Executing such U-turn is nothing short of rug pull.

Lula administration first yielded tremendous revenue by marketing license and now all of a sudden they have memorized their social responsibility! lol

Modifying laws overnight after endowing enterprise license create more than just legal uncertainty. It also totally erodes Brazil's credibility in eyes of major global investor.

Let us treat this new policy framework if passed as a reversal or a further titthening regulations that will definitely create regulatory uncertainty in the gambling market system, because not quite long the law take R$30 millions which was implemented by the new licensing system of the country and an additional 12% gross tax for five years authorization for license

The bigger debates will come when clarity have to be made between, the harm's created by casino game's which they seek to be treated differently from sport betting why are tax and licensing fees taken sponsorship and promotion of those companies in the first considering they current regulatory framework.

The bill may create a lot of noise during legislative debate and alot of clarity as regards to how casino games are treated away for sport betting instead fusing the whole law around the industry and treated them as one, investors shouldn't pay for they political analysis like law that seek to experiment industry uncertainty like this

This is what I think:

A country that people accept gambling already, the government should not deceive themselves by banning gambling in such country because the people in the country will continue to find ways to gamble.

What I only see is that the legal gambling sites that are paying taxes, the government will not be able to continuing collecting the taxes, but Brazilians will continue to gamble.

Making such rash decision without considering these factor demonstrates extreme immaturity on part of govt.
If brazil govt believe that only ban will stop people from gambling then they are living in fantasy world.

If licensed platform are banned then people will simply turn to offshore and unregulated crypto casino. This would not only result in loss of govt revenue but also leave ordinary user without any consumer protection.

The reason is clear, they want to make a show for the elections because they say many poor families are losing money and are against casinos.

Also today they announced they will increase the Bolsa Familia assistance money in 15% because the election is this month

They do not care about increasing the debt in billions and banning industries that make money for a lot of parts of the econnomy, this government from Lula is terrible

According to two of the sources, the ban would not extend to sports betting or sponsorship deals involving sports clubs and competitions.

Apparently, they are targeting online casino games and the ban would not extend to sports betting, and that could probably be because of the sponsorship deals that sports clubs have with these betting platforms. It does not make any sense, why grant licenses a little over a year ago and now proposing to ban an important source of revenue of these platforms. Because even if sports betting would still be allowed, these platforms cannot survive on only that, and they would most likely leave Brazil.

Perhaps even if they collected huge tax, they don't want their population to fall into gambling addiction. Similar to what our country has done by the previous administration, they collected a lot of tax from gambling. But then it was used to good because of the pandemic that time. But since the government has change and there was no control, there was a lot of troubling cases that even if they want to stop it, it's very hard as everyone is addicted because of online gambling.

Although there are a lot of measures being taken, it might take a lot of years just to be able to restrict online bets even if there is a directive to stop it at any cost. So the lesson is that gambling is a double edge knife. It has good effects in the beginning, but in long term, it might really damage the society.

Is this the best they can come up with? The whole plan will look like a rugpull, I am not in support and I am not a Brazilian living in the country but it's obvious that this will have negative effects on the country, it's too deep already to just ban everything.

The government of the country should just work better on regulating everything, if possible they should deal with this who have been taking advantage of the situation, to me it feels like corruption on the inside.

I am wondering what the government plan is about this sponsorship, are they going to take responsibility for that or they are going to intentionally ruin everything? Folding hands for now, let's see what happens.

Lately I have seen that the Brazilian government, especially under the leadership of President Luiz Inácio, is referring to tightening and regulating crypto-based sites, Not only the crypto gambling platforms I saw, including exchange platforms, they are also regulated by the Brazilian government.

From one side tightening supervision of digital platforms has positive impacts and also negative impacts, but if the Brazilian government aims for every crypto casino to treat the rules as below.

Tightening of Advertising and Regulations: Brazil's Ministry of Finance imposed strict rules requiring betting advertisements to display a warning of the risk of addiction as well as prohibiting the depiction of betting as a form of investment or source of income.

For me, it's not a bad thing, but the blocking of digital casino platforms, for no reason, certainly doesn't make sense, Brazilian society is hard to separate from the world of gambling.

There isn't any, and they won't receive compensation for it either. Let's see if those clubs follow the lead of Serie A clubs in trying to "trick" the law.

For investors or entrepreneurs in the gambling industry of course this is a concern and confusion for those there, this is definitely because the uncertainty of regulation messes it up.

The government should give firmness, do not just spread the issue that becomes an endless concern especially if they have not prepared in the least in deciding on this new rule, it seems if they close the meeting for the gambling industry it is a decision taken and the consequences are indeed income from taxes or gambling activities will disappear but they must provide a solution to it all, speaking of players they will easily do a way to play, as for example in my country, although gambling is prohibited, online gambling will not be easily tracked.

The irony that the government would squeeze all the possible water from a stone and break it afterwards. They capitalize on something that they fully knew they would prohibit in the guise of police power and welfare of its citizens.

I do think that this somehow amounts to bad faith due to the lack of any reasonable means on their part. While their government has a valid purpose on such prohibition, the exercise of such power was done without any lawful means.

Like what I previously mentioned, the power of the government to restrict the use of property and rights must be exercised with two (2) limitations- lawful purpose; and lawful means. If the government prohibits gambling but before such prohibition they've exercised actions that amounted to bad faith, then they must necessarily address these problems.

There is really no country that can completely ban online gaming and sports betting.
I do not mean to sound cynical , but they need the money (revenue) just as much as the players needs their winnings and the operators needs their profits.
A complete total ban will give way to the rise of illegal gambling which is a trouble I do not think any government want to have to deal with.  
What they need to do in my estimation is strict regulation of the gambling industry. Regulation is what other countries are doing, they should learn from them.

I think I would not invest a dime in something that sounds this uncertain. The low man like me doesn't matter though, your 1% rich people in the country are who this matters to.

As far as gambling goes, I have always thought that we work for our money and should be able to spend it however we want, but governments everywhere try to put some sort of restriction on that, whether it be ban this or that, tax this or that, this is illegal or whatever, we have restrictions on exactly how we can spend our money somewhat.

Banning sports betting or completely is fine but if they try to break the sponsorship deals then the government will be affected because brand brings revenue to the government to be honest and if they make an issue for their invested money then they will make them pay in the other way.

Does that mean they will not temper any physical casino if their target is only to focus on online casinos, I really do not understand what they tends to achieve with this sudden change of mind but I tell you it is not going to end well because lots of persons who are already fully into online casinos will not accept this anytime soon, uncertainties like this is the reason we have people gambling illegal gambling and the reason some persons travel to other countries to do illegal gambling, here few days ago there was this discussion on how some persons were arrested in another country for illegal gambling business, now with things like this why will an affected  person not practice such act.

Sometimes they miss that part where people will gamble illegally if they ban the gambling sites and the online sports bookies. They might just make it worse because they won't get anything from those illegal sites, and even if they hunt them catch them, they will still get nothing out of it.

Why not just legalize it and create income from taxes, licenses, and other profits coming from it? Regulate them and try to be strict with KYC rules and other rules that will prohibit illegal age and money laundering schemes. That's a lot of money that will be wasted for nothing if they continue this.
