Imagine waking up one morning and you realize that your phone is gone, stolen or bad beyond repair…. And this happens to be the exact same phone that your Bitcoin wallet was on. In such a situation, did you lose your Bitcoin?
The straight up answer is NO. But that doesn't mean you still can't lose it (I will get there in a moment).
Bitcoin itself isn't stored inside your phone. Your wallet is like the bank that holds all needed information to access and spend your Bitcoin which is stored in the blockchain.
This brings us back to the point I made earlier on you still being able to lose your Bitcoin. If your recovery phrase is properly backed up, restoring your wallet would not be an issue.
Now, if someone somehow gets access to your phone but doesn't have your wallet credentials, your Bitcoin may still be safe. But if the person gets access to your wallet credentials, the reverse may be the case.
Now in a situation where you lose both your phone and your wallet credentials, recovery may become difficult if not impossible. This is where Bitcoin self-custody comes in. In the Bitcoin space, you are responsible for protecting access to your credentials. This is where Bitcoin differs from traditional banking. No bank manager can simply reset your Bitcoin wallet, forgot password option, nobody can help reset your passkey…
What are your thoughts on this?

So far your keys which serves as the security of your wallet is stored safely elsewhere and not inside the missing device then you're not losing anything in your wallet but if it happened that tbe phone got stolen by someone who successfully login and get acess to your keys then your coin is gone.

I would've quoted the popular slogan about keys but I believe it's a popular phrase that people should know by now and take precautions on how to  protect their keys, cause it's the most important thing that concerns the security of a wallet. Avoid storing your keys in your phone especially inside the email, it should be engraved in a metal plate and stored in a safe at different locations.

Na why we dey encourage people to use non custodial wallets and to keep multiple copies of their seed phrase offline. We get so many good storage options to choose from, you fit write your keys on paper or engrave in steel. That way, even if person lose him device, he can never lose access to him coins.

Na y we no suppose joke with our seed phrase, we should make sure say we protect am well. If u Dey secure ur seed phrase, make sure say u keep am for place wey be say nobody go fit get access to am. Your seed phrase is not suppose to be stored online, if u Dey keep ur seed phrase, na where interest connection no Dey na him e suppose be. If u wan store am, write am for place like iron steel, that kin thing Dey difficult to destroy. If u write am for paper, e fit tear easily, or if water touch am e fit no clear again, and fire fit easily burn paper, but iron Dey difficult to destroy, and u go just keep am for multiple places.

If u think storing your seed phrase online is better, you are just deceiving yourself, and you endangering yourself, if anybody fit hack where u keep d seed phrase, or dem steal ur phone, ur money don go be that, na why we no suppose carry our wallet security play.

If you lose your phone, your Bitcoin holdings is not lost because it is on a decentralized blockchain network.
That's why it's good to always have your seed phrases not stored on your devices but  either on paper or scribbled on a metal non corrosive plate. The reason is that when you finally get a new device you can download same apps you used initially and enter your seed phrases easily or if preferably you use a self custody wallet, you won't even have to bother much because your Bitcoin is safe there as long as your seed phrases remain intact.

In a case where you lost your device you should be mindful and take precautions in locking your sim card by contacting your mobile carrier service like mtn customer service or glo or Airtel customer service to lock it until you retrieve the line.
You can use Google's find my device to remotely erase the local storage of the device and all this should be done with 48-72hours or less, of losing your device.

Unless you are probably using a centralized service like most of these KYC mandatory ones, you cannot recover your coins if you end up losing your seed phrase. You phone or wallet is just an anchor to access the wallet only if you have the keys and the keys are simply a derivation from the seed phrases.

The solution is to have backups offline... Emphasis on offline storing your keys online is another huge mistake that could end very badly when they get compromised.

Acting quickly, towards securing your device and any account that is connected to it should be another one thing that should be consider after lossing your phone. Cause even if your keep your seed phrase safe, the phone might still be holding some sensitive information, exchanges and even the access to your email.

Before losing your phone there are different security features in our devies this days you set it, so incase . So if a thing happens like this can go lock your Sim and secure your device and informations.
