Asian Games 2026 – Which Country Will Win the Most Medals?

Here's the recent Medal tally. Vietnam seems to be the most unlucky nation in matter of Gold and Silvers getting just one of each while having 16 bronzes. My nation Nepal too was unlucky this time as they lost the games they got silver and bronzes on last Asian games. China is undoubtedly the winner every time but with Japan hosting it, they seem to be comfortably taking the second place while Kazakhstan is establishing itself among top sporting nation in Asian.

China and Japan both have track records that never cease to amaze and impress me. They consistently produce generations of extraordinary athletes. These two countries always have the highest medal counts in Asia. Even at the 2024 Paris Olympics, we know China also ranked second there. Their medal count was truly impressive as well. So, at the Asian Games, too, they’ve practically become a regular at the top of the rankings.

My country, Indonesia, hasn’t been quite as lucky yet. But fortunately, we’ve already won two gold medals. However, competitions in several sports are still ongoing, so personally, I’m still hoping my country can win a few more.

^^ I don't know but there should not be any surprises as far as Japan and South Korea. They have been consistently in the 1st to 3rd place every Asian games. And obviously, China is always the number one and it's hard for this two nation to challenge the Chinese dominance.

What could be a surprised is what country are going to finished in the top 10. Thailand is a big surprise although they could be the powerhouse country in Sea games and they just represented it in this games. And good to see that most countries have produce a medal already and for sure their nation are very proud of it.

India Vs Afghanistan cricket quater final got abandoned due to rain. India qualified for the semifinals. I hope they play against Pakistan in the finals of the Asian Games cricket. I feel sad for the Afghanistan team, as they could have tried to defeat the Indians if rain had not disrupted the match. Since the US and Europe are not part of this game, Iran was allowed to participate. If it were the Olympics, I am sure they would not have been banned from participating.

So for the Philippines, we have our first gold medal and as expected, courtesy of Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo.

Carlos Yulo has delivered the Philippines' first gold medal of the 20th Asian Games, ruling the men's floor exercise final on Thursday at the Nagoya City General Gymnasium and making history as the country's first Asian Games gold medalist in artistic gymnastics.

Yulo posted the highest score of 14.666 to secure the gold, topping Kazakhstan's Milad Karimi and Japan's Shoma Tsukiyama. Meanwhile, his younger brother Karl Eldrew registered 12.223, good for seventh place, in his Asian Games debut.

The two-time Olympic champion already displayed top form in this apparatus from the get go, as he entered the final as the top qualifier after scoring 14.600 in the preliminary round. He also led the field in the men's team final on Wednesday, scoring 14.266 on floor as the Philippines finished sixth.

Hopefully, he will be recognized by our government again as what they did to him when he won gold medals in the last Olympic games.

As anticipated by many filipino fans, Carlos won the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games, which was the result of his hard work, dedication, and proper training. Getting a gold medal is something that he did, not only for himself, but for the whole Filipino community... Surprisingly, his brother was also awarded a bronze which is something that many viewers didnt expected. In my opinion, I think the Yulo brothers are potential strong names in the future Olympic Games if they have a strong team of trainers and have a strong supportive around them.

If im not mistaken, Carlos was also acknowledged by the Philippine government and a lot of companies were sponsoring him after he had won his first gold medal last year.  Hopefully, for the next upcoming games, they both win gold medal.

Wow, an 11-year-old? That’s absolutely amazing. Honestly, I didn’t even know there were competitions for Puyo Puyo. But I was even more surprised by the winner, it turns out it really was Yuki Kurihara, who’s still only 11 years old. This reminds me a bit of one of Indonesia’s youngest athletes in 2018, Bunga Nyimas, who was 12 at the time. But she didn’t win a gold medal. She only won a bronze medal in the skateboarding competition. and at that time, she also broke the record for being the youngest competitor in that sport.

But now, it seems Yuki Kurihara has become the youngest “wunderkind” at the Asian Games to win a medal.

Was there a rule in cricket or maybe in the Asian Games itself, that whoever is leading(I'm just assuming this part) automatically wins if the match is disrupted because of the weather?

Sadly, we could not find a market to bet on which country to win most medals. I have tried myself to search it anywhere, but it's quite hard to find the outright for the asian games. If i were finding it, then i would be betting on China to be the first to win most medals of asian games.
I hope bookies will put more attention to the variations of bet related to the asian games especially in the outright.

They use pre tournament seedings, which in this case meant the higher ranked team based on ICC T20I standings automatically advances if a knockout match gets abandoned without a ball being bowled. It’s definitely tough luck for Afghanistan because they always bring a lot of fight and would have loved a proper crack at it but rules are rules. Pakistan apparently got through the exact same way on the other side of the bracket.

Cricket always suffers due to rain again happening today; both quarterfinals are abandoned due to rain, and India and Pakistan are in the semi-finals anyhow and waiting for their opponents, while two remaining quarterfinals are going to be played tomorrow: Sri Lanka is facing Nepal, and Bangladesh is going to face Malaysia.

Top four teams are going to be have spots in semi-finals but rain is still a big threat because it's raining season in Japan, no one can do anything, they have no reserve days as well; fans only can hope for having something entertaining in upcoming matches because currently in most games rain in the only winner, many games ended without bowling even a single ball.

Top ranked ICC full member nation got direct entry into the quaterfinals. That is why India was playing against Afghanistan in the quaterfinals. Now the worst part all the quarterfinal matches were abandoned due to rain. So, these four teams will now be playing the semifinals and I hope those matches do not get abandoned due to rain.

An amazing achievement and unique event in history. Never though that in professional sport there could be such young athletes. For Olympics there is not age limit according to rules, but for some sport they dont allow participation of athletes who are younger than 14. 11 years old - that is a totally a child. Unimaginable how at such young age he was able to cope with stress and not get afraid to compete with other athletes who were older. I have searched for more info, and it turns he was competing against 28 years old in final game. I cant imagine how I would not get scared to compete against adult, not get confused and shy.

Yeah it's definitely a brutal way to get knocked out after all the hard work. To answer your question, no this rule doesn't apply everywhere. Major ICC tournaments and big domestic leagues like the IPL reserve days for knockouts so matches can be finished. Multi sport events like the Asian Games are the exception because they are on a tight schedule and strict timelines, leaving no reserve days if the weather ruins a match.

Third gold medal for the Philippines.. EJ Obiena won gold in the men's pole vault and man he didn't just win, it was also record breaking jump at the Asian Games. He's basically the Asian Duplantis, if you know what I mean. lol

Our other representative, Alex Eala also has good chance of winning gold. Hopefully, she can get it in both the singles and mixed doubles events. I actually thought Alex wouldn't be playing in the Asian Games, so I'm glad she decided to compete.

I agreed about this; it's totally unfair, but it's all part of its beauty and system. Under a roof is not possible, and consistent rain is always a problem, so it works like this. Cricket has never been part of the Asian Games; it's the fourth time they've added it due to its T20 format. T20 format is helping out by having entertainment and quick results.

Hopefully now it's going to be a regular part of these games. In big events, usually they have an extra day for playing, but if it's still not possible, then they have equal points, but at this level it's always a problem; they try to have a result even with fewer overs, but now it's also not working, so they are giving an unfair advantage to teams that are higher in rank at the top.
