~snip~
Ledger is closed-source, and it's currently open-source, thoroughly reviewed projects where AI finds vulnerabilities. Imagine what happens if they de-compile Ledger's source code, or someone inside leaks the code.

They are a ticking bomb regardless of the opinion of some "experts" who still defend them. To be honest, I didn't sleep peacefully until I moved all the coins off their devices, and I wonder how those who still use them sleep.
This lasted shorter than I thought:

- Ledger support on X: Ledger is investigating reports of loss of funds.
- Ledger is reportedly hit by a MAJOR exploit, with alleged losses reaching $86 MILLION.
- Reports that the Ledger drain has hit cold wallets.

In case anyone was reading my past the past week, get your coins off Ledger ASAP. Coincidentally, this occurs at the same time that LLM models have become unusually good with reverse engineering closed-source software.

The rumor appears to be that it's the fault of a reseller, but since it's closed-source, we don't know for sure yet. Let's wait and see.

OK, I will restock my pile of popcorn. As I don't grant X a visit from me, I will have to wait until the drama unfolds here or on some less asocial places than X. Quite a cliffhanger unfortunately for me and I'm already pretty curious how and what Ledger and/or the reseller screwed up this time.

Double curious how a reseller could cause something like a potential drainage of wallets, though.  Shocked

Considering the damn AI, I think I'll have to try harder and secure myself additionally with multisig, because even though I use an air-gapped wallet and a strong passphrase, I'm no longer sure that even that is enough.

21 Million percent right!

Because Ledger is closed source, the only people working on their code are the few they allow to see the code, and the criminals trying to hack it and/or reverse engineer it... most likely by using AI.

Anyone who still trusts Ledger does not take self custody of their Bitcoin seriously. Period.
