First off, this isn't a s thread of "gambling with what you can afford to lose", I'm not talking about how to reduce gambling loss.

I've come to observe that being able to control how gambling encouraged on important things helps gamblers remain productive in other areas of life, including career wise, this is at a time that most gamblers have prioritized gambling over their jobs, families, career, good relationships e.t.c because of over indulgence in gambling at a time they should be attending to other important tasks, some gamblers have made gambling the no.1 activity in their scale of preference and that's costing them a lot already to the extent they start losing interest in their jobs, doing their duties as parents and and other responsibilities.

Most people are underperforming in their jobs, some have been fired already from their jobs and some who are into business lost lots of clients and their businesses stalled. It's possible to find good practices to maintain focus on personal productivity as a gambler.

In this thread, I'll want us to discuss some behavioural modifications that we put up to ensure we're not being consumed by our desire to gamble and how we are able to control it in order to remain productive as a person, you can share some of it with us, some people can find what appeals to them and pick up one or two ideas.

I'll go first:
I only gamble after the day's work, mostly at night and to ensure this, I have a separate device which only it has my gambling apps, I don't take it to work, lest I'll be tempted, I also put it away on days I work from home.

Again I have a time that my gambling must end, as soon as it's 11PM and my sleeping alarm goes off, any gambling activity comes to an end and continues next evening if possible, with the exception of my holidays. It's difficult and painful most times, but keeping to it has really helped.

Setting a gambling budget and a time limit for your gambling activities can help keep a gambler from getting addicted. Any gambler that puts gambling first before any other thing is already addicted if not, why will you gamble with your job and stay jobless when gambling cannot put food on your table.

Only gamble at your leisure time and don't make it a most to make profit whenever, you are gambling. Responsible gambling practice should be your priority. Don't be a greedy gambler.

I gamble during the weekends. There are times that I gamble during the weekdays but it is not frequently and that will be because I am not busy that day.

I do not go for parlay that is more than 3 matches because it is more of work for me looking for the matches and not fun for me and it is not worth my time. I go for single matches most of the time.

Your ways of following gambling is a good practice and it is very possible that some gamblers here, can have some similar ways of staking, so my own ways of gambling is basically on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and within the middle of the week is only when there is champions League or league cups, i don't really book games every weeks, once my prediction doesn't pleased me in that particular week, i will not force myself to stake for that week because my aim is to experience winning more than losing in this season and immediately the leagues I'm familiar with ends their leagues and go for holidays, i automatically go for break on gambling, so i can't never miss out my working hours for a gambling and it is very understandable that all fingers are not equal in terms of financial but we should learn how to control ourselves with time we should spend while gambling.

I gamble during the weekends. There are times that I gamble during the weekdays but it is not frequently and that will be because I am not busy that day.

I relate with this, weekend are more feasible for me since most sports games are held on weekends. The rules in my offices space prevents staff from gambling during working hours, the penalty is instant dismissal, so it helps put me in check during work hours. I also had a longtime principle of making gambling the last thing on my priority list. I also make it a point of duty not to gamble when I'm discussing with my girlfriend or nuclear family, it's more respectful and courteous that way. I lost a great deal of money and opportunities due to gambling and pornography, so I learned to be focused on productive tasks the hard way.

Gambling does not affect my sleep wake cycle.

I more often gamble on weekends. Occasionally I do place bets on weekdays, but sports betting doesn't require much time. There is nothing that needs to take up so much time that it affects work and time with family. I also gamble at night for a short period of time, which doesn't interfere with rest at all. I know some gamblers prioritize gambling over other activities. But in such situations, I am sure that those gamblers are already addicted.

Personally, I have the main concept of carrying out responsible productivity in gambling activities, one of the simple reasons that I apply where I view gambling only as Just entertainment and not a source of income with the concept of responsibility like that that I instill in my soul, of course I don't need to worry when I lose a bet and I'm not too happy when I win a bet.

Another responsible practice that I apply is that when I lose I limit it, meaning that today I have capital of $100, losing means I limit that I will not make another deposit, if I win, I will no longer bet, Another thing that I prioritize most in carrying out gambling activities is managing time, gambling time limits, prioritizing main tasks and understanding opportunities at the right and wrong times.

