I have been a devoted member of this community especially our Nigerian local board till date and even if it seems as if I am no longer that active is for a reason, but that does not mean I don't read things that are going on here to take note.

We can do more than this and I believe we pipo get the energy to do more better than this. I will also like to draw it from the beginners over here that is not easy at all to survive here couples with some restrictions on the community, you guys are doing everything possible to noticed and probably earned more merits to grow to the next rank but that is not just the only way to survive and grow here.

Before we (you) create any topic for discussion we should at least check thoroughly if that topic or the content on that topic isn't directing to the same thing on other person topic. I see some topic being created with different title but when you entirely read the body of the topic you would see that they are pointing on same thing, something like, security and how to secure your investment for long, what are the steps to secure your investment, where to secure your seed phrase and etc.

All these are saying the same thing, it just about having patient to read through that topic and we shouldn't be that haste to go make topics because as we know already whatever thing that would come into your mind to discuss about had been definitely been discussed here, so it's just for you to look for a topic that is saying the same and do your contribution over there in that topic than for you to go create another new topic. Note: you can earn merits anywhere and any place on the community provided that what you share, your inputs worth it you would definitely received what you are expecting.

My people I say make I encourage us small small the place no easy as we think am.

You make a good point. Some of us around here thinks that having a strong community is about how many topics we have here, while in reality, it’s actually less about how more topics but having better discussions, which repetitive topics may not actually offer. A new thread doesn’t really offer much to the community if it’s just the same thing we’ve discussed over and and over again but with just another title and also rephrased.

And I believe the primary reason why users always indulge in this is simply because they barely spend time to read through existing and previous discussions before moving forward to make their own post, because that’s basically what can help users avoid repeating topics, come up with something new and even learn from what has already been previously discussed.

You can't say we should reduce the repetitive topics when you enable it, it actually not genuine coming from you.

Here is this post made today and it actually a repetitive post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5594457.msg67154865#msg67154865

I also called the post out here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5594457.msg67154933#msg67154933

And I say you enable the post because you actually made a reply here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5594457.msg67155223#msg67155223

The best way to be genuine about this is when you see a post that is a repetitive you call it out that's if you want to make it clear to the OP but most importantly report because most likely a repetitive thread causes spamming.

It is good to minimise how repetitive topics keep flowing into the local board sometimes as questions or as suggestions that has been made before. Almost every beginner fell for this error even though there's a small percentage who are well meticulous from the beginning.

There's another reason I think that supports repeating threads here. There have been some times I have searched some threads before and tried making a post there and I noticed a warning/caution saying that '...this topic has not been posted in for a long time, ...consider starting new topic'.

In this case, what are your options, go ahead and make the post or create a thread? Sometimes what I do is, I forget about the thread and the post in order not to cause thread duplication or bumping a forgotten thread.

Again, why not suggest locking threads when you see it as duplicate and then refer the beginner to the original thread instead?

Except when there is breaking news and we need to create a thread to discuss the emerging trend, there is no need to create a repetitive topic, as almost everything about Bitcoin and crypto has already been discussed by other members before. There is also an important thing we have to consider, which is the use of a search engine to know whether a topic has been discussed or not before we create another thread for it, but some don't research this before opening a new thread to spark up a new discussion.

Only if I know it's a repetitive post, if I completely miss the first thread about something and then happen to write a post in the second one that doesn't automatically mean that I'm supporting or even enabling it and it's very possible that Perfectbaby case is a similar one.
I've seen situations where a new thread is created, the creator realizes that I thread about the same thing already exists and locks it, but if they don't and there are people who haven't seen the original thread they will definitely write on the second one, that doesn't in anyway mean they're enabling repetitive posting.
Also some posts are just too old that instead of bringing them back to life it's easier to just start a new one, I can't look through the rules right now but I'm sure I've read about something like that being allowed.
The report button exists for things like this, the moderator can just lock the thread, not delete it but lock it, because it's also very possible that among the different posts in the thread someone has written something important that wasn't in the original thread.

I understand your concern and it’s worth talking about honestly, but I also think that isn’t much of a problem because that is what moderation policy is handling, and member have options to even report a topic to moderator if they noticed that it’s a repetitive topic. But in all you’ve pointed out a matter of concern and I believe all that you’ve said is for the betterment of our local board.

I personally also think that the local isn’t discussing more about bitcoin technicalities and I expect that we also try to learn more on those aspect and have more of those discussions here. Sometimes those technical stuff could easily be understood if it is explained by our fellow countrymen than some oyibos.

I don't think creating topics that have been discussed before should be seen as intentional act, we all are humans and we tend to do things within our knowledge to share information to people around us. This information can really be effective especially to people that will need it and work it.

It shouldn't be a crime when people make the mistake to create similar topics to what another person may have talked about previously. This is why people around can always point it out to remind the person of having a similar topic to what must have been discussed in the past.  Information is power and there are also information that needed to be pinned so that others who need it can always find it at their finger tip so they don't have to search for it or look for it somewhere else.

Yes, it shouldn’t be a crime, but when these posts are current, it should be taken down because you can just add your contributions to the existing discussion and it will count, there is no actually need to create a new thread when you can just make a comment in the related topic to the one you are about to create.

Mos times, we are creating thread as a means of being active in the local board, yes it is, but if the threads are good thread to discuss here, but repeating threads that recently created can be regarded to as spam.

We should not be annoyed when we see a repetitive topic, but rather press the report button and do your part to keep the community clean. Don't worry too much about whether you are right or wrong, if you think the topic is useless or repetitive, then report it to the admin.

There are some topics that are repetitive but provide updated information or discuss new techniques or problems.
Thus, we can never stop opening repetitive topics, for this, the effective step is to use the report button as much as possible. What is too old for you, is something new for newcomers and newcomers are too lazy to use the search button. So we have to take responsibility for keeping the community clean.

Well this post was what triggered me to raise this concern as it's repetitive, I didn't even noticed it until after I have to go through those post after I have submitted my post I had to go through them to understand that they are all saying the same thing, it was then I had to raised this concern that we should be that mindful on how we do raised some topics, at least visiting other post topic and Read a little more could help to reduced this incident.

I am calling at @Igebotz to look at both topics and lock one or possibly the op can do that on their own to lock that topic while the other continue, to be precised, the new one should be locked.
You can't just get triggered after making a reply to the thread, it doesn't add up, you made the reply and must have seen my reply calling out the post and then you went through the link I added and saw the threads are similar then you ran to make a whole new thread calling out repetitive post.

Actually this your thread is also just going to be another spam that people will just want to use to complete post count which means you are also adding to the problem if you can't actually have the inclination to call out the thread right there in the thread and report it.

Instead of creating a new thread. Report the thread to the mod immediately.

I noticed that a lot of things that need to be reported to the mod are often brought out in the form of topics. Many of us are not following the rules set by moderation.

You noticed a spam, report it to the mod. If you noticed scam, repeated topics, and topics that was posted in the wrong board report it rather than creating awareness on a new thread. You should know if you are a long-term local board poster.

Repeating topics that has already been discussed here will not earn you any rewards but criticism, and therefore it is necessary you use the search bar while trying to create any topic here, that will enable you to know if really the topic you want to create has been discussed or not. But when you are not really using the search bar, is possible you might be creating topics similar to what what other people have created. I remembered the initial time I entered this forum, I made similar mistake anyway but I was able to make amend . Newbies can make many mistakes, but advice of this kind will really help to correct some of these errors that some of us make.
