The House Committee did passed the “Strategic Bitcoin Rerserve Bill” so it’s not a fake news. Some blogs have published articles about it yesterday, it passed with a 28-21 vote.

Yeah I saw this some blogs too about the decision made by the house committee, I think this great for the Bitcoin community, although it hasn't gotten to the final steps by the by signing of the president but it's a first step that should be appreciated. Just hoping that it gets voted in the house of reps afterwards atleast it would help in reducing dumping of seized assets in the market as well as many advantages.

The Committee passing the bill does not mean anything yet until it is passed by the senate. I'm afraid the failing of the Clarity Act is an indication of what might likely happen to this unless President Trump intervenes and lobby well since he was the one that made the pronouncement and already signed executive order to that effect.

But does the passing of this really call for celebration? We know that the plan is not for the US to make any Bitcoin purchase but for only seized coins which we know will not make any significant impact on the market. Assuming the US will be acquiring some Bitcoin in addition to these ones, then we would have been motivated to celebrate a big win for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.

The bill has not passed Congress. The House Financial Services Committee advanced the American Reserve Modernization Act (ARMA) of 2026 (H.R. 8957). This is the first phase towards making a law that would require the US government to keep its current Bitcoin holdings for 20 years, with no sales, swaps, or trade. The proposed law will also require the president to get the backing of the legislature before the Bitcoin can be sold. If passed, the days of auctioning Bitcoin by executive orders would be over.

It is too early to celebrate because this bill would need to pass the House, get through the Senate, and receive the President's signature before becoming law.

If you look at this critically, you will see that there is need for celebration if the bill I eventually pass to law. You know the US has been seizing a good number of bitcoins over the years, sometimes they auction these seized bitcoins, and it goes back into circulation immediately. But if the bill is passed into law and they seize any bitcoins, at least we are sure that for the next number of years that is in the bill, those seized bitcoins won’t be in circulation. This will affect the circulating supply, which will cause scarcity and increase prices.

Secondly, if they can achieve this one, there is every possibility that the bill can be amended in the future to make room for the US government to purchase bitcoins. For me there is need to celebrate if this bill is passed.

That makes for interesting reading and this is good news for cryptocurrency overall. It's not as extensive as the other act, but that no doubt got dragged down by everyone trying to jam their own add-on's into it. It's better to have a slimmer and more targeted bill like this. It formalizes the process for the Treasury to approach holding these assets and it's important for transparency that they don't just vanish, when you consider some of the criminals that the government take down have hundreds or even thousands of bitcoins in their possession. It could in theory lead to things like stolen money coins being returned to their owners, if they can absolutely be traced back through the blockchain (aka no mixing took place). Ultimately some of those coins can be held but some could also be returned into government spending for good causes.

It's just not what the headline makes it sound like.

The House Financial Services Committee voted 28-21 on Sept 16 to send ARMA (H.R. 8957) to the full House. That's a committee vote, not the House passing anything. A committee saying "yes, the rest of you should look at this" is a long way from law. There's still a full House vote, a Senate vote, and the President's signature left.

It would make it law so the next president can't just undo it.

The bill can force the US to hold their billions of stash for 20 years? That's good news, but as you said there is nothing to be excited about yet.

Because the Senate is the hardest part. Like the CLARITY Act failed to get the required votes from the Senate, it might not be able to get through that.

Senate votes are the hardest part, but do they even want this law in the first place, because so far the coins they are holding are just in accumulation, not strategic reserves, so they can do whatever they want with the current coins. Even if they said they won't sell, by the way they sold recently.

Among the other important vote left I guess the one lethal there is the Senate vote. Im pretty sure it will end up being sabotage by some of them just like what happened on Clarity Act.

Ive seen this news circulating on X like its become a Law and many people quoting it and using it as bullish indicator again for market reversal lol. CT always make the the timeline full of hype.

The news is legit, what's probably not right but somehow misleading is the how the headline was put out. The House committee voted 28-21 to advance the bill, that's different from saying the entire House has passed it into law.

That said, I think it deserves the attention it's getting for reaching this stage. If it's eventually passed into law, it'll establish a permanent legal framework for the US government held BTC.

The bill is already passed on the Congress committee level but as we know already, for it to become a law, there is still the full house vote from the house of reps, the Senate approval, before the President can sign it into law.

The clarity Act as I suspected may have to be brought up by next year before anything positive is probably done about it, otherwise, it would just be abandoned and it would be a win for the political elites heavily invested in the cryptocurrency market.

It is too early to celebrate because this bill would need to pass the House, get through the Senate, and receive the President's signature before becoming law.
I have also thought about this as well because they can't just easily
pass the bill without going through processes to achieve and make it easily effective
before they could published an article so easily.
I don't see any reason to celebrate yet about this,
although this is also positive news which could boost the market so easily.

Do not fall for headline screenshots. The document in that post is very real. But the CT post is completely hollow. On September 16, the House Financial Services Committee voted 28 to 21 along strict party lines to report H.R. 8957 out of committee. The vote only puts that in the legislative calendar. Not a law that has been passed.

Think about the real economics of this. Crypto Twitter acts as if the Federal Reserve is about to print billions to buy spot Bitcoin. That is just not true. This bill clearly eliminates all taxpayer-funded market purchases.

Moreover, there is a real cost to this bill. In order to compensate for the administrative costs, the committee added a provision to include language on wash sales in digital asset transactions. Stop celebration of bureaucratic moves that do not promote self-sovereignty.

This stuff is authentic, but it's just early process for the bill before it will be going to senate. There's nothing special in this. The dumb CT is always doing this blick bait tweet just to get traffic.

Beside that this ARMA bill is only focusing on the seized bitcoin owned by US. It's not the same as Bitcoin act bill that is suggesting US to buy so many bitcoin to be their reserve.

This bill does nothing to the bitcoin, but it's only preventing US to sell its seized btc by locking it for at least 20 years.
