Generally crime/scam activities is growing across many financial institutions, including the banking sector and also crypto. But this shouldn't be treated as another form of FUD for holders. The major thing is to keep yourself up to date with latest scam and information around the financial world, so that you do not become a prey for these petty scammers/hackers.

You nailed it dude, why many people fall for some online scams is because they're ignorant of the latest schemes scammers use for operations or informations on how to avoid being a victim, such informations is very helpful for educative purpose and not something that would lead  people to panic and sell, if people have their Bitcoin stored properly then there shouldn't be any reason to panic.

Every Bitcoin holder needs to upgrade their survival techniques, always stay updated on security issues, keep their keys safe and make sure the wallet their Bitcoin is stored in is very safe from hackers. If all said is done according then people won't worry much about scammers/hackers.

Everything is getting scarier by the day. People should generally avoid any random crypto software advertised online. Be it trading bots, wallets and any other  software relating to crypto. They may not all be bad, but scam is growing fast and we cannot tell if the random software is genuine or something dangerous. For the safety of their bitcoins, they should just stick with the reputable tools that they have been using all along. The reason most people become victims is because they get excited when they hear that the tool is free, or that it could generate them more money so quickly, or that it could perform an unimaginable task. Scammers know how to play with your brains.

There are other ways to compromise your basic privacy too, but I feel like most people attract all these attentions by themselves, thereby making it easier for any criminal to find  a right target.

It's  related to promotion, and yes people can fall for it but what exactly do you think will happen when you just use a random script, or download and install a random tool online  .

People don’t want to understand that their isn’t shortcut to success and to achieve this success we need to put in some effort and do some work before we achieve success. In trading no shortcut in making profits and this new traders don’t want to accept that and they just want to fold their arms and see themselves in profits and success in trading and that not the reality of how trading works.
 And the worst thing about this people looking for free tools for trading is that they don’t have the mindset to do research over things they find. The eagerness to make quick money is always there with them so they forget and fail to conduct an appropriate research about what they are using.  And doing the due diligence saves us from losses and from hackers too.

I saw the thread where you tried warning people about this trading bot on the beginners & help board, but I came back to comment on it and couldn’t find it, I never knew it was deleted until now.  I know the moderator is trying hard to keep the board clean from spam and other unwanted content, but information like this shouldn’t be deleted unless it’s a duplicate.  Op, thanks for this information and I’m glad you brought it to our attention, especially since I’m a fan of free trading tools. I will be more careful with free trading tools, so I don’t fall victim to a scam like this.

One must be vigilant when increasing your online footprint especially when you dive on AI related dapps or software. I really wonder why someone must install these kind of stuff when someone can manually learn crypto trading and do it themselves.

Relying on software or automatic bots for trading is good and nice it creates convenience to anyone however the risk it pose that might be possible for draining or hacks can happened too. But on the case of the OPs post, its basically about the malware that they installed which was not on the AI trading bot.

It is true that an open source hardware wallet is better than a hot wallet, but some people do not even want to deal with hardware wallet manufacturers anymore and they create their own cold storage setup. An electrum wallet on an airgapped computer is as safe as a hardware wallet and even better because you don't have to worry about your shipping details being leaked or supply chain attacks.

However, i must add that this setup is only for those who know exactly what they are doing, if you do this in an unsafe environment, chances are high that you'd lock yourself out of your funds.

So I think the point here is that we should not be afraid of AI tools in general, but we should be very careful with AI tools that we find through ads or random websites because some of them can actually be malware. For me the risk is too high, especially if that computer is also being used to access crypto wallets. Better not to install random trading tools unless you are sure where they came from.

With all the attacks and incidents happening around the industry, people need to understand that they are not supposed to use devices where they keep their wallets and financial apps to use tools and other stuff even if they believe that the tools come from trusted sources. Why take the risk anyway? Just have a separate device for such activities, if you are a trader and you require to use a lot of online platforms or even tools and extensions for your activities, you should make sure you are not doing all these things in the same device that you use to store your cryptocurrencies or where you keep your funds.

The same thing should be done for mobile devices as well and not only computers. A lot of people use their mobile devices for wallets and other financial apps, and then they use the same devices for gaming, using apps and tools, surfing the internet or social media, and then they complain why they got attacked or their wallets and financial apps got compromised, because attackers are now becoming smarter, and they don't need you to do a lot, all you need to do is install something that contains their malware, and that's it.

This thing is so scary because how could you even notice something like this if the fake wallet works like the real one, people should be very careful with random trading tools, browsers and downloading software from search results. Some times a wallet interface would look familiar but doesn’t mean it is real.

Honestly this warning would be good in beginners and help section because new users are the most likely to probably download a free tool without checking it origin. Lets also avoid keeping huge amount in browser wallet that is connected to different websites, separating it and using good hardware wallet can reduce the risk of hacked system.

I think it's time people start embracing only self custody storage and also take the use of multisignature very seriously, in times like this, using multisignature set-up becomes a necessity for every bitcoiner, if the different signing keys are well secured in different devices, it becomes a bit difficult for scammers to easily steal investors coins. I have said it before in one thread I created after coldcard vulnerability, if we set up extra security like multisig and pass phrase in our self custody wallets, it prevent easy access for hackers, no?

We have to expect crypto hackers to get more each day.  The growing popularity and adoption of cryptocurrency will greatly attract the attention of bad people since they have lots of places to exchange the stolen cryptocurrency.

We also read that there are lots of cases of cryptohack, from $5 wrench attacks to sophisticated malware injections, just to steal the victims' cryptocurrency.  So it is a wise thing to be more careful when browsing the internet or sharing things on social media, especially finances.  Wicked people will do everything they can just to successfully steal unsuspecting victims' cryptocurrency.

They won't remove any thread without a valid reason, maybe it's duplicated and redundant or there might be any other.

Once you installed it the script will invisibly replace every wallets you have in your browsers like Metamask for example with a fake Metamask version and the crazy part is you can still use it like the original, move out funds and all that.

That's the start of the containment, when a user installs any script that they have no idea with.
A script that pretends to be something good or some miners or whatever the purpose is, that's the sipping of funds happens.
So, to avoid this completely. Never install any browser extension, trading tool or any application that you have no experience it just to be safe.