I find threads like this very interesting, it is funny how some people become deeply lost in gambling because they have made it their number one priority. In order to remain productive while gambling, you need to have a specific time when you will gamble. Personally I gamble on weekends because I don’t want gambling to distract me during working days. If only bettors had a specific time or day to gamble there would be a balance between gambling and their everyday responsibilities and they would not allow it to take over their lives.

Everything boils down to management, keeping all this strict rules depends totally on self discipline and budget. During weekends I normally gamble more because league matches usually play on weekends, I don’t gamble on leagues I know nothing about definitely this has been my pattern for long while it helps me to focus on other important things aside gambling.
Recently the champions league just started, I might consider betting on the champions league games so basically it’s not always on weekends rather the league I’m conversant with and it helps with my budget, knowing about the league gives a high winning chance.

The way you apply can also be OP, by separating the gambling device and not taking it to where you should be doing other activities then this will be able to make you avoid temptation.

On the other hand for this problem I think everything comes back to "how big is someone's interest in gambling", if for example they are middle to lower gamblers in terms of interest and enthusiasm then yes excluding gambling is still very possible to do, but on the other hand what about those who are addicted? That is unlikely they can do, ohiya I also usually gamble at night, just like you OP.

People's behavior towards gambling is dependent on how much they valued it, someone who have other priorities that they are fully dedicated to will not be overwhelmed my gambling desire to the extent that they can not control that desire even when the time is not convenient, if a gambling can not control their desire, it means they valued gambling more than anything and therefore should put their behavior in check. They should set and agree upon a specific time that they will only gamble in a week, they should not gamble outside those time and if they failed to abide by the rules, they should punish themselves by staying away from gambling for some days. With that, discipline can be developed.

One major thing I do that help me in my gambling is drawing a gambling budget that I try not to exceed weekly.  If I run into series of losses, I have to take a break to return later because I believe that gambling works in a string of luck, whenever I notice that the luck is not there, I stay off for a while. Even when I bet on sports, I gauge how many losses I incurred to ascertain if I should take a short break or continue.

Effective control is the reason why I chose sports betting. Most games are played during weekends, which are days I don't go to work. I have all the time to analyse games and make predictions. I also avoid virtual betting because it is always available.  Virtual games could be very addictive; that's why I avoid playing them.

Sadly, gambling affects people's performance at their place of work. One of my colleagues was suspended from work because he was gambling during inspection. He was carried away by the game and didn't know when he screamed in the presence of a supervisor.

I guess you are a disciplined guy... You found a way that works for you, and if you like it, that's great. The most important thing for all of us is to find what works for us... We need to have priorities & keep the house in order, and to find some time for fun & entertainment. The balance...

When you fix specific time for gamble does that mean you have noticed that is when you do have luck to win often? You seem to make gambling a routine or something, to the point of setting alarm like we have in NYSE.

I don't have specific time for gambling because I have other things I do beside gambling, so my gambling is mostly when I'm free and mentally ready to gamble. When I bet on sports, it does not take long since its a one off something.

If we want to gamble while leading a healthy, normal or beautiful life, then it is very important to be disciplined in gambling activities. Gambling during the weekends is actually the best for me or some days in the evening hours after work when I don't have any work activities to attend to, in my place during evening hours I usually see guys going out to watch football games most of them already placed bet on the game, so I remember asking one of them that time when I was not Into gambling games yet, I asked him why do you like going out to watch football games when he has television and a phone that he could possibly use for the game, but he said the game is more fun watching in groups or with friends which today I found to be true.

How often you gamble depends on the type of gambler that you're, if you're a football bettor, then you're mostly active during the weekend or sometime week days when there's a champions League match. Maybe. Someone who's into business with gambling, that literally finds opportunity to earn a living, because I could recall a guy that was living large of money he earns from gambling during my school days at University, literally almost everyday his searching for an opportunity to bet because that's what fetched him money then, but generally, one should moderate their activities of gambling so it doesn't leads them into addition.

You’re very correct, gambling is suppose to be only for entertainment, it’s not something that someone is suppose to depend on to survive. Setting budget and time limit can help gambler to control how much they can spend and reduce the risk of addiction. If gambling has start to affect your job, important responsibilities and feeding it’s a sign for the person to take a break.

Responsible gambling is suppose to always come first. It’s not every session you must win, and greed can make a person to lose more than they plan. So gamble only with money that you can afford to lose. always remember never to put gambling before your daily needs.
