Thanks to Roger Ver of (Memory Dealers and bitinstant) for the idea.

You can now spend bitcoins on airline tickets through http://spendbitcoins.com. Just choose "Southwest gift code" as your "convert to" option on the main page and checkout on Southwest with your gift code.

As always, please use the links on http://links.spendbitcoins.com to add items to your shopping cart and checkout.

If you have a suggestion for the next site we should add, please enter your suggestion at the bottom of http://links.spendbitcoins.com.

Happy spending!

That video made me feel sick.

If I ever fly again (fuck the TSA/DHS/insert-alphabet-soup-here), using bitcoin would be awesome.

I used to get pulled over for full security scans all the time when I flew by myself as a kid.  Post 9/11 I've actually had an easier time at security lol.

I know someone who will fly people in a private plane at cost, to eliminate all reporting requirements, for BTC. Located in SoCal so easy flights to Vegas, Phoenix, LA, San Fran, Grand Canyon, etc. with 3 open seats, Santa Monica to North Las Vegas in about 90 minutes and ~$600 round trip total. PM me if interested.

I've been trying to figure out how to accept bitcoin on my own website, which is like a search engine for tickets... but the shopping carts are all controlled by different vendors of whom I'm just an affiliate.

I had thought initially that I could simply offer to make purchases using my own credit card, on behalf of buyers who wished to pay me in bitcoin.... but that sounds hard to scale, and mainly useful for promoting bitcoin.

However spendbitcoins.com gives me another idea... I can create discount codes at will for promotional use, up to the full value of tickets sold.    I could simply offer to create codes of the appropriate value if buyers want to pay me in bitcoin, and perhaps even offer a slight discount for that.  Most likely, the main value of this right now would be in promoting bitcoin, since all visitors would see it mentioned on the purchase pages.

Still, is such a strategy viable?  Could I integrate somehow with spendbitcoins if I implemented special discount codes for bitcoin?

thanks for any advice or thoughts... I'm still kind of new at this and fishing around for ideas on how to use BTC in my existing business.
