becoming very high to exit the building. And every now and then different types of paints are used to beautify the fences which most people who saw the door and exited or tried to exit are now failing in with the texture of the fence walls.

Perhaps, exiting is difficult but not impossible and the fire is fast consuming. Bitcoin is the exit but privacy is the breaking of the fence to freedom at last.

That is a powerful piece of rhetorical prose I must say because it portrays how the monetary financial system of Bitcoin, has shifted or created different views based on the risk of adoption and investment it poses to the world economics.
While some see it as an escape from the ever inflation of their currency value, others see it as a disaster waiting to happen because of the effect of volatilities present in the market.

Interesting thought but I think I don't fully agree.

There are communities that use their own currencies or none at all for most of their needs. Some live on subsistence basis or a gift / barter economy (mainly in rural areas in developing countries), some have local currencies (hippie/eco-village communities).

They will usually need a little bit of fiat though, to buy goods like phones / electronics or fuel. But in theory this is also possible to do in a barter economy: simply offer something people "outside" of the community need, bartering it to a phone or food. You don't need necessarily fiat for that. Nor do you need Bitcoin.

The only problem is taxes, where the authorities may require a payment in fiat - but that is also a hurdle for Bitcoin.

Exactly.
This is why I've been using the term "Exit" for Bitcoin for as long as I can remember. An exit out of the existing centralized and inflationary fiat system into a decentralized and deflationary system that cannot be censored.

And yet some people are still busy looking at the price and panic each time there is a tiny drop Smiley

People can simply start putting some parts of their savings in a place they have more direct control over it and that is the part that really stands out to me because you don’t actually need to convince everyone to leave traditional financial system. For example someone that is earning salary in naira can receive their income via normal bank while choosing to save some in bitcoin, that alone changes relationship they have with their funds without requiring them to abandon the system.

That is why bitcoin can be difficult to understand I guess, it is not just another investment or payment app. it gives us another flexible option we don’t really have before.

The only problem is taxes, where the authorities may require a payment in fiat - but that is also a hurdle for Bitcoin.

The Rautes, Awa tribe, and the Yanomami and Sentinelese remote indigenous groups are examples of communities that have isolated themselves from modern market economies. The government doesn't care about them because their population is insignificant and their lands don't have valuable mineral resources. They would have been forced to use fiat if the government wanted that to happen.

Bitcoin remains one of the best means to bypass some of the financial restrictions placed by the government.

Exactly.

The majority of the people who buy Bitcoin are not aware of it dentralised and deflationary features. They are just interested in profit, so they are always looking at the price.

The majority of the people who buy Bitcoin are not aware of it dentralised and deflationary features. They are just interested in profit, so they are always looking at the price.
Obviously, cause all they view it as is as a means of making one rich, so every other feature takes the back burner. Bitcoin has provided an out for those who are looking to own their privacy but unfortunately some are more focused on being dependent, seeking solace in something they can't opt out of, looking like addicts waiting for their next fix.
